    Hey guys! What do you think I should base my decision on? Right now, I’m thinking it’s honestly going to be whichever school offers the most money 😩😂

    • @achilletenkiang4636
      @achilletenkiang4636 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Congrats! I would leverage the full ride from Alabama to get more money from Georgetown!

    • @Majisty
      @Majisty 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      UCLA sounds like it would be a great option if you said you wanted to do Entertainment law-i just think there’s so much entertainment up there! It seems like the industry would be really robust!

    • @ep7042
      @ep7042 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To me it all depends on the money. Cali is super expensive so unless the Cali schools are giving you a full ride or really close to a full ride I would hesitate but DC is expensive too. The only caveat with DC is that there is a good transportation system so you can live outside of DC and still get to Georgetown.

      I am VERY proud of you. If you are willing, I would truly like to read your PS and Resume for admissions if you would be open to that. 12/15 schools you named are schools I'm applying to and I would LOVE your input. Have you made a decision yet on school?

    UCLA and Georgetown are my two dream schools! Congratulations, don’t let people bring down your accomplishments based on your URM status. You are a very well spoken and accomplished person!

    • @LifewithLataysia
      @LifewithLataysia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Yeah honestly no one has really said anything about being a URM to me because I think my overall application shows that was a minor factor, if even that.
      I have a MBA, worked more than full time all throughout college (including at a law firm). I’m an older applicant with plenty of life experience and I’ve been working at a very well known Fortune 500 company (top 50) negotiating contracts and managing people for almost 4 years. I’m also a pretty good writer so that’s what I would say to anyone that thought that ❤️

    Georgetown would be my top pick, followed by UCLA. Georgetown being one of the T14 school would open a lot more doors when you're looking for your first job out of law school. Congrat and best of luck.

      Duke is great but a few years ago, I got an email from their career service office asking if I were interested in hiring one of their recent graduates who was in the top 15% of his class. I'm a solo practitioner.

    You should definitely reach out to Emory. Also, if you’re interested in entertainment law, Georgia State offers a sports & media law certificate, along with your JD.

    I completed my graduate degree from Georgetown and recently decided to pursue law school. If you haven't yet decided, Georgetown is a great pick! Whatever route you go, I can tell from this video alone you will find success. Great job!

  • @littleluvbugg22
    @littleluvbugg22 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Wow congrats! You mentioned you wanted to do entertainment law so I was thinking that USC and UCLA would be good choices since the entertainment industry is in LA. Also I feel that Georgetown would be great because they have a "name" and you could work anywhere in the country ! But wherever you go I'm so happy for you and this is motivational🥰

    I live near Nashville, sales tax out here is pretty high. It’s the same as Cali. It gets cold pretty cold here sometimes and the rent is increasing sadly. A plus is that there’s opportunities here and the downtown area isn’t too bad either. A lot of people love Nashville and never leave. You definitely need a car in the area, city transit is still being developed in a sense Vanderbilt itself is definitely nice though

  • @ingyybaby
    @ingyybaby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Congratulations on all of your acceptances! I think that you should base it off of where you feel most comfortable living, the cost of living, and how much scholarship money they’re offering. There so many things to consider. As long as you make the best decision for you that’s all that matters!

  • @vickyyyy

    this gives me a lot of hope! currently studying for the lsat with a 3.7+ GPA & 2+ years of work experience and it's great to see you outperform your numbers! I lowkey put my law school dreams on the back burner 2 years ago as soon as my GPA dropped below a 3.8. 😩

    Vandy if you want to be in the south/Texas. UCLA or USC (whichever is cheaper) if you want to be in California. UCLA probably has the most national reach out of those 3 schools, though, but I don't know if that is a priority for you.
    Georgetown's employment numbers don't justify its huge price tag so I'd eliminate it, IMO.

    Emory was definitely yield protection. Once you get your LSAT above the 90th percentile as a black person, it’s extremely likely that you’ll get into at least a few T20s. They probably felt like if you were accepted that you wouldn’t attend and that you’d choose a higher ranked school.

  • @ep7042
    @ep7042 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I definitely know how you feel. I applied to all 26 schools in early November and some schools did not get back to me until early April. It was a very hard decision for me so I hope you can work out where you want to go soon.

    Just stumbled across your channel - I live in Colorado and toured CU. Such a great law school! Boulder is very cold, but Colorado winters are a lot different than east coast winters as the snow is usually gone the same day. Good luck on making your decision- studying for my LSAT now :) your videos have been super helpful!

    Congratulations on all of your acceptances!!!! I hope I’m in a similar situation in the near future. I know you’re not sweating this, but with everything you stated in your video, I’m surprised UF Law waitlisted you. I’m applying in this current cycle and they’re on the top of my list (only because they’re the number 1 school in FL). As a Floridian I can say many act like UF is an Ivy League school when they’re just #25. Yea #25 is still really good, but not as good as some of the schools you got accepted in. I’m proud of you! Keep doing great!

    • @LifewithLataysia

    In the video you mentioned God so I assume that you are a person of faith - as am I. I just wanted to know if you incorporated your faith in your personal statement or is that something that should generally be left out (especially for secular universities)?
