A fabulous bike with a powerful engine, but well manageable in all conditions, with its electronics at the top, since April 2018 I have traveled 107600km, a bike from which you can never get off FANTASTIC
Indeed, it is the perfect "do it all" bike. It's why it's gotten MCN's "Best All Around Bike Of The Year" award every year. I've only gone 10 000km on it so far. But 4.5 hour rides are a piece of cake. 🙂
It was absolutely a part of the plan. When i bought the one i have now in 2020, i said i would sell it after 3 years and buy the 2023 model. Kawasaki seam to update the 1000SX every 3 years, so the 2023 model will probably be even better again then the 2020 model. Due to a change in economy though, i think i'll have to buy something smaller and cheaper next time 😢
I'm using Dainese 2 piece racing leather with long wool underwear and a "Gore-Tex" jacket. I have knee pucks on the leather trousers. Basically, i just use my summer gear racing leathers, with a jacket and wool underwear and heated gloves. Works fine.

Hi. What kind of troursers are you wearing in winter time that might let you touch your knee down?
