That's not really the same. When you buy a video game or a new part you know exactly what youre getting. Opening a pack of trading cards was always incredibly fun. I remember being in 3rd grade and receiving 2 packs of yugioh cards from my mom. I opened the first and pulled out an ultra rare toon summoned skull, and a super rare toon world on the second. I practically shit myself with excitement.

I can explain it without sounding like an asshole! So basically, people play Magic competitively, and also some card collectors want certain cards and will pay a lot for them. You can earn a lot of money from tournaments! And so people want to win tournaments with the best cards, and thats why cards can cost so much. :)
@David. Mox Ruby is a 0 drop instant source of red mana. So first turn, if you were to play your land, and drop a mox ruby, you would instantly have 2 mana available. That immediately is a massive advantage, specially when playing vintage when the games are incredibly fast paced. Mox Ruby is restricted in vintage, which means you can only have 1 of them. But lets say, before they restricted them, you drew 4 of them in your opening hand. Play a mountain, and drop 4 mox rubies, you now have 5 red mana before your opponent has even had a chance to put any cards down onto the field, this is incredibly broken, and thats why its restricted and extremely powerful. Even a single Mox Ruby is extremely powerful.
It's not about the possible click bait. Things like sub4sub or asking for subscribers or shout outs are bad. You should never worry about your subscriber count, honestly. They should be a bonus of the hard work you put into making the videos.

It's a lot of fun though it can be addicting and kind of complicated. It's easy to pick up, though plus you can play free via Steam (or illigitimately via a program called Cockatrice).

When I first started playing, there was this guy who played for a long time that I played against. He had 4 Black Lotus in his deck for the purpose of getting a 1st turn win by making me draw out my deck using Tolorian Academy and Time Warp. I also remember at that time Alpha set stuff was expensive. Beta set stuff not so much. Unlimited set stuff was like trash. I actually had a couple dual lands and used them... Without deck protectors.
I've been playing magic since revised. There is a lot wrong with that starter deck. The least of which is the pixelization on the mox. My counterfeit black lotus has the same pixelization.

No, it actually doesnt. It protects them from getting damaged yes, but the oils on your skin literally do NOTHING to the cards. When you get them graded they dont use gloves. You can touch the cards with your bare hands for 15 years and they will still be minty fresh lmao
not at all, thats why they have a coating over them that makes them slick to prevent that from happening. Touching the cards do nothing to the value. The sooner everyone learns that the better lol

imagine a game where you take turns, and in each turn if you are able you can increase a resource that is need to play other cards. the more of this resource you have the more powerful the cards you can potentially play are. but this card isnt one of those resources. this card doesnt cost any resources and even gives you more resources to play with. on the surface this wont seem like much, but if your opponent isnt afforded the luxury and you have more than one of these cards or cards like it, you start to have whats called a "ramp" that is entirely free. for example there is a card that is even better than this that in the early days of the game allowed you to win on your first turn. it was so good that they had to implement other rules and ban the card from play in official games. it wasnt the first but you get the idea I hope
Touching it doesn't effect the card, after alpha and beta they gave them special wax based coatings. Even the people that grade them don't wear gloves.
It's the most successful playing card game ever. Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh and a hundred others attempted to recreate the "magic" but the gathering is very old (1993), still number one, and there are wayyyyy too many people that simply care about collecting.

It's a lot of fun though it can be addicting and kind of complicated. It's easy to pick up, though plus you can play free via Steam (or illigitimately via a program called Cockatrice).

When I first started playing, there was this guy who played for a long time that I played against. He had 4 Black Lotus in his deck for the purpose of getting a 1st turn win by making me draw out my deck using Tolorian Academy and Time Warp. I also remember at that time Alpha set stuff was expensive. Beta set stuff not so much. Unlimited set stuff was like trash. I actually had a couple dual lands and used them... Without deck protectors.

Rob Millington Protects it though. Even contact with skin oil or the backs of other cards, can wear and degrade a card in short order. I sleeve every rare I own that's worth more than $5 just on general principle.
No, it actually doesnt. It protects them from getting damaged yes, but the oils on your skin literally do NOTHING to the cards. When you get them graded they dont use gloves. You can touch the cards with your bare hands for 15 years and they will still be minty fresh lmao
Actually, if it is handle to much, your natural oils will smear the ink and make the cards value zippo
not at all, thats why they have a coating over them that makes them slick to prevent that from happening. Touching the cards do nothing to the value. The sooner everyone learns that the better lol

I am getting nostalgic looking at these cards. I don't care a lick for modern MTG, but I cut my teeth on Unlimited. This brings back so many memories.
I don't really know that much about magic, but why is this card worth so much? Its just a mana card right?
It's an artifact which is why it's so good. You can play basically play two mana turn one if you get it.
imagine a game where you take turns, and in each turn if you are able you can increase a resource that is need to play other cards. the more of this resource you have the more powerful the cards you can potentially play are. but this card isnt one of those resources. this card doesnt cost any resources and even gives you more resources to play with.
on the surface this wont seem like much, but if your opponent isnt afforded the luxury and you have more than one of these cards or cards like it, you start to have whats called a "ramp" that is entirely free.
for example there is a card that is even better than this that in the early days of the game allowed you to win on your first turn. it was so good that they had to implement other rules and ban the card from play in official games. it wasnt the first but you get the idea I hope

Touching it doesn't effect the card, after alpha and beta they gave them special wax based coatings. Even the people that grade them don't wear gloves.

It's the most successful playing card game ever. Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh and a hundred others attempted to recreate the "magic" but the gathering is very old (1993), still number one, and there are wayyyyy too many people that simply care about collecting.
