However, Katie resigned her House seat (2-year election cycle) to run for the Senate (6-year election cycle) because when she ran for Senate, she was up for re-election in the House, and would have had to run two simultaneous campaigns just in case. That’s expensive, time consuming, and she’s a single mom, and not at all wealthy since she doesn’t engage in the insider trading and backroom political corruption that so many others in Congress do.
If every member of Congress, both House and Senate were as smart and thoughtful about what they were doing as Katie Porter is it would probably solve about 95% of the problems we now have. Unfortunately, we elect morons to represent us and if they’re not morons they’re probably being paid off by lobbyists.

There is one man in my house (me) and 3 women (my wife and two "border-line adult" daughters. I assure you - I am the dishwasher loading expert in my house and it's not even close. More dishes, more clean/less rejects, no upside down "whaevers" filled with semi-dirty water. I can go to a "full" dishwasher, reorganize it, and fit in another 30% stuff that will come out cleaner than the smaller amount of stuff that was there in the first place. Cutlery tray or basket, adjustable or ridged tongs... doesn't matter. There are SO many other things in life I'd like to be good at... even competent at (playing a guitar, mudding dry-wall, Texas hold em) ... but this is the gift I was given. I don’t know the exact context but it looks house republicans voted to roll back some updated appliance related efficiency standards announced by the dept of energy back in April. A couple weeks back a lawsuit was also filed by forumshopping right wingers in Americas favorite federal court. So there’s something about this that they want scotus to review

There is one man in my house (me) and 3 women (my wife and two "border-line adult" daughters. I assure you - I am the dishwasher loading expert in my house and it's not even close. More dishes, more clean/less rejects, no upside down "whaevers" filled with semi-dirty water. I can go to a "full" dishwasher, reorganize it, and fit in another 30% stuff that will come out cleaner than the smaller amount of stuff that was there in the first place. Cutlery tray or basket, adjustable or ridged tongs... doesn't matter. There are SO many other things in life I'd like to be good at... even competent at (playing a guitar, mudding dry-wall, Texas hold em) ... but this is the gift I was given. So, Ms. Porter; First, I hope you continue to serve in whatever capacity you see fit, and otherwise, I dare you to a dishwasher loading contest.
In my household I am the "dishwasher boss". Nobody can load the dishwasher better than me. It drives them crazy when I follow behind them and re-sort the dishwasher load.

Rep. Porter, my wife goes to work in a Federal civil service job every day. I am the one who loads, and typically unloads, the dishwasher. And over the course of a 40 year marriage and a total of four Masters Degrees (two each), along with sharing 14 years of Air Force service, we both know a lot about dishwashers.
That said, I'm curious . . . what stupidity were your Republican colleagues peddling? I'm guessing it had to do with energy consumption standards for dishwashers, but if you could please let us know where we can find their proposal, I would very much appreciate it. I suffer from depression, and I can always use something to laugh at.
