The centerboard on this boat was missing little rubber bumpers that stop it from going under….that’s tough. For the main sheet, remember to feed one hand to another so as to avoid letting go of the tiller. The reason why your cockpit was full of water is this boat is missing the autobailer at the back of the cockpit. The people who lent you this boat gave you a rough first try at laser sailing, it’s super fun once you get good at it tho
I believe it was not the water in the cockpit giving you fits, but water in the hull. Old boat, leaky, these "friendly" yachties didn't do you any favors! But you made it through in fine form. Next time you take out a laser, make sure it's a good one, and you'll be amazed at how fun they are.
Man, thanks, this video has been so fun to watch (in a respectful way, of course), everyone who has some experience on a Laser had all of the "problems" you had, so is very relatable. Laser is an incredible dinghy, sometimes it's like riding a horse without a saddle. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I made a rookie mistake by leaving the bung out. To my mind it made the laser impossible to sail. (I thought it was me) To complete two races with the boat in that condition is a remarkable achievement! It almost put me off sailing my boat for good. (At least a week anyway)

Ahhhh, so maybe I got set up. Still lots of fun. Thank you for the info!

Thanks for that. If the opportunity comes up I will give it another crack!

🍺 cheers and thanks for commenting. Havent had another chance to play with one since. Fun but challenging little race boat!
Thanks mate. Thought it was just me out there screwing up last in lasers. 😂. Great fun though
Good on ya for keeping at it man. I’ve had a boat flood in me and it’s extremely hard to sail.
Thanks for that. Yeah it was a challenge!
if you pass the main sheet to your other hand you won’t have to let go of your tiller and can keep control of the main sheet whilst pulling it in
there should be a drainage plug inside the cockpit where you can drain the water out.
Thanks Jack, didn't know that. Haven't had a chance to sail one since Lake Bonney.
Keep practicing. Never give up.
Havent had access to one for a while. My club nearly got one but needs way too much work.
Here goes alot of my memories in the water whit a laser😂😅 incradebly fast but unstable.
@ois-jy9kl yeah super quick and super tippy
It looks like you had good hydratation that day 😂
🤣😂

Yeah nearly put me off too. Well done on completing the races. How many times did ya go over?
