    Thank you! I needed a new "old" craft to do while sitting in camp when we do Historical events to teach history to those who didn't learn it in School ! Your video was so clear and complete and I can even teach it to the youth.
    God bless you Lovely Lady!

    Instead of cutting all the circles by hand, which I used to do, I have found a rotary circle cutter made by Olfa. It is godsent. If you want a 2" circle you slide the pin to 1" and spin and it will cut your felt in a perfect circle. You can cut hundreds real fast. Good if you have arthritis. It saved my poor hands. It is really worth it. Can be found at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and online.

    Thank you for giving the history of this craft and how the name originated! I’ve always wondered what Penny Rugs were! I mean I’ve seen them in craft shops but never knew what they were used for. I wish there were more craft videos on here that explained the origins of the art form.

    Thanks so much for this great tutorial and history. Never actually saw anyone use real pennies in their rug but now I'm going to try it too.

    This was so interesting. I’m in the UK, and we don’t have this craft here. Thanks for sharing the history of the penny rug. People were so inventive then, and recycled before it was fashionable, obviously out of necessity. Will be trying a penny rug of my own, looks a very relaxing craft.

    For your viewers: I use sandpaper circles to lay on the wool and cut around those! Works awesome! and FAST!
    anddd...I just saw there is a Sizzix template cutter thing too!

    When my mom taught me to cut out the pennies, we traced them on freezer paper then ironed them to the wool and cut them out. She said pinning the material can interfere with the roundness of the circle

    I'm a new sub! Needed some tips on making my penny rug! I have oodles of small scraps from cutting thrift store clothing up and washing/drying to felt-to use for hooked wool rugs! I just couldn't toss all those little pieces! You have a very pleasant voice and speak the perfect speed! Love your little tips too! About getting more wool on Etsy, and putting pennies INSIDE! I DID NOT know this! Thank you!!

    May I ask where you found your fabric? I like the colors you chose.

    • @RebeccaRohrHome
      @RebeccaRohrHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      The gray wool felt I used for the back was from an old wool coat my husband had for years. I washed it in hot water, which is the felting process, then cut out the stripes of fabric I could use for my project. The 2” yellow mustard circles I ordered from a lady on eBay. The smallest circle were the 1” felt circles and I picked out the darker color from a multicolored pack, these also were purchased from the same lady that use to sell felt precuts on eBay. Thanks for stopping by.

      @@RebeccaRohrHome thank you. This is completely new to me. So when I’m searching for this fabric, am I just putting “wool felt” in the search engine? Also, can you share the ladies name that you purchased your fabric from? I love your projects

    • @RebeccaRohrHome
      @RebeccaRohrHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gdgirouard felt or wool felt in the searches. The lady on eBay no longer sells unfortunately. If I see another like her I will send you the link.

    how do you wash a penny rug? mine really needs it

    • @RebeccaRohrHome
      @RebeccaRohrHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would hand wash it in your sink, rinse well, drain in sink until it’s not dripping wet. Lay it out on a towel, roll it up in the towel until all the water has been absorb, then put it out side to air dry. Lay flat to dry. I would not hang it up. Hope this helps. Make sure it’s completely dry before placing it back on your wood furniture. 😊
