I'm still amazed by 3d printers. My mind hasn't adapted to thinking about just printing off a part when I'm trying to figure out projects. Very clever steps to make the completed mold, from the print to the silicone to the foam structure.
Before I graduated from high school I had the opportunity to 3D print several things. After five attempts, and lots of waiting (they printers were slow {it took 10 hours for something I could fit in the palm of my hand}, modeling took time, and other people needed them) I printed two very small cars I designed in a somewhat lackluster program. I have those sitting on a shelf and it's still one of my favorite things I wish I could revisit.
Its a slow learning process and curve seems to be long but its awesome when it comes to you. I had just last week, the experience realize i didn't have to search and spend money i just drew what i needed in cad and printed it off in 2 hours
So wholesome! I love seeing Nate happy and upping the game on some of the old projects. Only thing that could make it better would be if Calbits showed up
I think the micro-ridges left in the silicone mold by the 3D print is what made those sides non-sticky. I think this could be mitigated in the future by making the 3d printed parts smoother, either by coating the entire print assembly with something like you did the joints or individually prepping the parts with an acetone chamber (melts the 3D prints slightly and removes layer lines).
Normal sticky hands can stick to windows, but this giant hand looks like it would more easily smash through a window. Cleaning up might be easier though, with all the shards sticking to the hand. XD
This is the type of stuff I loved watching you and Cali doing on The King of Random and I love watching you doing this type of stuff on your channel and having fun with it.
This right here, this giddy as a child in a toy store Nate is what was missing from the last year I actually watched tkor still. So happy to see this side of you again this last couple years.
I was laughing hysterically along with you Nate 😂 You meed to do a giant wall crawler, they were my second favorite novelty next to these sticky hands when i was a kid. You'd throw the octopus looking wall crawler at a wall, and it would slowly crawl down the wall. You have to try it!
Maybe they can do it in a football field or a soccer field or something like that 😅😅😅like before the game like the football game or the soccer game 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Just when I thought I’d seen everything, Nate takes it to the next level. I think you need to 3D print a second hand and then use them to play hand ball with Calli. Or use them as oars in a canoe race with Calli. ❤😂
I normally really dislike the "thanks to the patreons" part of any video. But this time, I was just so proud for you that you had so many people who weren't just financially capable of, but also willing to support your channel. You go Nate
She might want to set it on fire. And while I do love the giant sticky hand, I'd totally like to see her as giddy as Nate while watching the hand burn. 😆
When you’re making a master for a mould the surface has to be finished the way you want it to be when you cast it. You can sand your master or coat it in resin next time and polish it before you take a mould to stop this issue from happening ❤
1. Nate playing with the extra sticky goop is a definite mood. 2. Thanks for the idea of using insulation foam for a jacket. Plaster wrap can get expensive.
To be honest, when you first joined tkor i didn't really care for you, but over the years i've come to recognize you as the true heir to the throne of random
I'd love to see more sandcasting videos because seeing you improve each video is so amazing, hopefully you'll sandcast some templates for future projects like a master sword out of sandcasted brass etc.
A 3D printer looks like a lot of fun. And the amount of fun Nate seems to be having with a sticky hand. While I can't explain it, I can totally see what has him so happy. :P I can't wait to see what will happen to or get done to the giant sticky hand! :D
As cool as this was, I don't understand why Nate couldn't just melt down a cube of thermoplastic elastomer (what they're made from) instead, and saved himself a lot of time destroying all those hands.
Almost all places have a minimum order. I used to build/sell gaming PCs back in the early 2000s, and the only way I could get OEM components (not retail boxed versions) was to purchase lots of 10 or more. I'd imagine it's the same, or even harder, to get raw materials from manufacturers or suppliers of stuff like this.
Sadly, the true heart of TKOR died several years ago in a paragliding accident after handing over the role of Host to Nate, but I agree with Nate carrying it from there very well. I unsubbed from TKOR when they let him go. Cali was already gone and the 2 that were left I didn't care for.
When you made the giant printed hand I was CERTAIN you were going to be filling the melted hand goo inside of it to form the shape. Between the gaps and the unlikelihood that the printed hand cast would not melt, I’m glad you went with a mould. You’ve clearly put some thought into this.
The sheer radiant joy on your face as you mess around with this ridiculous object just warms my heart so much. Would absolutely watch more videos of this childish buffoonery.
@@Jack-cm9yeit's made of the same kind of stuff but shaped like a spider, you throw it against the wall and it sticks and then slowly starts to tumble down the wall.

It is so wholesome! It's so cute seeing him happy and having fun. I haven't watched tkor in years and he just kinda popped up in recommendeds lol
😂 Nate's boyish laughter and glee at the end made my day. 😊
It's why half the universe is in love with him and his antics.

I believe he could just heat gun the non sticky side...
Also the hand and fingers need to be more flat.
@@bismuth7730Brilliantly simple solution
just want to add that PLA will not react with acetone. you will need to print in ABS for that
I was thinking the same thing, just coming down here to say the same

Just seeing Nate's childlike enthusiasm is worth it

I would love a series where you revisit old projects you want to improve on
Edit: a series where Nate and Calli revisit old projects and make them better.
I second this opinion @@jamesnewnam9889
Nothing is more pure than the unadulterated joy Nate had with this hand.
Nate is such a kid in an adult's body. It's nice to see him so excited about such projects.

Fun fact: Washing a sticky hand with dish soap makes it sticky again. Most of the time they don’t tell you so you spend more money but it’s super easy
They don't tell you because the packaging is minimal ad kids lose them before or soon after they lose most or all of their stickiness 😂.
