I enjoyed the series when it aired and still do as a rewatch occasionally today as I had purchased the series on DVD.
The intro is epic. I don't know why they changed the narrator in later episodes.
It's a fun show, and Gil as Captain Buck Rogers is a likable character.
I wish it was a bit more serious and didn't care as much for the second season, although it has its good episodes. I hated the dumbing-down of Wilma Deering character.
Also, I didn't realize some of the parts were dubbed.

Really enjoying your reviews of 70s series. I have wondered if my childhood TV memories would hold up to scrutiny in adulthood - maybe not so much. 🤨
A word about clip shows. Before many people had a way of recording shows and way before on demand streaming, clip shows were often shown once a season, letting viewers see something of episodes they might have missed.
I even recall a very popular show comprising of clips from different shows which people wrote in (actual letters!) requesting.

I still think you should review season two just because it’s part of a show that started in the 70s and it would seem like you would want to complete the entire show. Yes, I have seen season two. But they do to Wilma and that season is a crime. Even though season2 as a dumpster fire, I still think it deserves a review just to finish off the show. I’m just saying I think.

@5:30 - based on that premise, you could review 1980's 'The Martian Chronicles' because the series was produced in the late 70's. Same thing with 'The Shining' - though I won't hold you to it - it's been done to death...
...at least _The Martian Chronicles_ is sci-fi!

    26:20 best episode, easily
    30:01 you're not thr only one 😁
    31:39 amazingly good effect
    31:12 ROTFL!!!!!!!!
32:45 it's Brian the Brain's stunt double! (AND easy inspiration for Futurama!)
35:19 yeah, that scene redefines "padding"... and, sadly, that episode got me into Three Dog Night! 😅
    37:26 more please!
    37:39 dang!
38:14 nailed it perfectly, as if you haven't nailed it perfectly already and you have... but i do have to have a teensy nip of something 30-proof before attempting to watch Ardala's episodes.
39:38 worst yet best double entendres ever 😂😂😂😂😂
40:43 yeah, what's down with the bad nad wig. Very atypical of Buck...
...zygot(e)s... never mind planet Fistfula from the otherwise good Jack Palance episode, Buck Rogers has more double entendres than any show could ever manage to do 🫡.
Quick question: Ardala vs Catwoman? (I'd go with Catwoman, but I'd be thinking of the Professor)
46:55 it's the other gift that keeps on giving! 😂 his trio just got out of Studio 54 too...
Olympiad - is that the one where they space slalom through Doctor Who credits sequences? 😁
Jennifer episode was season 1's last gasps at glory...
Space Rockers... more proof that Buck needed to be in a Night Court crossover... I loved the song Andromeda did, until I found out it was just the best bits of a of-the-time disco song... which was not too much a letdown, but is really thought the show was trying to make more an effort at futurism. Thst music pretty much wrecked that sumb belief.
53:49 😂😂😂😂😂 (evwnnmore for the Buck and Tweaky captions)
I forgot about the parallel universe story. Ugh. Too cheesy... ans who needs internal logic when cheap thrills are to be had! But I'll spare my whine about my ex, LOL!

Hi. I am a brand new subscriber! I love what you are doing. You are showcasing all of the shows that I watched growing up. In the case of buck Rogers in the 25th century was that the pilot which was a two hour pilot, was awesome. The series itself did not match up to the pilot but I loved Erin Gray and and Pamela Hensley!! Also Dr. Theopolis and Tweaky! Biggy biggy… I don’t really agree with your assessment of Dr. Theopolis and tweaky… They were awesome!
Funny, my first crush was Lee Majors as Heath Barkley in The Big Valley and then it really solidified when he was the $6 million man. However, I also had a crush on Gil Gérard. They were similar types. Gil looks great in the uniform…

I've always enjoyed this show. Sure, it's cheesy and very silly at times. I do agree with Gil Gerard that they should have made it much more serious. The show would have been better for sure. But it is what it is. Just a silly space romp that cracks me up. There's a lot of shows much worse than this. I could also do without the Gary Coleman episodes. But I love to see guys like Jack Palance and William Smith as they always played bad guys so well. It looks like at least one episode was skipped though. I can't remember the name of it but it had Roddy McDowall(another iconic actor) in it. And that Vegas in Space episode had Richard Lynch as the bad guy. So many iconic actors! If there's one show that deserves a reboot, it would be this one.

I LOVED season one. They were throwing tons of camp and sex and glamour. NBC was last in the ratings and tanking hard. I heard in many articles how Gil was really bothered by the silliness and pitch temper tantrums over the scripts. Pamela Hensley was/is ICONIC. Biggest mistake of season two was getting rid of her character entirely. In fact, season 2 for me is unwatchable. I still haven't seen every episode. I do share in the dislike of Twiki.

I had to give up watching this after the umpteenth “joke”/complaint about how a 1979 show fails to conform to your far more virtuous modern sense of how women should be portrayed and how you disapprove of a male hero drugging a woman not to do her any harm, but to save lives. You know the show has infinitely more scenes of Buck shooting people to save lives- why not repeatedly “jokingly” tell us how uncomfortable that makes you given school shootings? Ugh.
