Hi Wayne . I was there at the auction bidding on this truck. I was the number two bidder. Your Dad just would not let me have it ! Lol . I wanted this truck so bad , still do. Love to here what youve done with it. Good to see it again !

Sick Truck, I have a 64 Chevy Panel. I'm jealous of your 4WD, but I got a kick out of seeing we have what looks to be the same Siren.

Sweet truck! Must have been built on a Monday or Friday (CMG), as for the roof top lights, I have never seen Federal 184's used before. Most CD trucks had the Federal 175 Beacon Rays(Hill light) installed. Digging the ride, emergency vehicles are the best for not being all rotted out. Take care!

Hey Jon, good to hear from you, I was amazed to find a pic of my dad at the auction, I assume you took that picture of him. He was a relentless auction participant! He passed the truck on to me because I had a garage for it and the skills to maintain it. Given how original it is I always thought it would be great in film, i.e. a classic leasing firm for the film industry. My dad passed away years ago and I’ve enjoyed having it on the road but alas, I’m thinning the herd and hoping it finds a good home where it will be appreciated for the artifact it is. I didn’t pay much attention the the RUSH stamp on the invoice until watching “Courier”, a Cold War film that centered on the Cuban Missile crisis- 1962 now RUSH makes sense.

Yes , I did . Sorry to here about your Dad. He was in disguise that day wearing a jacket and hat with holes in it. He kept outbidding me by 25.00 each time till I had gone past my limit . He did tell me , if I remember correctly ? That he was buying this for his son who was in , the Golf war ? He said it didn't matter what I bid , he was getting it ! We talked for a little bit afterword's . I would be a great home for it if its for sale , I just finished doing a frame off restoration on a 1966 GMC 4x4 panel you can see here if this link works . www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=821717

@@jonkrogh3173 Wow! impressive restoration, congrats. Much to his families consternation, my dads daily attire was what you witnessed. He had new versions of that Irish hat he wore everywhere but insisted on wearing the ratty one. My younger bother who was in the service received a different car from my dad. The truck is currently on Hemmings Auctions: www.hemmings.com/auction/1962-gmc-other

Looks like a Baby Jane rescue truck. Police used the Baby Jane's for rooftop police work and other emergencies, Law enforcement arranged for a Baby Jane to go first in, with a Calamity Jane in reserve, at a political rally in Pennsylvania in 1972, where a child fired from a fairgrounds roof.
