My comment should be buried so deep no one would ever see it. I'm a Jersey guy and couldn't get into the city until 2 nights after 9/11 when train service restarted. I came to volunteer to cut up girders so the cranes could lift the pieces. Nothing heroic, just time consuming and boring. I remember George's walk. It was around the time I started having serious health problems. It was because of people like George I am still above ground. I rarely think of athletes as heroes, but George is one of my special heroes. And Shelli is correct when she says it is "not if but when" we get cancer. My diagnosis came 19 years and 10 months after 9/11. I'm watching all these videos because there is only 25 feet of tubing on my oxygen generator and I appreciate the stories.
So sorry for your health and I do hope you feel better.. while your actions may have felt small compared to some other individuals, know that it is still very much appreciated. Thank you for helping out. I sincerely wish you the best in your health.
@@LadyPercy.For some reason yours is the only comment I have received a notification on. Thank you for your kind thoughts. It would appear you are from across the pond where my ancestors came from via GB to SA then Canada. I have a very fond memory from that terrible week. Thursday I was getting some things together to take to the City. The TV was on and there was nothing but 9/11 coverage. The Queen (Classy Lady and Regent that she was) ordered our National Anthem played at the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. They replayed it on the channel I had on. That night on a break, I told some of the guys, but they didn't believe me. I found two videos of it on TH-cam so now I have proof. My only regret is that I didn't bring a chemical respirator with me. Not everyone gets to spend time with people who were the real deal heroes. I'm a lucky guy. Three years ago I took up a new occupation. I am a full time squirrel and chipmunk whisperer and have 6 new babies to enjoy. Thanks again for your comment.
@@LadyPercy.On 9/11 I was on the faculty of a university after 25 years in the trades. I was a volunteer for the 9/11 Tribute Museum for a number of years. We put up numerous videos. In one, I appear between two other people who have very interesting stories. Never Forgotten: Reflections From The 9/11 Community - A Virtual Roundtable - 9/11 @ 20 I am on it about 9 minutes in. I was a volunteer tour guide for them at the Memorial and the Museum. What an articulate gentleman! I love the NFL but wasn’t aware of Mr. Martin. He is a beautiful soul. I love his dream! The first responders deserve all the love and support we can provide. God bless you sir!
There are many like this in the US. As a matter of fact most people I know are like this and then some. Unfortunately the negative sells in media because it stands out. One menace taints the pool.
Candice, your country’s smut rags are causing a lot of problems. Too bad the Murdock Empire is alive and well! I hear many foreigners talk badly about us… until they actually meet us and are surprised to find out how genuine we are.
What a great hero you are Mr Martin for doing what you did and raising all that money for the first responders and anybody that was down at ground zero working to rescue anybody who might be alive, or to do the unfortunate work of recovery and to clear up all the debris. I really wish that I had been able to see you as you came through Arizona it would have been a great honor Sir. 💕🌹🙏

Thank you so very much Mr Martin from a health care worker for your contribution to our heroes of that day

What an incredible man. This is America 🇺🇸
What a fabulous story - and what a fabulous storyteller - and good man. ❤️
It's nice, as a British person, to hear about a positive side of the USA that is completely different to what is portrayed in the media.
