@@WillyPhonken story starts with Dragon being defeated in China and monks locking magic dagger behind the door at the end of Great Wall. Lara follows the trail to Gianni Bartoli, a mafioso. Here in Italy, the bottom of this level there's a poster of some King Bartoli, apparently the mafia guy's father... Seems the guy was performing on stage as magician or something and his son got into a weird dragon obsessed death cult.
Got stuck on this level as there are lots of switches to pull and things to collect! Very confusing! Judging by the comments I’m glad I’m not the only one! Thanks for the walkthrough!
I am so glad I'm not the only who struggled with this level. I tried so hard not to look up a walkthrough but the very end stumped me bad so it's a relief to find out it's not just me 😅
Intresting that most comments are less than a year old. Many people going back to the classics at the moment. They had a special atmosphere about them.
I hate it that the camera doesn't show you what the levers do. I have poor short-term memory and looking for what changed in a level is nightmare for me.
Been replaying this for the first time in almost 20 years. Had to cheat a bit because I couldn't for the life of me to figure out how to do the glass floor puzzle at the start... and you just shot the window, hahah. I feel like such a low IQ ogre now 😂😂😂It looked like a metal bar not glass. I was trying all sorts of jump gymnastics to try and make her turn in the air and grab the ledge rather than fall into the glass... xD

@Wong all old-school games are made like this. For example modern racing games. They have helping arrows, arcade control, it's easing things to the maximum so most young kids can manage this. Personally I like the old games, they were more hard because had realistic control
@Wong I agree, i recently started playing the old school TR games and i noticed this one is more frustrating than the first one, which even if it had some BS moments it was mostly at the end (as it should be because at that point you already get used to it). Dont get me wrong, i love the challenge but TR1 felt more rewarding than levels like this in the second game.
You can actually get into the back room behind the curtain without going through the vent area etc by carefully jumping into that alcove near the stage I think from highest level floor. I don't know if you can use it as an actual shortcut to finish the level, didn't try it. Just funny that they didn't seal the balcony off properly so you couldn't abuse it as a potential shortcut.
That’s how I got across when I beat this level. I thought it was the intended path. Come to think of it, I don’t think I remember turning on the elevators, but I know I did go to the laundry room area with the vents.
Thank you for your comment. I just beat the level in the Remastered version the way you said and I can't be the only one. I didn't do all the vent area, didn't use the circuit board, didn't even find the key. Such a strange level.
@@MrBadActors it seems all Venice levels got shortcuts like that, I managed to forget where you need to go in the game but accidentally skip timer (and two grates) in Venice and avoid moving chandeliers in Bartoli's Hideout.
Exactly what i've done, and since I finsihed the level with the circuit board and the key in my inventory, i knew I didn't took the intended path. Now I understand what I missed
@Escape yeah man, thanks. I think I had hit that switch earlier on, so when I added the circuit board and flicked the switch, I pulled the background down instead of pulling it up..
@@RetroRic79 honestly I didn’t even realize the switch did that, I guess I just hit it and got lucky 😁 I’m playing through TR2 right now for my first time. Always played it when I was younger but never got past the 1st level 😁. Currently on level 7: 40 fathoms
@@RetroRic79 it takes me a while because I explore everything, and have a bad habit of doing the pull up handstand walkover every time I go up a ledge. It’s soo fun to do 🤭
Insane that I probably didn't struggle with this when I was a teenager. Now, at 42, it's kicking my ass. Can't get past the first part after you get the key! Wtf
I just played this level and managed to get to the exit without even using the elevator and finding the chip for the computer. I really felt like I did not do it the level wanted me to do it which is why I am here to check the right way. And yeah somehow I took a shortcut..
How did you open the door at the top of the ladder at 14:30? I dropped down into that area and when I reached the ladder that door at the top is closed. Am I just stuck now?
She will not stop dying everytime i jump into the roof at the very beginning! No matter what angle i jump from, she dies every time! This is very frustrating!
Had the same problem in a different level. Try to heal yourself up maximum before jumping. I jumped from the left side of the wood plank. Had a lil damage
Yeah. When I figured out you'd have to take your distance precisely to land, I did think it was unfair. Most people wouldn't even think that they can go by the fans and would try to look for another way. It's a bit not the game for the standard population.

I was lost & still am lost in this level.
The sideways jumps in the vents with the fans is just evil. I never would have figured that out.
A lot of things in this game are totally unfair. Like how enemies always have perfect aim at you even when you’re underwater!
It’s better to play a Modern Tomb Raider game, where everything is more simplified and easy to figure out.
That is difficulty level "1990s" :-)
This is precisely why I looked up this video. Could not remember, for the life of me.

Maybe it got like this after the main attraction died on a cruise ship and the mafia led by his son got obsessed over a Chinese legend.

Tomb raider remastered was released, like 2 months ago.
A bundle with 1, 2 and 3.
Slightly remastered, but true to its history.
For some reason 8yr old me was scared stiff of this level and the ones with yeti
It is very dark and foreboding, much in contrast to earlier levels.
19:37 - bruuuuh! 😑😑😑 (thank you!)
