My sister said they tasted just like Mom's. That was the best compliment my sister has ever given me! But it was like my mom had finally released her recipe and I was able to take over for her and make them as good!☺️ I miss my mom so much and often think of her, especially if it's something she made a lot and it tastes like my mom's! I agree with u about the celery leaves..my mom always tried to find a stalk with lots of leaves and i do the same..and thank u for specifying about the ribs..I've heard alot of cooks say stalks..😘🙏❤
i always keep the celery leaves for my chicken soup, the smell is amazing. yes, there is a big difference in roasted chicken and fried or boiled for this recipe. i can pull off about 6cups of chicken so thats about 12 different meals for me, well worth the 8$ for the chicken.

My mother made the best chicken & dumplings in her old pressure cooker. Always light & fluffy, never doughy. I never did get the hang. I would watch her, then I would make them while she watched. She always said I was doing everything right but somehow they were never the same as hers. I may have to try this recipe, those dumplings looked very much like what I remember from my childhood.

Looks delicious! My grandmama had severe arthritis in her hands. My brother loved her chicken and dumplings. She would make a pot for his birthday. He suggested that she use canned biscuits for the dumplings. She did and he loved it. I know it doesn't taste the same but it always put a smile on both faces when he'd dig in and dare anybody to mess with Granny's doughbats! Thank you, Catherine, for the memories.
Never thought of adding carrots.I will though. I do use celery and onions.I took the meat of 2 large chicken breasts I boiled, froze the chicken and half the broth Used the other half of the broth for cornbread dressing for Thanksgiving and the other half I'm making chicken and dumplings this week .I had already added sauted celery and onioms to the broth when I made it.Just have to add salt,pepper and Better Than Bouillon roasted chicken broth 1 to 2 TBS.I add nothing else. I usually make my own dumplings, but occasionally buy Mary B open kettle frozen dumplings. They are already rolled out,cut and ready to go.They are good.Gonna try carrots this time. .Thanks Catherine

My mom's dumplings were solid and heavy. We use to call them sinkers, but they were delish! We loved the bite of them.
