I’m a Trek fan through and through. I have Madone 9.9, Domane 5.7 and SLR 6 and Fuel EX 7 MTB. Bought a Marin Headlands gravel bike 2 years ago as the Trek offering back then was behind the times. It’s great to see that Trek are now finally world class with their gravel bikes. This 2022 Checkpoint looks awesome - might buy one when I move the Marin on. Shame they didn’t put the Nomade into production 😉Great review, thanks.
This is a great review of the Checkpoint SLR7. Two weeks ago, I bought a 2022 CheckPoint SL 6 eTap for $4129 with Rival AXS Groupset. My 2022 Checkpoint SL6 eTAP complements my 2021 Specialized Tarmac SL7 well. I am continuing to work on my N+1. lol
The rear hub has 108 points of engagement btw, and the wheels have no rider weight limit rating. They are amazing wheels. Not sure what he would "upgrade" on them? They are amazing wheels. Also, you forgot to mention it has a T47 BB as well. Trek is rolling it out across the board for 2022. Imagine buying a Gravel bike, or any bike, in 2022 with a PF BB lmao
so trek makes a one peice bar and stem with bigger spacers to hide those cables and feed them flush into the bike, just talk with your local dealer and then can work something out for you
What's with the splotchy paint on the front fork? Maybe it's an artifact of the matte paint picking up staining from oils, etc., but it looks terrible. I've got an SL5 coming in next week in red, which is a glossy paint, so hopefully won't be a similar issue with that.
i have checkpoint SLR and i am changing out with Crux S-works...i could not find the right feeling with the checkpoint, i will see if crux will be better
Thats some big money right there. Did you end up liking the Crux better? I'm trying to decide between the Crux, Checkpoint, and Diverge. Something good for long gravel grinder races that is fast yet comfy.
@@GCPerformance18 that would be great. I am currently thinking about getting the Diverge. But the Checkpoint is on my short list. I am in the $4k ish price point. And thanks for the great content!
This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
god this bike last month and pretty happy about it. rear isospeed pretty much useless to be fair especially you comaring with diverage str or any dropper post with travel. also that gr1 tyres been using on all checkpoint line, from cheapest alr to slr. guess thats the only tyre bontrager made, i swapped it soonly i get the bike.
18.3 lbs by the way!!!
Super light! Have you rode this at all? Was wondering your thoughts on the rear cog gear spacing? Thanks for the vid, interesting build.
It’s not a typical GC performance video without the shaky weigh in. 😂
@@mikehudson8 Dangling these SUPER expensive bikes in midair ... I would be too! Shaking like a pekinese dog in a snow storm! LOL :) 🤣
@@larrymcgoldrick3471 lol
It’s good to see that Trek is getting away from their crappy press fit bottom! Nice bike!
Bought a 2022 Domane SL5, same paint job. Works well as Gravel with 38mm tires plus is a decent road backup
yea they classify there domane as a gravel bike too, they got nice tire clearance in there

Yup, it’s an amazing bike. I upgraded my fleet to 2022 Checkpoint SL7 eTap and a 2022 Emonda SL6 eTap. Trek is absolutely killing it these days.
That 2033 is the new new 🌟
wow!!! you got some nice bikes right now and some hard to find ones
Yeah killing your bank account 😂😂
Have this exact bike! ...And, I LOVE it!!!🚴♀️ Also thank you for video. Have watched a couple of times and picked up something new each time.😊👌
awesome!!! it is a very nice bike indeed
I have mine equipped with a Campagnolo Ekar groupset and Campagnolo Levante wheels. Its a beauty now.

damn sounds like the never ending quest for the endgame
Thanks, the seat post looks better than in my Domane. I had crap clear coat which failed after tightening the seat post. Awesome bike :-)
Is Trek going to come out with a model that has a higher stack height and a slacker HTA. I love the fact that they updated the BB to T47!
I do not think so right now, I think there main focus is the madone right now

108 on those points of engagement.
@@jdickens111 Thanks, edited.
Gc is always pullin’ through!
thanks!!! I am trying
Looks Very good wow
1 of the bikes u just know will be a good ride just from looking at it
What’s the hidden spacer thing you mentioned in the beginning to make it a cleaner look? I have an SL 6 so curious about that.
so trek makes a one peice bar and stem with bigger spacers to hide those cables and feed them flush into the bike, just talk with your local dealer and then can work something out for you
The chain stopper is an awesome little addition to the Trek road range. Little details huh?
Love that bike, thanks for sharing!

Have you heard anything about the 2022 Scott Addict Gravels? Such a nice bike but barely seen one, seems like they're impossible to get
I am suppose ot have some show up to my store in april, I hope I see them soon
Love the bike 😍
looks very clean for a gravel bike I will say so
No love for the cannondale top stone?
I dont know to many cannondale dealers around me I have to venture further out and grow some relationships with them, hopefully soon on the channel
GC, can you do a review of the Checkpoint SL7 eTap 2022?
if I can get my hand on it I for sure will
if I took a spin on it , I'll want one.
oh yea
GC dude, doesn't checkpoint, ride more like diverge? More upright,.... ?
no that woudl be there more domane, the checkpoint would be more race gravel
@@GCPerformance18 thank you.
State has a rival axs xplr bike for 2k right now that I want to buy as a beater for bikepacking
Are gravel bikes essential old school XC (steep head angle) bikes with drop bars and rigid forks?
@whatsapp➕➊➐⓪➏➏➒➏➎➎➑➒ Who is this jerk trying to impersonate GC Performance?
I have no idea I havebanned os many accoutns on from him and he keeps making more
they are pretty much glorified road bikes from the company with just added tire clearance and a little more slack
Definitely Hot, very nice bike, it would be nice to have a head to head if possible with this one, crux’s and diverge…I think Trek would win,,,,lol
yea I am going to do a video between the two to show off what u get for price points

Looks nice, but I put order for wilier gravel frameset already.
really??? to be honest not a big fan of willier, but that is my preference, there road bikes look nice but idk on there gravel
Am I the only one that noticed the screw on the ground under the crank?

Time to drop specialized retailer and go for trek.

To be fair, for a gravel set up IMO shimano with its hyperglide would be a better set up, and hence better “value for money”
they have a shimano optiong with grx di2 for the same price, but it is the 11 speed wired grx

Left scale at home eh? It's okay. Many men suffer from weak scale holding arm syndrome. Nothing to be ashamed of.
hahahhahaha, im dead!!! surprised how many comments I got mentioning they missed my weak arm lol
This is road bike just have wider wheels bigger tyres that it .....
yea seems like every company has one of these "gravel bikes"
Best Gravel Bike for me is my Monster Gravel Bike btw thats a superb gravel bike 💯🚲✅😎

I have to check i tout
The main reason is I can't afford that 2022 TREK w/c is my dream bike 😬✌️ Electronic shifting is 🤩♥️
Beautiful but very expensive.
Miss your weak arm
hahahha fuck off, it should be back this week
8,700.00 for this bike plus tax.
I thought 2500.00 was a lot for a bicycle.
$8.35K???
