He was supposed to replace Goku and Goku was supposed to die forever, that's why he gets so much attention, or at least that's what akira toriyama wanted. I guess someone wasn't really okay with that. I honestly think it would have been better if Gohan continued as the main character instead of giving Goku a million hair colors and forms, it also shows how next generations had more potential, just look how good gohan got when he was still just a kid.
one thing I really like about Cha la head cha la, and dragon ball openings in general (so even super and GT) is that these openings don't spoil the arc. A lot of anime openings feel like you were revealed half of the arc by just the opening, when DB openings are cool while being vague enough to not spoil the fun
The JoJo's bizzare adventure season 1 intro spoils the entire season in the intro itself so badly in fact that I knew I wasted my time watching the season than just watching the intro itself but the season helped understanding the context

Yeah this game is awesome it does have it's flaws but I enjoyed it from start to finish and this is the best retelling of dragon ball Z in a video game that I've played. Sometime the combat can be a bit boring, but when it goes to those hard fights then I really have fun with the game. And I have more fun with the fights when you don't use healing items at least not as much. I've played this game so many times that I know how the combat system works and learned the enemies patterns and it made the game so much fun to play and the combat was more engaging that way.
I think that we can't really compare them and say which one is better. One is made for TV in full 2D to present us a show while the other is made for a video game in full 3D to present us the game in a nostalgic way.

I still think DBZ: Budokai is the best videogame adaptation of DBZ opening as it follows it 100%, plus there are two other adaptations in the game too!
You should do one budokai 1 as well, as I feel that’s the most accurate to the anime intro for a video game. It even has two versions of the intro just like the anime which is so sick.

That's because there's multiple versions of Cha-la Head Cha-la. The one from the Cell Saga has what you're thinking of. The original one during the Saiyan Saga doesn't have that because Super Saiyan wasn't a thing yet, so Goku just lands with the Nyoibo instead.

Anime is better it depicts terror and despair but also gave hope that everything will be ok. This is yet another case where game director wanna put his mark on the franchise because copying the anime 1:1 won't give him the credits. Japanese always do this kind of stuff.

I love em both equally. The game showcased beautifully what you signed up for, and so did the anime. And the ending was IDENTICAL to cell saga opening

I have some experience and personally yes, I find 3D much harder to animate than 2D.
