  • Since I have the collars and the information is readily available and accurate I might as well treat these cows to help them get in calf, so Briar and Zoe are coming to scan them and see what they can find

    i always enjoy watching the vets do their thing, there is always something new to learn from them.
    We start AI on the 27th, so still a couple weeks out, we haven't even fished calving yet, like 10 to go

    Spot on , your view on straws and those anoestrous cows. Id breed from them. Usually its hard calvings and uterine issues that holds them back.

    Hopefully the scans go well and the collars are working out fer you. Hey over 25k subscribers! Time to get a drone if you don't have one. It just really shows your farm in a new way.

    Hi Andrew thanks for the great informative video. Hopefully all this effort you are putting in pays off for you . On a side note how do the paddocks look that you direct drilled yourself look

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer
      @TheOnceADayFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      They didn’t work very well at all, not sure if it was the drill or the weather was to cold, but definitely didn’t turn out how I’d planned 😢

      @@TheOnceADayFarmer oh that's a shame to hear that it didn't work overly well for you. Maybe the drill planting it to deep for seed to sprout and grow 🤔

    Nice 1. U should get a good 6 week incalf rate now. I do the same every year but after the first 21 days of ai on who ever has still has wat ever colour tail paint i start wit on day 1 still on. Usually end up under 10% empty on tad milking.

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer
      @TheOnceADayFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s pretty good for TAD and seems like a good system 👍
      Numbers are looking good so far so fingers crossed

    hey i wonder how old is your oldest cow and do you keep that cow and breed from that cow

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer
      @TheOnceADayFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I have one that 11, and if she’s a good cow yes I’d breed from here, with the old ones it’s cool because you can also see how there daughters are milking too

  • @jackgray9809
    @jackgray9809 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    why don't you put a reel and pigtail fence up next to the hedge so the cows don't walk onto the race through the hedge?

    Ha Ha Although lived in Australia for 50 years still an All Black supporter. Unusual that top four ranked teams play each other in quarterfinals while the other two games are between lower ranked side. Oh well that’s the way the cookie crumbled I guessed. No sympathy for Australian Rugby as they would be in quarter finals if they had not sacked Dave Rennie

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer
      @TheOnceADayFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah I feel the same, they should’ve just left Rennie there till the World Cup 🤦‍♂️

    With the rugby i'm kinda glad Australia are going home because it means smaller countries are becoming more competitive (or maybe Australia really are rubbish). The days of Aust, NZ and SA being the only really competitive teams got kinda boring. France England Ireland Scotland Portugal Wales Argentina and of course the all blacks are all competitive. Good for rugby.

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer
      @TheOnceADayFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree mostly, but I think Aussie have just got worse, it’s really cool to see how well Fiji has done this time around 👍

    Statistically you'll have 8% of the ovsynch cows come in heat before the pg shot- generally it will be the day before of the day of the PG- always trips my breeders up, you have to watch them because it's a good feriltile heat
