Hey Danny, just found Icarus after the Steam free weekend and then found your channel. Great video for me as a fresh player really enjoyed listening and learning from your experience as a veteran player! Can’t wait to get stuck in! All the best
I like simple games, like warbrokers, partially because I play on an old office desktop and have no interest in buying a machine just for gaming. Good thing there are people like you - I never knew Icarus existed, and I get to enjoy this game without actually ever playing it. Thanks dude!
Watched all your Icarus content and now I’m going through for a second time! Thanks for all the great tips that will help me very soon when we add 2 more computers into the house and I make the husband and son play with me while incorporating your tips into what I teach them!
Wow, thank you for watching it all and for watching it again! The game has changed a lot since I started this series so it's glad to know it's still enjoyable.
I've played Icarus off and on since the beginning. Had a sever going for two years where I built a stone copy of a German castle. But watching you play this from the get go again helped me decide to delete my characters and start over. I am amazed at how good this game has become when you do that. I was too used to playing it as an "expert". This playthrough was a good wakeup call.
Killing creatures is the fastest way I level up. Yes the bandage trick works in a safer way, but getting the knife and bow are always my first crafting blueprints.
the way you allow us to be on that journey with you made me buy the game and all is dlc's - the story telling aspect and the soothing voice is like being taken in hand to follow along ... if YT ever failed you . iam sure audible will be waiting for you with open arms
Thank you! I have a new mic set up the newer parts so hopefully the narration gets clearer. Very happy to know new players are finding the game through the videos.
It's really fun to watch someone who has a decent idea of how to progress start a new playthrough. I'm really enjoying it. Everyone has their own things but I'll make one suggestion. One nice way to have all-weather early storage is the firepit. I takes 100 stone and 25 wood and has significantly more storage than the campfire. I use it, early game, as a place to store ore outside the caves so I don't have to fill up space in my base before I have the furnace. I use the stone I have to mine to break into the caves and place it right outside. Also helps me know I've visited that cave before. Just a thought. Keep it coming.👍
Thanks for the tip! I already recorded the second video where (spoilers) I got a SIMPL quest reward of a bunch of new storage, so I will be good for now haha. But great idea for when I drop into Prometheus.
Also don't forget small tip: the cheapest early storage that you can almost build anytime you have space problem and is not destroyed by the weather is the fire camp :). Just remember where you put them.
fastest way to level up is ABC -> Always Be Crafting :) even when you are hunting or farming you want to queue up as much of crafting items. I leveled up to level 30 ( tier 4 ) in 9.5 hours. I planted stuff in the ground and went hunting. I was trying to powerlevel tho, so if you want a more chill experience and then you can take it slow and unlock stuff as you go. Great content btw, subbed :)
Yep - also all that oxite, salt etc you ran past is all great exp. Salt is "light weight" comparably and stacks to 500 and right at the start while looking for "storage" you could have dumped a bunch of stuff in the pod since you were not going to ride it back any time soon. - all that stone & wood etc your mining are great materials for arrow spam crafting and something you can use up over a period of time.
Man, I was confused initially following your advice about the Beachead: Recon mission because I'm like "This guy is joking me, I gotta finish all these tasks?!" Nope. It's just like you said. Drop in, drop out. Thanks man!
Just discovered the game recently and stumbled across your channel! This video has been a huge help getting started and has made the game more enjoyable being that I have limited time for gaming after work! I get to watch/listen to your content while at work and put what I've learned from you into action when I get home! Am I detecting and old Ark player looking for the 'tek points'? lol. I loved that game for years so in some ways Icarus feels familiar, yet still very much it's own game! I love it so far!
That's great to hear! Thanks so much for watching, and glad to hear you're enjoying the game as well. And yes I did play a bit of ark before Icarus haha
I just finished this video and I hope that the next ones are the same (whole gameplay without editing). This is great! Perfect video to watch on second monitor while playing. Great work! Your window minimizing wasn't annoying for me, I imagine that for you it is way more annoying but I think that in the next episodes you probably already have this already figured it out
Thanks for the upload. I have had pretty good results with a triangle side-profile early base. Basically having the slanted roof extend to the floor. You still have the vertical walls, so you end up with an outer shell for the ground level. It means you just have the slanted upper roof and outer shell to repair.
I love this game, so excited for the series. The storage chest took damage because it was across from an open window. You have to put shutters on windows to prevent storm damage. It only seems to impact certain items, like bedrolls, crates, morters etc,
Been looking for a Icarus Hardcore one life series and found you Ive only seen episode one but in all the Icarus play through I rank you as number 1 keep up the awesome content
I learned by beating the game 100% blind doing maximum amount of hardcore missions on my first playthrough. Some missions are BRUTAL without guides or prior knowledge of whats going on lol. At this point I have nearly 950 hrs in game and have enjoyed open world but you just dont get that amazing feeling of unlocking and using new starter gear every time you land. I think that is a huge turn off for people when it comes to the game because they want to experience that kind of progression without having to rebuild their base every time and I definitely understand but I highly recommend anyone new to play the missions first before hopping into open world. All the missions seem extremely easy if you have no experience but you see how tedious and rough they get when you have to build that cabin on the hill. I think you have to hit tier 3 in tech just to complete it and it's in the first branch of missions. Even then once you complete a few missions and unlock a numch of tech with new gear going in building your base every time really isn't that bad. I personally don't enjoy open world content for this game but I will watch anyways lol
TH-cam recommended me your channel and I immediately subscribed. I thoroughly enjoyed your game play and was looking for such game play for a long time. I really appreciated the fact that you explained what you were doing and I have learned a lot from you. I also really, really appreciated that you do not swear as so many TH-camrs do, which is a real put off. Thank you for starting a new play from level 0 even though you are a veteran. I am learning a lot from you. Great video, great game play; great relaxing voice. I am looking forward to watching your series and to learn more. Thank you for uploading 😍
I'm a new player, and watching your vid makes me understand many parts of the game. Thanks. I can't believe that I've never heard of this game. If it wasn't for me browsing the Steam sale randomly, I wouldn't even see it. It won't even appear in my discovery list despite me playing lots of similar titles.
thanks for the series having just started playing this game I appreciate the tips as I watch u learned alot for sure subbed and will watch the rest of the series
It's so true, it's much more enjoyable to start again when you've already learned things the hard way.. I think of it like practicing for my next playthrough.
I learned so much from this (I re-started playing like 2 day ago, had never gotten that far). I did my first ever mission last night. I'm gonna jut eat up all thee videos.
Really enjoyed this episode, will try to see the rest. Just started hard with no gear myself, but buckled under and did some shopping at lvl 30. Very nice intro on HC mission exploit, amazed it's still working. Stuff you got are bare bones QoL stuff, so good call! Should mention turning off kill-cam, and I would keybind Loot All button, I use "V", try it...
Good tip jumping into the first mission to gain Ren. I would recommend the mxr knife as well as you can skin anything with it and it doesn't constantly keep breaking on you.
@@sylvandryad6207for some drops its like land and do a few parts of the mission. The mission where you get to learn icarus i think you can drop down and then go up.
You got a realy calm and nice voice, matching with the gameplay Fell asleep halfway through the episode, but rewatched the episode, after getting up Not something if done before I love survival base builder games myself as well, and i will definitivly get that one as well👍 Keep up the good work, and i'm looking forward to the next episodes👍🍀
I almost have 100hrs in and im loving this game and your series is exactly what I have been looking for. Also for why the chest was breaking im pretty sure its from your windows. You can put actual window pieces in and open them and that should fix the issue(I know the series is already done but for anyone watching it late like me). Another solution which is on that I prefer is using half hood sloped roofs with and overhand all the way around as the storm will only hit the roof then. Its like having an overhang make the storm not target anything else.
Personally, I really like all the raw, unedited footage. If you do the edited stuff, please release the unedited versions as well! Love your commentary. Very easy and nice to watch!! ❤
Did they debuff jerky? Early game the drying rack was always super useful because jerky - especially the soft meat jerky and prime jerky, or maybe it was prime jerky with cooked soft and cooked prime meat - had good buffs and it lasts forever without spoiling. That was always one of my early game foods. You just need baby deer or rabbits which are easy to get around water.
Oh man, between you and a buddy of mine talking about Icarus..I'm downloading it again. I might even purchase the latest DLCs that have happened since I stopped playing. I think I like the idea of starting the persistent map like you did here. I do enjoy this game so much.
I don't know why people keep assuming that "something isn't pleasing to watch because of the video length". If people are willing to binge tv shows and anime that are 23-55 minutes long, they can handle a TH-cam video that's equal length, or greater. I personally prefer non-edited videos as I want to be able to see the full experience. I find that, too often (all the time, at this point), people who edit their videos skip parts of the game and then don't even mention it but it may have been crucial for anyone who hasn't seen the game. Pravus, for example, has some pretty heavy handed editing where it's like "I should build some *jump cut* Let's go hunting *jump cut*". Like dude, I'm here to watch you play, not to watch the cliff notes version.
Agreed, you can always skip parts if you don't want to watch, but you can't pull the missed parts out of thin air. I enjoy the un-edited version also. Sometimes it even reminds me that some content creators will go into a "creative" mode so as not to do the grind.
Nice, I did a similar thing a while back (I don't stream) but it was no workshop gear, that was a lot tougher on me than I thought it would be but totally fun
to fix the window problem you got to setting and make it full screen not windowed lul also you made me so happy being on this playthrough with you aim subbing and buying this game!!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was actually really looking forward to playing this game, when I'd finished RDR2. Was gonna' buy it on Steam and then saw that it was 170Eur for the lot. So I moved on to the next one in my backlog.
The 170 pack includes a bunch of DLC you don't need, like the outposts which are like creative maps. The "Prospector Edition" is the base game plus the two map expansions
Looks like a great survival game! I really wonder why I've never seen or heard of it before. PS: The time you take in your intros is a testament to your confidence. And it looks to be working for ya. A good reminder for me to relax. Cause I'm like "I played this before, and... ("ok, viewers dont have patience for this") ...uh, let's just jump in!" 😬
Bone arrows are SO much more effective than stone arrows! At least until you can afford to make Flint arrows, but Bone are the way to go! Great playthrough though, brother!
This is just what I've been looking for! Played in early access but found it tideous to start over in every mission and have not played until recently when I realised Open World was available. You are doing a great job, I did not even notice problems with window frames. Keep up the good work, looking forward to watch the next one! 😁
my main complaint is shared with most others. I love the game, the idea and progression. But I hate that the world is basically earth with no O2. the alien world came with a price tag of additional $30. something that should have been implemented earlier in the game for free.
You sold me, too!!! I have been looking for a good building/survival game (one that does not involve the purges that I have come to hate) and see that this game is EXACTLY what I am looking for. Thanks a million...and I will be watching all the videos. (My wife says that in my retirement if I am not playing a game, I am watching someone else play a game. Now you are that guy!)
Me and my friend just bought the game today. Wish I would have watched this first lol. We’ve been playing for hours and are lvl 6. Playing open world and haven’t touched the missions.
Man your channel is very good, a lot to learn about this game. Can you help me understand what's the difference between missions, survival and outposts?
Thanks for checking the video out! Mission mode is a standalone mission, anything you craft on planet will be erased once you complete the mission. Workshop gear will stay with your character though. Survival/open world is a persistent map where nothing is ever erased, your base/items/etc stay on the map forever (you can't take them to other maps though). You can create a "mission board" and complete all of the missions available in mission mode in open world as well. Outpost is kind of like "creative mode" where there are no major threats like bears, ores re spawn after a set time etc. More of a relaxed mode on a very small map.
I personally use the axe over knive in fights. there is even a talent in the tools tree for it and than you outperform an unbuffed knive easily in durability and damage. Its less points than having to dump all the points into the knives tree. Oh and craft some bone arrows next time. that really matters in the damage. Stone arrows cant oneshot most of the animals, bone arrows do and it will be a while until longbow and iron arrows.
Thanks for the tip! I haven't really tried the axe in combat, I like the knife since its attack speed is so fast but I will test it. I'm super cheap with bones so I waited to upgrade until flint arrows in part three haha. Saving them all for epoxy
Nice vibe, thank you so much. I got the icarus itch but i am away from my gaming PC and your videos were spot on. I find it very interesting how you optimize your blueprints and talents. Why didn't you go for the hunting talent for animal bars? It seems way faster than the solo one.
Thank you! It's a very fun game, hopefully you get a chance to play again soon. The solo skill tree and normal skill tree have separate point pools, so I'm saving the main skill tree points since I can get the solo health bar one. I could use some respec points and grab the health bars sooner in the normal tree, but I'm just going to hold off. I end up getting the health bars in part four coming soon :)
Oh for the people who don’t their knife always breaking/taking a lot of wear later on, when cleaning up the bones, always use your pick axe, as it has so much more durability than equal tier knives. And personally I see any of the wood gathering only talents as a waste of a valuable talent point, you only get so many. And if you want to change it, eventually gotta buy respec points after you use the free ones giving. Just like the solo points I see the animal health bar as a waste of one that you can use for more damage or something else that’s useful. But ultimately, play how you want. I go damage/mining bonus then farming and health/stamina. As mining is far more valuable and important than getting wood
I see your point, I just absolutely hate having to pick up all the individual pieces of wood. I'm definitely planning on putting points into farming further down the line.
@@dannyrothko yeah, that’s fair, it can be annoying, I find it annoying at times, but it’s just wood. A basic and plentiful resource, shortly into the game, it’s a nuisance resource, at beast fuel. Lol. That’s how I view it. I really don’t gather much wood at all anymore, stocks more than anything and any wood I gather is turned into sticks on the electric bench, to then be turned into tree sap processor, for fuel or epoxy. Or organic crap for composite/carbon fiber, electronics production. So to me, it was and is a was of a valuable talent. I have wag tok many others I see as more valuable and can’t even invest in them as much as I want, so I forgoe them. As on normal difficulty, with all my food buffs and deadly 3 mod in my arrows and damage modifiers, I can and have done over 4k sneak, critical damage. Killing basically all but horses, polar bears, the big snow scorpions in one shot with my compound bow, and that’s with no character edits. Or mods all purely vanilla provided edits, granted I take nothing outside of some important ones related to those or general survival and mining in normal talents, or solo talents. I have at times one shotted a low level polar bear with a sneak headshot. But is rare, cause not many are low level. Anything below a polar bear, at most I need a sneak headshot, but most things, just a headshot, one shot kill with that set up.
😄 Well it is a level 0 character and no missions completed except the tutorial. I talk about my strategy in the beginning, basically I just farmed the tutorial mission for 50 ren a run and got some basic workshop gear.
I am thoroughly enjoying this playthrough. You have a calm speaking voice that is easy to listen to. Doesn't the campfire in a wooden structure risk catching it on fire?
Thanks so much! The campfire is safe on the floor as long as there's nothing too close next to it that can catch fire, including walls. Just keep it a little bit away and it should be fine.
Keep at it! The game gets much easier once you know what to look for. If you want to watch through my series I think it shows a good path for progression for a fresh player.
The "Prospector Edition" is about $70 when not on sale, that is the only DLC that really matters with the map expansions. The others are creative mode maps or cosmetic items.
I would definitely say give open world a try. You can do most of the missions from the mission mode inside Open World. In missions you drop in with nothing and when you leave, all of your bases/crafted items will disappear.
First time here and I absolutely love Icarus, It is a badass game. So you've got a new subscriber because I love watching those game from very very start to finish...... If there is a finish, right ? Take care, see ya soon. ~Jonny5🥁
Never even heard of this game before, but it looked like it was right up my alley so I went ahead and grabbed it. Was having a great time playing it right up until I settled on a location to start setting up a proper base. Then I discovered that structural integrity was a thing and it completely ruined the game for me. They need to stop including structural integrity in these games unless they can figure out how to implement it in a way that actually makes some kind of engineering sense and is remotely realistic.
Sorry to chuck a comment on an old video but by chance could you let me know your settings the next time you get on as I love the look of your game cheers.
Thank you for watching! I use standard overall high settings with simple light/building shadows off, terrain deformation/volumetric clouds off, skybox low, NVIDIA DLSS on performance, and NVIDIA reflect on+boost. 1080p resolution.
I just started a new character. A female one. She was playing hard mode. But I think they have made it more difficult since you did it. I accidently burned down my base. Then I started a new one. playing normal, and the same spot you are my deep ore is Iron!!!!
Ooh, nice! That sounds like fun. It is definitely a bit harder now, they added a lot of new systems like water filtration, crops getting damaged etc. IRON! At least it isn't something like Salt haha. I'm sure you'll find a good copper one
You mentioned the predators at 1 point. You could have picked up a few corpses and carried them. Drop them where you think would be a good spot and skin and take materials except the meat. Wait for predators in the area to come to you. - nvm. got to the point in the video where you mention possibly doing that.
Thanks for all the great tips and the adventure -- really enjoyed it. Your voice is a bit quiet so I would recommend normalizing the sound in your editing app and maybe investing in a better mic. Anyways, great stuff!
@@dannyrothko i'd noticed on the actual vid..this is really good 👍U made evrythin louder i noticed: maybe u can lower the ingame sound to hear your voice better? Sorry for my bad english 🤷♂️ 🙋♂️❤from Germany
G'day Danny your trick with the REN has been noticed by the icarus gods and that mission way isn't available any more you must meet objectives now haha you were very lucky to get that. Well done.
Hmm ok I will try that then. I had already done it but in normal, and I did complete it on hard also, so when I woke up (ahh I stayed up to late again hahs) I will give it a try. Thank
Hmm well bugger haha I tried to do the little trick again, but it still required objectives to be done, which isn't much, really. Also, on my one on hard mode, it only gives 38 ren... I think mine,s broke haha 😂
New here and I like it. Calm voice, nice way of explaining the game. The only thing i can think of is the cutting. Yes raw is nice but when you say il be back when this rock is gone I expekt the rock to be gone after a cut not to watch you hit away for a minute 😊😉. Anyways wish you the best many subs. Subbing!
Your voice volume a bit up please, and adding some plain background music from free spotify or something would be awsome as its quite silent. If you can play a bit with mic mixer to get mic tone bit better that would be great also ;) Supporting you ! Good content
you don't have to keep mashing your harvest button you can literally hover over the item you want to pick up and then hold the half is button down and it will collect everything you come across
Before to start playing on Open World i always see how many deep veins there are close to the area i wanna stay. If there are not i restart a New Open World till i have them. XD
The first episodes of this series are the standard game only, the "Olympus" map. The two main DLCs contain two different maps - Styx and Prometheus. The bulk of this series will take place on the DLC prometheus map. There are also some cosmetic DLCs, but the main ones are the two map expansions.
Can you combine the mission side with the open world? I like to have a purpose in survival games- aside from just surviving. A story line or quest line motivates me.
Almost all missions can be completed in Open World mode. You need to craft a "CONT4CT" device and you will be able to access the "operations" screen which lets you take on the missions from mission mode inside your open world.
@@craftavenuecreations4931 It definitely motivates you to build up a base and get better gear. In mission mode, you'll probably try to complete it as fast as possible since all your gear and your base gets erased when you end the mission. In open world, all your gear will stick with you no matter how many missions you complete, and you can design a nice base that won't disappear as well.
Regarding farming the REN, the first couple of runs netted 36 each trip, but then nothing. Not sure if they recently patched this method of farming. Am I doing something wrong?
I'm not sure, it still seems to be working for me (just tested it). If you want the full 50 you need to hit the "hardcore" check box in addition to hard mode.
just started watching, so far so good :) only thing I did, watched "episode" 2 before 1 ahahah maybe add a number in the thumbnail pictures ? maybe like in the top right corner? ( maybe that is just me but I like seeing the sequences and numbers, easier to track and watch ) great playthrough !
That way I can save my talent points for the main skill tree and spec into a few more things there. It only takes 1 extra solo point vs 3 or so in the main tree.
As a new player, I would probably say Olympus. It's very straightforward as far as mission progression goes, beautiful, overall a great start. Styx is similar to Olympus, but you need to complete certain missions in order to unlock the tunnels into different biomes & overall more dangerous. Prometheus is the hardest start by far, different resources only spawn in specific biomes which makes going to very dangerous areas a necessity to progress.
How do you bring these new items into an existing open world? And can I just quit to desktop from an open world and have these new items stay permanently on me?
You need to create an "Orbital Exchange Interface" which is a tier 2 item. From there you can go into the workshop and request equipment to be delivered down.
After I bought the game and tried again and again over 10 hours, also died over 6354 times (lol) I wanted to quit but fortunately I have found your video and I'll try again. Thank you, great explanations, it will be useful if also you could mention some keyboard shortcuts you have used but, it's very good even like this. A big LIKE !
How did you start over completely? I uninstalled using Revo Installer, deleting ALL my files related to the game. When I reinstalled, everything was back.
Glad you figured a way out! I also wanted to keep my old progress, so what I did is create a 2nd steam account and did "family game sharing" to that account.
Yes you can, but only in the space station. So if you are dropping into a new map you can do it before dropping. If you want to use a new suit on the same open world, you need to go into your pod and back up to the station and equip the suit when you drop back down. Be careful though, any items/equipment you crafted on planet in your inventory will be destroyed when you go into the pod, so be sure to place everything in a storage box first and go back up with nothing equipped (other than workshop gear).
This early on in the playthrough I didn't chop them just because it takes so many hits, and you get an chunk of bonus XP for felling the initial tree so I focused on doing that.

I love this game, so excited for the series. The storage chest took damage because it was across from an open window. You have to put shutters on windows to prevent storm damage. It only seems to impact certain items, like bedrolls, crates, morters etc,
Yeah add the basic Windows curtains and your stuff indoors is safe from storm dmg as long as walls etc holds togheter.
Been looking for a Icarus Hardcore one life series and found you
Ive only seen episode one but in all the Icarus play through I rank you as number 1
keep up the awesome content
Thank you for watching and for the kind words! Hope you enjoy the series.
Oh man that sounds like a rough journey haha. I like the mission mode as well, but I love having a static base to come home to in open world.
Turn your volume up mate
Thanks for watching! The volume issues get resolved in a couple episodes, I was having issues balancing the mic early on.
I took a year off from this game and it’s changed so much I’ve got to learn to play it again 🤣
They're still doing weekly updates! It's constantly changing, such a good game.
Finally someone to watch that plays icarus...thank you
Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoy the series.
Thank you for subscribing and for the kind words! Glad you are here. There are a lot of episodes and more on the way! I hope you enjoy.
It's an amazing game! A lot has changed since I first started this series, but I hope you find it helpful as you set out on your journey.
"I'll be back with you guys as soon as this rock is destroyed" and continues to hit the rock till the end 🤣🤣
🤣 The actual edits start in the next episode!
thanks for the series having just started playing this game I appreciate the tips as I watch u learned alot for sure subbed and will watch the rest of the series
Glad to hear it is helping! I hope you enjoy the game
Just stumbled upon your videos. Thanks for efforts and appreciate your time. Keep it up.
Thank you so much for watching! There's a ton of videos in the series so far and more to come.
I didn't enjoy Icarus when I tried it, but loved this video. Hope it keeps going.
Thank you for watching! There's a full series if you want to check it out.
It's so true, it's much more enjoyable to start again when you've already learned things the hard way.. I think of it like practicing for my next playthrough.
Yes! It's like a whole new experience starting over.
I learned so much from this (I re-started playing like 2 day ago, had never gotten that far). I did my first ever mission last night. I'm gonna jut eat up all thee videos.
Awesome to hear that! Hope you enjoy the game & the series
@@dannyrothko i will and i do. just found bees for the first time woot wooh
Thanks for watching the whole series so far! I'm glad you found the channel, hope you are looking forward to more!
Started waching you, love the long vids! AND NO EDIT!!!Nice!
Thank you for watching! I do start doing some edits in the later parts but I hope you enjoy those too.
Good tip jumping into the first mission to gain Ren. I would recommend the mxr knife as well as you can skin anything with it and it doesn't constantly keep breaking on you.
Yes that's a good tip, maybe I should have done a few more drops
How long are you there before you can be sure to get the ren?
@@dannyrothko
@@sylvandryad6207for some drops its like land and do a few parts of the mission. The mission where you get to learn icarus i think you can drop down and then go up.
You got a realy calm and nice voice, matching with the gameplay
Fell asleep halfway through the episode, but rewatched the episode, after getting up
Not something if done before
I love survival base builder games myself as well, and i will definitivly get that one as well👍
Keep up the good work, and i'm looking forward to the next episodes👍🍀
I agree with the pleasant voice, but the clapping is terrible...
Ahh that is a good tip, I'll definitely make sure to use that if I do windows on future starter bases.
Personally, I really like all the raw, unedited footage. If you do the edited stuff, please release the unedited versions as well! Love your commentary. Very easy and nice to watch!! ❤
The later episodes do use some edits, but mainly I'm just cutting out repetitive things like mining ores etc.
@@dannyrothko Yeah! I noticed that and I thought that was well done and added some energy to the scenes.
Great series and amazing info. deserves so many more subs
Much appreciated!
Jerky is still good, the spoil time on it is still very long and its best feature for sure.
The campfire inside the cabin is hilarious.
😆
Oh man, between you and a buddy of mine talking about Icarus..I'm downloading it again. I might even purchase the latest DLCs that have happened since I stopped playing. I think I like the idea of starting the persistent map like you did here. I do enjoy this game so much.
Glad to hear it! The latest DLC map is awesome, definitely worth trying in my opinion. I end up moving there once I hit level 20.
@@dannyrothko I just started my game dude. It's your fault and thank you! >
Damn dude, you rly play the way I play. Nice! Keep going up!
That's great to hear! Hope you enjoy the series.
Love this series, please keep it going!
Thank you! Part 15 just came out today, and more to come!
For 2 hour video I watch 2x speed 😂😂 normal 10min 1.5x 😅 I guess I'm impatient
Same here I like to watch while I play to get hints or help
Nice, I did a similar thing a while back (I don't stream) but it was no workshop gear, that was a lot tougher on me than I thought it would be but totally fun
Nice! Starting from scratch is definitely a lot of fun.
to fix the window problem you got to setting and make it full screen not windowed lul also you made me so happy being on this playthrough with you aim subbing and buying this game!!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for subscribing! I hope you enjoy the series.
("ok, viewers dont have patience for this") ...uh, let's just jump in!" 😬
It really is a great game, highly recommended. Thanks for the compliment!
Bone arrows are SO much more effective than stone arrows! At least until you can afford to make Flint arrows, but Bone are the way to go! Great playthrough though, brother!
Thank you! I love the flint arrows, and I decided to skip the bone ones early on to save up all my bones for epoxy.
This is just what I've been looking for! Played in early access but found it tideous to start over in every mission and have not played until recently when I realised Open World was available. You are doing a great job, I did not even notice problems with window frames. Keep up the good work, looking forward to watch the next one! 😁
The game has come a long way! Weekly updates really keep things interesting, and the open world mode is awesome.
my main complaint is shared with most others. I love the game, the idea and progression. But I hate that the world is basically earth with no O2. the alien world came with a price tag of additional $30. something that should have been implemented earlier in the game for free.
Why do you need oxygen anyway? None of the animals or plants do.
They explain it’s because of toxic impurities in the air that the animals have adapted too
I'm watching this for the 2nd time.....I like the raw footage...I'm currently Downloading Icarus.
Glad to hear you got the game! And thank you for watching it again.
Just saw your video thanks for exposing me to the game just purchased on steam!
Awesome! It's such a great game, I hope you enjoy it!
That's great to hear, glad you are giving Icarus a shot! And thanks so much for watching all the videos
Me and my friend just bought the game today. Wish I would have watched this first lol. We’ve been playing for hours and are lvl 6. Playing open world and haven’t touched the missions.
Glad you're giving it a shot! It's such a great game. Keep at it!
Good gameplay, very good pointers. Thanks
Thanks so much for watching!
Love the video would love to see more! :)
Thank you! I have a full series on the channel if you want to check it out
Nice vibe, thank you so much.
Lol, says he starts fresh then pulls workshop equipment from the drop ship. I agree, this is a fun game. Super grindy, but a fun game!
😄 Well it is a level 0 character and no missions completed except the tutorial. I talk about my strategy in the beginning, basically I just farmed the tutorial mission for 50 ren a run and got some basic workshop gear.
Well he did write veteran starter in the title 😀
It’s quite fresh Indeed. A lvl zero with some basic workshop items
I know this vid is a month old, I just started playing, may 4th 2024, and man this game punishes me so hard. I suck at it lol.
Keep at it! The game gets much easier once you know what to look for. If you want to watch through my series I think it shows a good path for progression for a fresh player.

Just found you and instantly subbed! Your gameplay is just great and I really like your voice! Way to less subscribers imo. Keep it up :)
Thank you so much for subscribing!
$170+ with all the DLCs? Absolutely not. Hitting up my pirate spots.
The "Prospector Edition" is about $70 when not on sale, that is the only DLC that really matters with the map expansions. The others are creative mode maps or cosmetic items.
What do you think I should do. Missions or an open world?
I would definitely say give open world a try. You can do most of the missions from the mission mode inside Open World. In missions you drop in with nothing and when you leave, all of your bases/crafted items will disappear.
U do ah good jobb for your first time.
Thank you! I do have experience playing the game so it isn't technically my first time.
In 30 minutes this man has gotten as far as I have in 8 hours.

cool playthough n chill personer
Thank you!
@@dannyrothko Cheers for the reply mate continue with the great vids.
feels like I'm in for a journey here XD
There is quite the journey ahead! I hope you check out the series
Yes that can be useful for sure trying to draw out predators
Thanks for all the great tips and the adventure -- really enjoyed it. Your voice is a bit quiet so I would recommend normalizing the sound in your editing app and maybe investing in a better mic. Anyways, great stuff!

G'day Danny your trick with the REN has been noticed by the icarus gods and that mission way isn't available any more you must meet objectives now haha you were very lucky to get that. Well done.
Hm, I just tested it and it still works for me. Maybe you have to complete it regularly at least once before you can spam it?
Hmm ok I will try that then. I had already done it but in normal, and I did complete it on hard also, so when I woke up (ahh I stayed up to late again hahs) I will give it a try. Thank
Hmm well bugger haha I tried to do the little trick again, but it still required objectives to be done, which isn't much, really. Also, on my one on hard mode, it only gives 38 ren... I think mine,s broke haha 😂

Before to start playing on Open World i always see how many deep veins there are close to the area i wanna stay. If there are not i restart a New Open World till i have them. XD
That's probably a good idea! You could get totally screwed with bad deep vein spawns
Was game play with any of the dlc’s or just the standard game?
I’m thinking of getting this game
The first episodes of this series are the standard game only, the "Olympus" map. The two main DLCs contain two different maps - Styx and Prometheus. The bulk of this series will take place on the DLC prometheus map.
There are also some cosmetic DLCs, but the main ones are the two map expansions.
@@dannyrothkothank you
I hope this game comes out on PS5.. I’m in need of a new crafting/survival game. Or buy a pc but it will be expensive to run this game.
That would be cool if it came out on console!
@@dannyrothko thank you!! Do you think this motivates you do build up your base and survival skills or are they pretty separate things?
@@craftavenuecreations4931 It definitely motivates you to build up a base and get better gear. In mission mode, you'll probably try to complete it as fast as possible since all your gear and your base gets erased when you end the mission. In open world, all your gear will stick with you no matter how many missions you complete, and you can design a nice base that won't disappear as well.
Regarding farming the REN, the first couple of runs netted 36 each trip, but then nothing. Not sure if they recently patched this method of farming. Am I doing something wrong?
I'm not sure, it still seems to be working for me (just tested it). If you want the full 50 you need to hit the "hardcore" check box in addition to hard mode.
just started watching, so far so good :)
only thing I did, watched "episode" 2 before 1 ahahah
maybe add a number in the thumbnail pictures ? maybe like in the top right corner?
( maybe that is just me but I like seeing the sequences and numbers, easier to track and watch )
great playthrough !
Thank you! I might just have to do that for the episodes
Why did you go for "See animals health bar" from solo talent tree and not from normal talents?
That way I can save my talent points for the main skill tree and spec into a few more things there. It only takes 1 extra solo point vs 3 or so in the main tree.
Out of the three maps what do you all think is the best map. Looking to start fresh as well. Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching and for the like! I hope the series can help with your playthrough!
How did you start over completely? I uninstalled using Revo Installer, deleting ALL my files related to the game. When I reinstalled, everything was back.
Got it! Had to uncheck steam cloud saves, delete it all, start game, close game, recheck steam cloud saves, choose local. Play!
Glad you figured a way out! I also wanted to keep my old progress, so what I did is create a 2nd steam account and did "family game sharing" to that account.
Pickaxe is best for harvesting bones.
One thing can you equip a new suit on a existing caracter? or i need to do a new one to get all the stuff i get?
Yes you can, but only in the space station. So if you are dropping into a new map you can do it before dropping. If you want to use a new suit on the same open world, you need to go into your pod and back up to the station and equip the suit when you drop back down.
Be careful though, any items/equipment you crafted on planet in your inventory will be destroyed when you go into the pod, so be sure to place everything in a storage box first and go back up with nothing equipped (other than workshop gear).
@@dannyrothko do my base will be destroyed? IF I GO UP ?
@@Babulash If you are in open world, the base will remain in the prospect. You'll just need to load back into the same prospect when you go back down
Some reason you don't chop the tree stumps?
Also, items inside will sometimes take damage if you don't have actual windows in your windows, and sometimes if they aren't closed.
This early on in the playthrough I didn't chop them just because it takes so many hits, and you get an chunk of bonus XP for felling the initial tree so I focused on doing that.
