I’ve got a 2TR-FE in mine with rear drive, which has better longevity. Since it’s one of three vehicles I own it will probably last forever. I won’t drive it in salt.
I have the 2.7L in my 2023 SR. It’s a 4x4 and I use it in the winter though. I take it to Krown to have the underside treated every year. I hope to keep this truck for at least 20 years. It’s wonderful.
Thanks dude. Good work. I appreciated your 300K update. Now you’re at 400K. Thanks for keeping us updated on the life and work of this 3rd gen Tacoma. Look forward to 500K!
Unbelieveable!!!!!!!!! I'm glad you're still giving us updates and the Tacoma is still running strong! I commented on one of your first videos, but I have the same model, year, trim, and even color! I'm only at 75k miles, but I'm looking forward to keeping my truck forever after seeing your progress with the Tacoma.
2:50 Thats funny to know about the fan clutch. Work at a shop and someone brought in a 2018 with about 400k and the fan clutch was also locked up at the same miles. Looks like they are good to 400k exactly lol
same here. '07 tacoma at 180k, my work truck and '22 tacoma off-road my home truck at 12k miles. Keeping them until I pass. will even replace the engine in the '07 if it comes to it. Zero rust on the frame luckily.
I'm your biggest fan. I'm at 180 and i just realized i've been slacking on the trans oil changes because my dealership misled me on lifetime. Makes me so mad but hopefully I last as long as yours
I got 451k on a 06, 4.0 trd off road and still an everyday driver with the original water pump, starter, alternator, fuel pump, spark plugs. The only fluid that has Ben changed is the motor oil. The only code it’s ever thrown was the 0420 and it’s Ben doing that for 100k. It doesn’t seem to affect the drive ability though
Barely broken in! That is awesome man. I’m losing sleep over this cylinder 2 misfire. Keep us posted with any findings on that. Fix that misfire and send this unit to 1,000,000!
@@endurocox5467 I hear ya. Wasn’t sure if it was possibly something simple like a bad injector/coilpack. Or I’ve heard a few people have the ACIS Intake flap break off and it can bounce around the intake manifold and block an intake runner causing a cylinder misfire. But with that many miles a burnt up/worn valve makes more since. You’ve got a good plan send her till she blows and swap in a junkyard motor and keep clocking those miles!🤙🏻
Cylinder in balance code usually is a bad valve seat which requires the engine to be torn down. Big job. I’d say plan to get top end work done in near future
Just bought a 2017 sr5 with 96k on it and my third day of owning it I got a check engine light come up 😂. Popped the hood after plugging it in and there was a loose clamp on the intake causing a leak. Hoping to have no more issues, wish me luck!
oh man thats awesome, my 21 auto lasted 15k miles lol had a lemon and toyota was a nightmare to deal with. I knew i should have gotten the manual :( so awesome to see yours is doing so well
WOW.. JUST THE ALTERNATOR.. EVEN THE WATER PUMP IS ORIGINAL.. THANKS! I HAVE 21 TACO O/R 4X4 MANUAL JUST LIKE YOURS AND AT 7K MILES STILL. THE TRUCK WILL OUTLIVE ME!
Wow, that is impressive. I got a 91 22re Pick up with 160,000 miles that I'm still trying to wear out along with my 3rd gen Tacoma and your way beyond in mileage. I didn't believe these 3rd Gens had it in them.
I also have a 93 22RE with 307k miles on it. They are very useful!! Mine is low to the ground so loading heavy things in the back is super easy compared to my 3rd gen.
Absolutely love following this truck. I have a 2023 Tacoma OR but unfortunately it doesn’t get used like it should. Sits in the garage while I drive my beater around.
I wonder if cleaning the fuel system or using some seafoam-type product would help your intermittent misfire. It could just be the cylinder 2 injectors getting gunked up a little bit. Would love to see you take this thing as far as it goes!
Love your Tacoma vids! couple quick questions, are those Toyota Pro wheels or are they an aftermarket company? Also do you run stock tire size 265/70r16? Thanks, another great video!!!
Dude this is awesome! I'm looking at a 2003 with 278k tomorrow. I think if the frames not Swiss cheese I'm g9nna buy it. You think a 03 will last over 400k?
Prolly won't see this comment but Toyota recommendeds replacing all oxygen sensors at 100k that's probably why your having intermittent misfire and a/f being off. I'd check live data o2 sensors and see if they're dropping out under load. . Keep trucking
What are you running in the rear suspension to tow that trailer? I have a cap on the back that makes it squat some, and towing a trailer makes it worse. Looking to upgrade.
400 in 6 yrs is insane.
~182 miles a day. He’s driving for hours a day.
I bet his butt hates him.
Yeah to say how insane... I'm 6 years 120k lol and I avg 1500 a month. With two 6k trips a year.
I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma Sport and I have 82 K miles on it.
I have 2017 Toyota Tacoma 75000 I have a slow leak in my steering rack
This dude must be the hardest working man alive. The Tacoma is taking good care of him.
3rd gen Tacoma is living up to the Toyota reliability for sure.

2022 Manual Tacoma
Keep the reviews coming.
This makes me happy to see. Just shy of 250k on my 18 tacoma. A good bit of that has been pretty hard miles. Truck has been really solid!
How many issues you had?
Got a 2019 trd sport manual trans. I just clocked 99k and am glad to hear the clutches are pretty stout thanks for the update
Wow. That’s amazing! Congratulations!
I really like the tan with the front bumper and the all terrains. Suits the trucks.
That quicksand is TOUGH!!!!
Stopped making that color in 2020.
Looks like just regular maintenance. Damn, still going strong! Let it make another 400K!
Short and to the point video. Thank you and God Bless you, you hardworking man.
Lets go half million miles!!!!
I can’t wait to eventually see the 4th gen’s worked hard like this reach those kinds of high miles. They certainly will!
congrats on 400k!
3rd gen the best Tacoma ever made.
Awesome video brother! GREAT job!!! Been waiting for this one! 2017 Tacoma, manual, and only at 90k. She will be my last vehicle!
Just bought a 2023 TRDoffroad,great truck!

This eases my mind with buying a CPO 2020 with 66k miles on it. Id love to see a continuation of your truck and your time with her.
Baby miles. Why u Worrying about? Its a TOYOTA
@@fib4923 Just looking to get as good a deal possible. Which I think I did. I love it.
Wow good job of maintaining your taco bro I’m impressed…I own 2022 trd or and I’m inspired to ur story to maintain my taco ❤

Why still original spark plugs and fluids?
I have an 05 Taco v6 4x4 with 97k might be time to upgrade to one of these, glad to see them go this long
Keep the 4.0 it has more torque and is generally a better engine
@@tambosnipes1652 Should I get a $29,000 2nd gen 2015 tacoma base, or a $35,000 2018 3rd gen tacoma trd pro? both around 70k miles.
cylinder #2 misfire could be a ignition coil. swap it with another cylinder and see if the code travels.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing, I hope mine make it that long
Thanks for doing these. My 18 has ~68,000 and I plan on keeping it till I die
Barely broken in! That is awesome man. I’m losing sleep over this cylinder 2 misfire. Keep us posted with any findings on that. Fix that misfire and send this unit to 1,000,000!
It’s not worth fixing the head. Just gonna run it until it drops a valve or something & get a junkyard engine.

3rd gens for the win!

Letssss goooo brotherrrr
My throw out bearing went out at 40K. Bad luck I guess.
Congratulations on the milestone.
Field test to the point review so I grasp the essentials without getting lost in lengthy ramblings.✅

Bullet Proof 🏁
hell yeah just saw another third gen at like 420k or something from a friend in PA
proof?
have the same truck glad to see high mileage
Not many trucks on the market these days that will do what these Tacomas can do and last
Absolutely AMAZING!
Nice man. Hoping to be in the same boat as you, it's just gonna take a LOT longer to get there lol.
Lets goo 500k!😄
I wonder if the automatic transmission will hold up that well?
Badass! 2018 Trd/Offroad here in San Diego 🤘
can you give more updates?

It's got valve issues on cylinder 1/2. It runs best under load, idle is definitely rough compared to my 22.
@@endurocox5467 carbon build up on valves. Walnut blast. Or try Seafoam

have you done any frame reinforcement? or is the frame all stock?
Its got firestone ride rite air bags. Installed at 1000 miles. That's it.

Spark plugs every 200k miles!? 🤯

Wild. Roughly speaking, how much of your driving is highway versus city traffic?
Probably 60-70% highway. A lot of idling though. I estimate engine has approximately 16,000 hours on it.
What happen with the slight misfire
Still occuring.
I forgot to ask , have you had any problem with the infamous leaking timing cover ?
No

Firestone air bags. Been on since 1000 miles. Trouble free
Are you still running the original clutch? I hope to keep my truck running as well as yours!
Original clutch.
Are u on the OG clutch as well ?
yea he said hes on og clutch. insane
