I’m actually glad that we have shows and movies that are going into the concept of anxiety because people can relate to it and learn that the only way to move pass it is by letting the people you love into your life.
Honestly I think this trend just speaks to how universal a feeling anxiety is. And a lot of people feel these shows/movies give voice to that universal feeling, even feeling cathartic. Art and culture often serve as a reflection of the society that makes them.
Anxiety is something that has; 1 no actually cause, it just happens in the characters head 2, no actual cure, it's just something the character is expected to "deal with" meaning it can also come back at any time to add drama where no drama exists and 3, is so prevalent that everyone can say "just like me I feel so seen"
I never actually realize i have once experienced a panic attack in my life until i watch inside out 2. they potrayed it so well and i experienced the exact same thing.
also see here how recurrent it is to move house in these stories. as if Disney were telling us that it is totally necessary for the character to leave where she was or else her life would never have changed for the better.
7:53 What would have been if, just like when Squidward told SpongeBob to empty his mind, Anxiety had also given the order to eliminate all memories from Riley's mind except those of being a good hockey player...and those of breathing
Anxiety portrayal is really everywhere these days. Lately, I've gone through a self-imposed marathon of the web series "Murder Drones" and avoided watching whole episodes until now so as to avoid being totally anxious over how it turns out in the very end the way i got overly anxious about how shows like Amphibia would end while they were still airing. I came to realize that the wait times make my own anxiety even worse, so I've taken to waiting until the very end of good series airing to start absorbing their full stories. I just finished watching the 7th of 8 episodes a few minutes ago and I can already feel the tension, worry, and of course anxiety that I haven't felt a full dose of since the days leading up to Amphibia's finale. Luckily, MD concludes in less than 48 hours, so I don't have to wait long. I don't know if it's healthy or cowardly to avoid whole episodes of anything until the grand finales because I realize I also sacrifice episode and plot discussions while they're still young, along with potentially solid communities that seem to fade away most of the time after their finales air. Maybe I'll change that by catching up on "The Amazing Digital Circus". Cue my own anxiety over that decision building up.
I’ve had a panic attack ONCE in my entire life. And it didn’t even feel that real to me like I can’t explain it 😅 I calmed down eventually though and honestly… I HOPE I NEVER EXPERIENCE THIS AGAIN. (Probably will though 😐)
Joy: well, are you relaxed Anxiety? Anxiety: a lot... although this little finger is still a little restless Fury: I'll take care of it! (he grabs her hand tightly) listen to me, little finger, or you calm down or I'll break you, do you understand? (the finger relaxes) ready, it's relaxed now.
I differently had anxiety like a lot thankfully I never had a panic attack. But only Disney Channel had did that even Cartoon Network & Nickelodeon did that. AND you should really talk about Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur S2 OM GOSH IT SOOO GOOD 6:31 Oh god don't remind me
I dunno, I think saying Disney is obsessed with anxiety is like saying that Disney is obsessed with happiness, because a lot of characters are shown being happy in their shows at one point or another... Anxiety is kinda just a normal feeling. And I wouldn't call it an obsession when four out of the many MANY shows Disney has made (all with different creatives behind them) have anxiety in them. 😅
I know another example of “anxious character” but he’s from a Dreamworks’s show. His name is Jim Lake Jr. from TrollHunters. Throughout the series, he shows signs of restlessness, lack of concentration, hyper-vigilance, and consistently worrying about others' well-being, mostly his loved ones, and has occasional breaking points when under a lot of stress. One memorable example I have in mind is that time he made a literal huge change of his life to have a better fighting chance, at cost of his old life in the process (that was a turning point of no return until the end of another cycle of Tales of Arcadia)
There was a Broken Karaoke which had anxiety as a theme, sung by not only Marcy and Libby, but also Candace from Phineas and Ferb, and Gloria from Big City Greens. It was done in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, so that's pretty cool. m.th-cam.com/video/CzZF0UItxOE/w-d-xo.html
Anxiety truly is something we can all relate to. No just in cartoons but also in real life. And I have my Top 10 favorite cartoon shows and movies that figure anxiety: 1. Puss in Boots the last wish. (Movie) 2. The owl house. (Show) 3. Gravity Falls. (Show) 4. My little pony friendship is magic.(show) 5. My little pony make your mark. (Show) 6. Inside out 2. (Movie) 7. Star Wars the clone wars. (Show) 8. Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken. (Movie) 9. Big city greens: the movie: spacecation. (Movie) 10. Toy Story 2 (movie) Have any of you seen any of these shows and movies?
idk if you saw it but 101 dalmatian street also features a character having an anxiety attack (I think?). In the ep "doggy da vincy" the main character of the ep of the same name gets overwhelmed and panicked as she got surrounded by a crowd of humans. I personally related to this scene, hence why I love bringing it up >:3
I have anxiety but I’ve never had an anxiety attack or a panic attack. I have G.A.D (generalized anxiety disorder) and social anxiety. My anxiety can cause me to have seizures. My last seizure was because of anxiety.

I like the people in my life like my family.

That's true. Modrrn society is the problem
Yeah, i think these anxiety disorders are a nice contribution for these protagonists respective journeys
I guess there’s one upside to Disney being more “aware”
Once inside out 2 came I realized that I had already had a panic attack and never realized it

They have a how parody song of all the Disney channel cartoons girls singing about how they are so anxious. Look it up. 😅
also see here how recurrent it is to move house in these stories.

@@NO_.GENDER I didn’t see that movie but it sounds interesting. Maybe I’ll watch it.
Inside Out 2 gave me my first Anxiety Attack while I was at work a month ago!
Personally, I blame the large amount of shocking world events in recent years for everyone getting so interested in anxiety.
I have anxiety but I’ve never had an anxiety attack or a panic attack. I have G.A.D (generalized anxiety disorder) and social anxiety. My anxiety can cause me to have seizures. My last seizure was because of anxiety.
Ima keep saying this until I get a response: imagine if one of the kids got stuck with the olms
I thought anxiety was a Pixar ip?
Keep up the depiction of anxiety.
Among adults sex sells. Among children anxiety sells. I don't know about you, but personally I count that as progress.
Nope, its actually just u
Modern Hollywood is obsessed with anxiety, sexuality and race, and essentially forgot about anythin other than being relatable to Twitter users
I prefer Disney show about revenge or support the US military industrial complex 😂
Still miss racist Disney
