    Thank u, Andrew! Can you correct me? Is it “You might regret moving there” the same as You might regret to move there? 8:55 video pause

    • @CrownAcademyEnglish
      @CrownAcademyEnglish  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi. Thanks for your comment.
      The meaning is that you will regret a *PREVIOUS* decision. If we regret something from the past, the form is "regret" + ING form of the verb. We do NOT use "regret" + infinitive for this meaning.
      Another example situation:
      I shout at my friend. Later, I regret it.
      We say: "I regret shouting at my friend" (correct)
      We do not say: "I regret to shout at my friend" (wrong)
      Andrew

    Before expressing the judgment on which proverb I liked the most, I have to congratulate you for the calm and precise way in which he makes his lesson. To get back to your question, for me the best is: every cloud has a silver lining. As a second I would choose: too many cook spoil the broth. In Italy, there is a very similar saying that goes like this: with many cocks to sing you never do day. A cordial greeting, Roberto.
