Steve Miller is a genius with that guitar. He may not have the speed of a Stevie Ray or Van Halen, but his creativity is unmatched. I saw him live and couldn't believe the things he was doing to the must have been at least 10 or 12 different guitars he played. So many sounds that I had thought were synthesizers were just him on a guitar.

Great choice, just for general knowledge, his guitar teacher was the one and only Les Paul. You can not ask for a better mentor.

I remember the first time I heard this song. I was in the driver's Ed car in the back lot behind the Baseball field at my Highschool. It was myself and 3 other students in a Ford Maverick. We turned up the AM radio as loud as it would go and got yelled at by the instructor. We didn't care, that was our new favorite song.

YOU kill me absolutely ,JAMEL!! YOU are hilarious, in the way you can make a comment about a particular line, WITHOUT speaking, but only a gesture or facial expression! THEN we find out in the end that you indeed do KNOW it! I dont play digital games, no time for it, so I only know the song from knowing it! LOVED it for 20 years now! GREAT reaction!

Yes, a "midnight toker" is a person who smokes weed at night. Steve Miller is from my hometown area of southeastern Wisconsin. "The Joker" was his first major hit. He had been around for a few years before hitting gold in 1974. He released 2 excellent albums, 'Fly Like an Eagle' (1976) & then 'Book of Dreams' (1977). Both albums are worthy of playing in their entirety!!
