Caution: The Bad one piece stainless valves were Renegade brand from Star Performance in Lenexa,Ks. *** I will never use the Renegade brand again and Highly suggest everyone avoid them!
@snooketcher That's what I did. Not why they were so stuck. I feel like if I used enough force to twist the bit when tightening it would have just ripped the threads out. I used an inch lb torque wrench this time, and different bolt with 12pt head. Hopefully that's better.
Wow, he's still alive! How much spring are you running on those valves? Not that I think that was the root cause, the cause was high combustion temperatures. Lesson learned though, cheap-er valves on a boosted motor is not a great idea. It's actually good you dropped a cylinder and started looking for a problem, that was going to end badly.
How fast/what RPM do those turbos build boost on the street with your setup? I have the journal bearing 67/62’s 1.01 AR housing, hoping a smaller cam gets me better transient boost response
You did NOT do a valve job, you lapped the valves! You can't just lap new valves into your seat and call it good!lol Best case scenario you'll have a one angle valve job. You do realize that a valve job entails cutting the valve too right? Take the heads back off and do it right. Take them to a machine shop!
Not everyone has the time or money to drop on a full on rework of the heads. Lapped valves seal and while it might not be up to the standards of nascar or nhra, "It'll be Fine". I'll predict it'll post some more single digit time slips while driving to and from the track. Some of us just want it to run and drive and take it out to have FUN.
I was thinking same thing... ur revious turn was probably compensation for the hurt parts. Glad u got it working Ryan
Looking forward to seeing the Volvo come along. I have a soft spot for station wagons
Damn! Good work man.
My wife wants a gardening channel
So the tuliped valves…. Too much heat for those valves? Good thing you caught it before they broke off

Use bits that are s-2 tool steel. They don’t twist. Just don’t use em on an impact cause they will explode
22lb-ft on those rockers broski!

@justinp2993 Just the BTR
.660 dual springs. But yes, definitely glad it went the way it did. Could have been much worse.
Put the heat gun to the studs and bolts!!!

@b00sted_SS It's positive pressure usually by 2700-2800, ice seen it make 10psi by half throttle. It's pretty quick.
what AC bracket is that?
He’s got a video on it. It was like a make your own Holley mid mount.
Correct, holley mid mount kit. Everything esentially.gets bolted to water pump.
