I've had much worse happen with the armoury. I've stopped using it. The last problem I had. 3 rank 7 yellow gems disappear . Also I've had complete items disappear for over 24 hours. Including gems. I have complained to Blizzard about this issue. As usual no response and no fix. THE ARMOURY IS BROKEN!!!!
Oh jesus. That's terrible. Sorry to hear about that, but I can confirm what you say is true, because Ive seen other reports on the Diablo Immortal forums with that same issue. I hope they fix this.
I think in your case the essence for that weapon/skill hasn't been extracted, that could be why it switches with the gear equipped. The armory has an option to save essenses equipped only and since you don't have the essence extracted its messing with the exchange. Once you have that legendary essence extracted it should switch your gear rank as well. But yeah, on the whole there is very little clarity on how to properly use the armory and it doesn't do a good job when switching between builds. Lost in complexity
Thanks for pointing that out. That could very well be. I will have to check later on in the day once I get back home, but this issue has been super frustrating and just last week, it ate one of my builds again which had like 20k Damage. Thank you for the input.
