I just repaired my lid the same way. I wish I had repaired the original lid like this, as the replacement lid only lasted 10 months before cracking and breaking. My wife and I were very careful using the lid.
I’m having that problem right now! I also put the liquid laundry detergent plastic container on the lid with a towel on bottom so it doesn’t fall off, but, sometimes it still falls! This was awesome! Thank You I will try it tomorrow!
This just happened to my same exact washer this past friday. I was about to order a new lid and then came across your video. Thanks for the tip, will be taking a trip to home depot tomorrow 👍🏼👍🏼
I did same repair and removed interior bracket where pin attaches to and filled ALL interior voids with JB Weld and pushed in deep with a wooden skewer and reassembled bracket and screwed in mounting pin. Smoothed all exposed JB Weld and let set 24 hours before installation. Works perfectly! Wish I could post a picture reply! Saved $350 for a new lid.
I've experienced the same thing. When the lid is closed I place heavy objects along the left side of the lid to make sure it's pretty flat. Then I place pressure on the lid directly on top of the lock and hold it until the red light indicates it's locked. So far so good!
Great tip idea! JB Weld...know it well! :) Will be using your tip. My lid #3 is starting to show fracture cracks, so need to fill it up as you mention. Thanks!
I tried the JB weld and it didn't last long. I sanded it all off and purchased a flat metal L bracket at home depot and something that is actually better than JB Weld and dried faster called Gorilla Weld. I cut the metal L bracket to size to go over the cracked corner area and as much as I could beyond the crack. I then mixed up the Gorilla Weld and coated one side of the L bracket and laid it down over the crack and clamped it down overnight. I then painted over it to match. It is now way stronger than new!
I currently have gorilla tape over the areas that have cracked and it works as long as I put something heavy over the left side. I would love a video showing your fix. I have a new lid ordered and will probably put the gorilla tape over those areas before they start cracking.
@@davidneutze I since replaced my washer and dryer after contacting Maytag. They offered me 40% off a new washer and dryer so I took the deal.. The repair was permanent and lasted. Hope this helps.
I know it was a few hundred dollars so it wasn't cheap. I just searched the make and model for a new lid and found one. As an update on mine, it's still holding together solid!

Thank you! I am off to Home Depot right now to get some plastic epoxy. Game on!
We have the same problem on ours.
Thanks for the video. I will never buy another Maytag.

@@Denny_H The ink to the photos you mentioned does not work?
John, Sorry, those pictures were deleted out of my computer recently as I was running out of space on Google Drive@@phototec
Where did you buy your first lid and how much? I’m going to have to replace the lid on mine

The lid locks go bad even when they are lined up. You will get an f5 error code.
