It's so funny looking at the comments and seeing all the people who don't play Magic be so confused. Guys, he didn't pay $1300 for the deck. He got a card that is part a very old, VERY powerful set- hence the title. The card (Mox Ruby) is currently priced in the thousands. You think that's crazy? Another card from the same set, Black Lotus, is worth about $27,000. He may be a nerd, and so may I, but he is one damn lucky nerd.
Drink NukaClassic well technically everything in life is a waste of money. You spend money on everything just to later never use said thing. Which is a waste of money. The point of spending your money on this game is to have fun while you have it
Pretty funny to the none magic player on how excited he got & just screamed out the name. Congrats though man. Don't know what it means but, MOX FREAKIN' RUBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same don't know someone knows just about every card or cares so much about a card that they literally wear gloves. I don't know who would pay for that card and tbh I would probably freak out too if I knew before hand it was a rare but only cuz I'm thinking of how much money I could get out of an idiot.
Really appreciate all the kind comments. I made this video a LONG time ago but the channel has kept going ever since. Videos are much higher quality now and We're over 1000 videos now and I think you might enjoy it if you give it a subscribe. If not, that's cool too, and thanks for stopping by!
Your collection probably sucks. Besides, many people even you may not even notice whether a card was handles without gloves. There are ways to clean things you wont even know about.
Well your profile has a starcraft cat. Starcraft was made by blizzard which made hearthstone. Hearthstone is magic the gathering warcraft edition. Maybe that's why it was there :3
I don't understand why people hate on MTG collectors. So what if a guy spends hundreds of dollars on one card? I don't tell people not to waste hundreds of dollars on tickets to watch sweaty guys toss a ball around or I don't tell people not to waste $200 on a jacket just to feel like a douche bag. I swear it's like people want to be condescending towards others. If you guys knew you could make that much money off of one card, you'd probably do it. fucking hypocrites
It's small minded people like you who give card collectors a bad name :) (btw I'm not a card collector but I couldn't help replying to such an idiotic comment). People spend $200 on a jacket because they like it, who intentionally wants to look like a douchebag? And yes people pay a lot of money just to "watch sweaty guys hit around a ball" because it's entertainment, it's a sport dip ass
This was really fun to watch. I love seeing good things happen to people. Never wound up with anything that rare playing in my teens, but it was a funny flashback recognizing some of the cards he flipped through.

That immediately is a massive advantage, specially when playing vintage when the games are incredibly fast paced. Mox Ruby is restricted in vintage, which means you can only have 1 of them. But lets say, before they restricted them, you drew 4 of them in your opening hand. Even a single Mox Ruby is extremely powerful.
That's not really the same. When you buy a video game or a new part you know exactly what youre getting. Opening a pack of trading cards was always incredibly fun. I remember being in 3rd grade and receiving 2 packs of yugioh cards from my mom. I opened the first and pulled out an ultra rare toon summoned skull, and a super rare toon world on the second. I practically shit myself with excitement.
me neither i was more focused on who the hell spends 1300$ on a card. I don't care how much you like the game unless you're rich that is a grotesque waste of money.
Ronan I can read... the title "Guy opens 1300$ magic card & flips!" Hence why I clicked on it because I wanted to know why someone would spend 1300$ on a card. And after watching it I still don't get it.
I can explain it without sounding like an asshole! So basically, people play Magic competitively, and also some card collectors want certain cards and will pay a lot for them. You can earn a lot of money from tournaments! And so people want to win tournaments with the best cards, and thats why cards can cost so much. :)
bro , that wazs a pack from when me and my brother played MTG , which was when i was in fucking 1st and 2nd grade, so like 91-92 , like 25 year old deck
A mint Mox Ruby can go for much higher than $1,000. Especially with low supply, he could really price it for anything and it would be a valid price. Just depends on how much someone in the world is willing to pay for a mint Mox Ruby.
Isn't a bit retarded to buy a stupid game card for 1500$ or 3000$ ?? Do they think this card is really magic or what? This is just confirming that this game is made for stupid losers.
2:01 "We are adding 3000+ subscribers a Month" From the date this video released to the moment I commented this comment is almost 42 Months (off by 3 days) 3000 x 42 = 126,000 subs And he is now at roughly 140,000 subs That is one hell of a psychic...

When I first started playing, there was this guy who played for a long time that I played against. He had 4 Black Lotus in his deck for the purpose of getting a 1st turn win by making me draw out my deck using Tolorian Academy and Time Warp. I also remember at that time Alpha set stuff was expensive. Beta set stuff not so much. Unlimited set stuff was like trash. I actually had a couple dual lands and used them... Without deck protectors.
I've been playing magic since revised. There is a lot wrong with that starter deck. The least of which is the pixelization on the mox. My counterfeit black lotus has the same pixelization.
i love how half the comments are bashing people who "waste" money on cards people spend on whatever they want, everyone probably has spent money on something that seems useless to someone else, who cares
Andy Melonseed obviously y'all care when u take the time out of your day to form a rebuttal. I agree that it's dumb to judge others spending, but don't say you don't care when it obviously bothers you.
"WHY am I HERE, this was in my recc..." ...You're here because you clicked on it. The video, the thing that doesn't start unless you click on it. TH-cam has an algorithm, that's why it was in your recommended. But YOU'RE here cause you clicked on it. That's why... You... FFS.
I miss playing this with my friends. Learning how to use the stack together was fun and frustrating. The art of the cards was awesome and building a deck was awesome, good times.
TriggerHappyTristan I thought thats how much the pack cost? So I thought he paid 1300$ for a chance of getting a rare card. A mox ruby is only 1.3k$? I mean “only” but still isnt the lotus like 60k$?
+N Jugs My jaw was gaping for at least 60 seconds when he tried to slice the plastic open pressing the scissors into the cards. I pretty much have to dislike due to complete stupidity.
I have a bunch of these same cards in my old collection, are they worth anything even if they're slightly beat up? Like not ceased but scratched a little or slight wear on the edges
Possibly. Looking at the details of the card will determine if they came out in MTG's limited edition alpha, limited edition beta, or unlimited editions. Cards from those sets could possibly be anywhere from $3-5 to hundreds. Use google to find detail info and magiccards.info to find price.
"oh man you messed up my piece of paper by soiling it with some particles of your oils and DNA now I can't successfully live my life with a sense of accomplishment whatever shall I do????"
mtgheadquarters that was soo much fun, this channel is awesome. im looking for that beta pack right now. ive got some unopened packs, if i donated them would you be interested in opening them in a vid , and maybe giving a shoutout?
Spending 500$ to burn a deck of cards? Go ahead, I really hope there are the 6k$ cards in there, which means you did not only lose the 500$ for the deck but you are not going out of it with a 5,5k win as you would have. I doubt that you get the cash back by any amount of views.
Rob Millington Protects it though. Even contact with skin oil or the backs of other cards, can wear and degrade a card in short order. I sleeve every rare I own that's worth more than $5 just on general principle.
No, it actually doesnt. It protects them from getting damaged yes, but the oils on your skin literally do NOTHING to the cards. When you get them graded they dont use gloves. You can touch the cards with your bare hands for 15 years and they will still be minty fresh lmao
not at all, thats why they have a coating over them that makes them slick to prevent that from happening. Touching the cards do nothing to the value. The sooner everyone learns that the better lol
It's not about the possible click bait. Things like sub4sub or asking for subscribers or shout outs are bad. You should never worry about your subscriber count, honestly. They should be a bonus of the hard work you put into making the videos.
subscriber = money money = more videos in regards to the click bait wtf do you expect him to put as a video title ofther than he got a rare card or 2? and asking for a like, comment and sub is done on pretty much every channel that actually cares about growth
Actually, you don't earn money from subscribers. Nobody does. You earn money from adsense. I shouldn't justify clickbait and why it's bad. There's a difference between asking once and begging. Self explanatory.
In that set (unlimited I believe), all of the borders were white. I guess they were still trying to figure out what card design looked best when unlimited came out.
After 20 years I finally got back into mtg and I loved this video.... You made me so nervous a decade later.... seeing you take the blade of those scissors unto the deck itself and force it into the cards was mad o.o
idk wtf this is but i clicked on it....
+Wedge Lad It was in my recommended to, ive never looked up magic cards in my life on youtube...
same xD,
Lmao me too
me too hahaha
+Wedge Lad Glad I'm not alone
"Try not to put any spoilers in the comments"
**puts spoiler in title**
Technically, no, he didn't, he just put how much the rares are worth in the title, not what they are.
Dargonhuman "Guy 'opens' $1300 magic card"
psshh clickbait isn't a spoiler
SmokingCures I'm not talking about the use of 'guy' and '$1300'
cjzona123 Yeah nevermind I read it as '$1300 magic deck'
I have no idea what this means but I'm happy for you.
I too am very confused.
A Power Nine card is among the rarest in MTG.
+Chaotic Note I play Magic a bit, and I don't even know why it's so rare, this, Power Nine...
because it's free to play and use and gives colored mana with no drawback
pretty fucking broken
We need more people like you.
It's so funny looking at the comments and seeing all the people who don't play Magic be so confused.

So how much is this pack? He mentions it being the most expensive pack he ever bought... is it 7,95$ ( he says something like that)
nizidibi that's how much the deck would cost when it was out but it's worth a lot more now
Drink NukaClassic that's only if you play standard if you play constructed there's no limitations except deck size and it's actually really fun
black hole*
Drink NukaClassic well technically everything in life is a waste of money. You spend money on everything just to later never use said thing. Which is a waste of money. The point of spending your money on this game is to have fun while you have it
Yet another video that was on my recommend videos that idk why I'm watching

This video would probably seem way cooler if I knew something about Magic cards...
+Matt Hofstadt same, never heard of this game

Well you clicked on the video and commented lmaoo
yeah... idk either i came here by pure curiousity lmfao
Armand Tonga Nice flat earth map.
Make sure if you open any really old collectable sealed decks, you open them like this guy did to maximize damage with fingernails and blunt scissors
I think a 100 ton Hydraulic press would be a good way to open it. ;D
No gloves either. The collector in me is shrieking,
Your collection probably sucks. Besides, many people even you may not even notice whether a card was handles without gloves. There are ways to clean things you wont even know about.
Pussies
Well I finally found it, a gathering of virgins..
why is this recommended for me, I don't even know what magic the gathering is.
well you DID click on it... thats gotta mean something right?
Well your profile has a starcraft cat. Starcraft was made by blizzard which made hearthstone. Hearthstone is magic the gathering warcraft edition. Maybe that's why it was there :3
I didnt know it was starcraft
begone pleb
false advertisement and he got excited over an ugly card
gloves, my man. gloves
+DeboSc2 And no scissors lol
+DeboSc2 Freshly washed hands are less damaging than gloves.
+kazuan22 Very wrong, oils on your hands and oils from soaps used can leave oil stains on the card that can bring it from a 10 to a 9.
+ThreeDaysOfDan When you are dealing with collectors items, CONDITION IS EVERYTHING. Just wear the goddamn gloves.
ThreeDaysOfDan PSA.....
"Don't put spoilers in the comments" *Titles the video "Guy opens $1300 Magic Card"*
But doesn't say which $1300 card.

I can explain it without sounding like an asshole! So basically, people play Magic competitively, and also some card collectors want certain cards and will pay a lot for them. You can earn a lot of money from tournaments! And so people want to win tournaments with the best cards, and thats why cards can cost so much. :)

TH-cam has an algorithm, that's why it was in your recommended.
But YOU'RE here cause you clicked on it. That's why... You... FFS.
cool man
sometimes autoplay gets you to this vid.
Actually it autoplayed after the last video of economy theories from my professor.
real905hours says the Kid w Roblox videos hahaha!
Yeah no shit man, you think you sound smart saying that? Obviously people are asking why the algorithm is showing them this.
I miss playing this with my friends. Learning how to use the stack together was fun and frustrating. The art of the cards was awesome and building a deck was awesome, good times.
I could print one of those out online tape it to a shit card and put it in a sleeve.
+Rare Pepe General OMG you are a genius OMG OMG
+Rare Pepe General That's how I proxy decks to test :D
+Rare Pepe General Yes I believe those are proxy cards and upon inspection are shown to be worth nothing.... I could print money out to but....
+Rare Pepe General Using your logic, I can print out $100 bills, tape them to my $1 bills, and be considered rich.
OH MY GAWD, IM A FUCKING GENIUS!
mtg would be up your ass if you got caught selling a reprint
7:00 thank me later
thanks
thx ur a god
ty lol
TY
thx lol
Try not to spoil it in the comments...
Title: Guy Opens $1300 Magic Card & Flips!
TriggerHappyTristan I thought thats how much the pack cost? So I thought he paid 1300$ for a chance of getting a rare card. A mox ruby is only 1.3k$? I mean “only” but still isnt the lotus like 60k$?
Alpha Black Lotus only goes for about $13k.
TriggerHappyTristan this is a stolen TH-cam video
Stolen video on TH-cam.... That's just stupid sounding.
If I record this on VHS and show it at the MagicCardClub, will it be stolen?
The pack costs 1300$ right? Since you can't "open" a card?
I had a tonne of these cards back in the day that i traded for an ounce of weed... wished i still had them, might be worth slightly more now
Samite Healer, Drain Life, Regeneration..... Hhhhhhaaaaahhhhaaa FUCK YEAH!!!!!......MOXXXXXXX RUBY.
Had me in tears laughing replay
Nice Pull
im just really stoned and like how these cards look.
9:02 Michael Jackson lives.
i've never seen anyone struggle so hard to open a pack of cards in my entire life.
He has to be careful to not damage the cards
+Shane Cheah lol he tried to slice the end of the package with SCISSORS
+N Jugs I do agree that scissors suck, but he was pinching the plastic correctly just before he started poking the edges with safety scissors.
+Ryan Tilley Haha so true!
6:59 The part you came here for.
look a mox ruby with a free thumb print, discounted $250.00. Gloves wear them.
+Nathan Wiener yeah, and for that I gave him the thumbs down.
+Nathan Wiener your dumb
+soralink411 haha every Card ever pulled from a pack has a thumb print these are all TCG get over it does not hurt the worth one bit.
"oh man you messed up my piece of paper by soiling it with some particles of your oils and DNA now I can't successfully live my life with a sense of accomplishment whatever shall I do????"
+soralink411 you're* your dumb means he owns something called dumb.
"try not to put spoilers in the comments" puts it in his title insted.
Croveanx moron, this video was not recorded by this uploader.
I don't understand
Where's dark magician
I hope you step on a lego.
Yeah where's the blue eyes white dragon
Fuck I have both those cards but I dunno where
Ikr, thus guy must be trash if he doesn't even have a dark magician.
How much did this cost?
+Datfrogaming I agree, how much did that starter deck cost?
That's not the price of a original starter deck woman. .
At least 500 dollars, AT LEAST imo.
dairo1 well dang that quite a bit!
+dairo1 Why you're talking with yourself?
Opening starts at 2:30
watching this for the first time now and you are almost at 115k...CONGRATS!
+Barry Stone 117k now!

Update from September of 2021, this is a $4,200 card.
Opens vintage pack without rubber gloves..
TheNoobtuberr lol I think you think vintage means something else other then it's actual meaning
LMAO
TheNoobtuberr because it's fake
HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE RARES ARE BUT HE PAID 1300.00 FOR THE PACK?
spectrumlocalb191 boy he didn't pay 1300 for the pack
These comments are so freaking confused as to what this video is saying
Do you think I would get more money and more views if I bought one these decks then burnt it?
shit-ton of dislikes, though. GO FOR IT, BRO!
Greasyphil420 you couldn't afford one of these decks unless your willing to drop a ridiculous amount of money.
I will like the video if you do it. lol
DO IT! 😂
Spending 500$ to burn a deck of cards?
Go ahead, I really hope there are the 6k$ cards in there, which means you did not only lose the 500$ for the deck but you are not going out of it with a 5,5k win as you would have.
I doubt that you get the cash back by any amount of views.
He spends more time begging for subscribers than he does the actual opening
Wait... is the the quartering? Lol
Your reaction put a gigantic smile on my face.
"try not to put spoilers in the comments section"
And then you spoil it in the title?
sleeve the darn thing
Why? doesnt make the value go up any lmao
Actually, if it is handle to much, your natural oils will smear the ink and make the cards value zippo
not at all, thats why they have a coating over them that makes them slick to prevent that from happening. Touching the cards do nothing to the value. The sooner everyone learns that the better lol
What r those old time starter decks or something looks like a playing card box?
didn't even get a shiny Charizard!
I have no idea what going on
I don't even know how I ended up here
I've been stuck here for 6 days
+Jacob R Help me i'm here since 97, i was in that fucking deck and i didn't even know how the game works
+Non Sicuro In the jungle you must wait, until the dice read 5 or 8.
Stannis Baratheon
i smell Jumangi
Down-voted for constantly begging for subscribers over and over.
I agree. Better to earn the subscribers yourself through hard work.
It's not about the possible click bait. Things like sub4sub or asking for subscribers or shout outs are bad.
You should never worry about your subscriber count, honestly. They should be a bonus of the hard work you put into making the videos.
subscriber = money
money = more videos
in regards to the click bait wtf do you expect him to put as a video title ofther than he got a rare card or 2?
and asking for a like, comment and sub is done on pretty much every channel that actually cares about growth
Actually, you don't earn money from subscribers. Nobody does. You earn money from adsense.
I shouldn't justify clickbait and why it's bad.
There's a difference between asking once and begging. Self explanatory.
stfu ur fat ass hell
Lol "How exciting is this?..." *crickets*
I just bought a used 2002 car for that much money
gr8 b8 m8 I r8 8/8
+Taz Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn lol

"Try not putting spoilers in the comments" Reads the title hmmmm!?!?!
i dont even play mtg why am i here
lmfao
Don't post spoilers in the comments
Me: Darth Vader is Luke's father
What's the deal with the different colour borders on the cards ?
In that set (unlimited I believe), all of the borders were white. I guess they were still trying to figure out what card design looked best when unlimited came out.
+Aaron Chesser At the time of Unlimited's release, any cards reprinted from previous sets were given a white border.
"No spoilers in the comments" .... makes the title of the video a huge spoiler
Why are 3 year old videos being recommended to me xD but damn nice pull
Felipe Lopez It's definitely fake.
After 20 years I finally got back into mtg and I loved this video.... You made me so nervous a decade later.... seeing you take the blade of those scissors unto the deck itself and force it into the cards was mad o.o
