    CONTEXT
CARLOS DENGLER is the bassist and keyboardist of the acclaimed NYC-based band Interpol. The band signed with Matador Records in 2002 and moved to Capitol Records in 2006. Interpol is currently working on their fourth record. While on the road in 2008, Carlos conceived of and created "My Friends Told Me About You". Carlos also composed the original score for "My Friends," showcasing the work of bass clarinet pioneer Ian Mitchell
An independent filmmaker and visual artist from Chicago, DANIEL RYAN elicits a bold visual trademark composed of stylistic symmetry with an emphasis on the surreal. Ryan collaborated with Interpol for an audio-video installation, which was incorporated into the band's live set for their most recent European tour. Ryan cowrote, directed, and coedited "My Friends Told Me About You".

I hope that some good person could contribute with subtitles in Spanish. As well, I would be very grateful with a transcription of the dialogues in English:

It’s funny, I really love Carlos’s personality and I could listen to him talk for hours, but from the snippets of conversation here I could completely understand why some people, (particularly Paul, Daniel and Sam) could find him unbearable and pretentious after long periods of time.

The band members have pretty much said as much in interviews. Paul Banks admired how someone could be such an uncompromising asshole.

Hello Andrew, I like your comment here.
In my opinion, Carlos was just somebody with big ideas and a heart full of emotions he could not bear, let alone manage. Everyone gets on the same boat when it comes to criticize him, but not many really get down to ask themselves: why?
I relate a lot to him. When I was younger, I used to dislike one specific environment I was almost forced to be in. Not because anyone kept me there, but because I felt that's all I had and my success wasn't anywhere else. Then comes the dread. And then, you hate every single atom around you, and, being reserved, your whole head takes over your one little heart. Feeling misunderstood, feeling like everyone hates you. You start to hate everyone.
Is it immature? Absolutely. And how much can my persona form after such dislikable times?
I do not defend Carlos, but I understand him. And to this sunlight, people miss to get my waves, and I'm sure, the majority won't get his neither, because the culture of individualism has failed to serve people a teaspoon, even, of the grand scheme of things.

I love this. I assume the girl was Carlos too, she represented his artistry and the little boy his childhood dreams or his conscious. I don't know if I got the characters' names right, but the bald man would be his psychiatrist giving his advice about killing Belle, who was himself (Carlos), and she represents his wildest aspirations on being an artist and dreaming about a different way of life. I think that the movie shows what he didn't do, he just moved forward with her and I hope he's much happier and well succeeded on the inside, the most important thing. That was what I got watching it only once and English is not my first language so...

Really, I don’t really care if the movie isn’t “great”, it’s pretty damn good and artistic for just getting started with filmmaking, also just the aesthetic of this movie and watching Carlos act is reason enough for me to watch this film. Also, I heard that Carlos just wanted to make this mostly as a “distraction” from the band, and I feel if he really had the time and effort he could be a fantastic director.

Just sent you an email with the English and Spanish transcription in case you wanna update the subtitles of this :) Though for some reason, the SRT files kinda mess up the Spanish unicode characters... It was fun tho, pulling an all-nighter to synchronise these subtitles with the audio.

Although at the time (2010) Carlos said he wanted to focus on acting. In 2015/2016 Carlos admitted he had substance abuse issues and (if I recall correctly) he suffered from depression during OLTA tour. He was pretty much done with the band after that tour.

@@tessfenmore6180 Paul and Carlos both had serious substance abuse issues, as the founder, Daniel was the rock holding them together and Sam was the responsible, serious dad-like figure watching over them, eventually the rift was too great. I wish I knew of Interpol during their four-piece era, but I would be too young to go to their concerts by myself anyway. I saw Interpol at Atlanta this past Friday, and they were phenomenal. I just wonder what it would have been like to see Carlos up there as well.

This is amazing!! Whoever has written a script knows how difficult it is, and I know for a fact Carlos had more to do with the literary script than the technical one, although you can feel his essence on both, if you are a faithful reader of his blog.
I love his acting and really hope to see his new stuff. I'm glad he continued his true path. People forget we, artists, tend to 'camp', our life is a discovery, and we are the ones who know exactly how to act to threat a sentiment in people, but, sometimes, that sentiment takes over our own selves.
I wish I could talk to him and tell him how he is one of my biggest inspirations, somebody whom I admire exceedingly as a writer, and the one who pushed me to write again and challenge myself, since english is not my first language. Best regards.
