    Hey, Andy. I still haven't started anything. I don't know if I'll grow this year. I really should decide soon... I just don't want any extra work around the house. Feeling so burnt out lately.
    I hope you have an amazing grow season and are able to harvest lots of beautiful treasures. You sure have a knack for growing peppers.

      Thanks Steve.🤘💙🤘
      I wish I could grow more plants, but my heart isn't in it and I become overwhelmed with processing all my treasure. I guess it's an OCD thing; I have to do everything a certain way and slice open every single pepper that I don't sell or give away, and that's most of them. Whether dehydrating and turning into powder or saving pods in the freezer- everything gets sliced open and inspected beforehand. I vacuum seal those pods for the freezer already inspected so that when I use them, I don't have to worry about anything funky. Last season I turned almost everything into powder. I have more than enough powder and frozen pods to skip this season and next if I wanted to at the pace that I produce sauce & tincture.
      It's not as fun as it was a few years ago.
      I hope you grow at least one plant. It may brighten your spirits. I understand how much work you put into it. You had a nice season last year, but the work is very time consuming. Consider growing just a couple. You never know how you may feel come summertime.

    Do you need a grow light or will a Southern facing window work? FTG

    • @gootjuicehotsauce
      @gootjuicehotsauce  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      I use grow lights, but I think you can do it without if you get good sun. Once these get bigger and I transplant them into 1 pint contains or Solo cups, I give them 16-18 hours of light everyday. I've used the same two lights since I started. One is a $40 florescent grow light from Home Depot, the other one is an LED light from Amazon, also about $40.
      That does the trick til things move outdoors in May. 🤘🌶️🌱💡🌞

    That is awesome Andy. Is it better to start the plants that wait or just wait til spring and start them in small pots?

    • @gootjuicehotsauce
      @gootjuicehotsauce  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@OcculiMortis I start seeds in January so the plants are ready to go into 3 or 5 gallon containers in May outdoors. You can definitely start seeds outdoors in the spring, but I haven't done it. I think it depends on what growing zone you live in. I've also bought small seedlings in 1 pint cups in April or May, and transplanted them right into buckets with great results. Starting from seed in mid-January gives me a 3+ month head start. I leave them under grow lights for at least 15 or 16 hours a day, up to 18 hours a day everyday til I move them outdoors. Sometimes some of them have small pods on them before I move them outside.
      I don't pinch off early flowers or pods, and I don't "top" or prune the plants at all.

      @@gootjuicehotsauce I looked into growing pepper plants after I left this comment and the last frost for my city zone is April 25 on average. Pepper geek and chilichump are the two channels I was looking at and one of them said to start the plants 6 weeks before your zones last frost. And I got some pointers about making them germinate and soils and vermiculite and a heat pad and a light with the range of light needed for them after the germinate. It’s flipping crazy the work put into hot pepper to get them to grow. I’m going to attempt to grow the seeds that Uncle Reemus sent me and some that I took from the box of pods I got from Hellgarden. Should be fun for my first time.
