- This was my 10th King of the Air and I can't believe where this event has taken me and the sport of kiteboarding. And this one was quite a rollercoaster for me. Trying to keep up with some of the riders half of my age is something that is motivating for me and also makes me proud to see they are taking the sport to the next level!

Who can look back at such an epic career, you've been a role model for me and many of the new generation riders that were watching your massive jumps. Be proud of what you achieved. It was an honor riding with the legend.

As a 53 year old kiter. I always get inspiration from you and will continue to... You inspire the young and old with your infectious smile and excitement for the sport! Kiting is not the same because you are a part of it.
Never forget Kevin was responsible for a paradigm shift in big air kiting and paved the way for the insane stuff that these kids are doing now. Legend!

Still remember feeling really unmotivated after a bad first kite session on my board and wanted to head back to bodydragging to improve my kite control, felt like stopping, I saw you in the parking lot across from kfc packing gear up and you had a full conversation with me, I went straight home for another session after that feeling on top of the world having met you! and never looked back Kev! Wow Kevin. Powerful little video you made here. I grew my kiting career watching you progress, win, and make amazing movies. It’s so hard as we get older to deal with the loss of that fearlessness, it’s just the mental scars of being injured so often. You have correctly moved on with your own brand, a family, and evolving into a new career. Thank you for making this sport the way it is today and congrats at the same time

You not only won everything but you inspired all those kids that are now winning like you used to, and you are still inspiring so much random kitesurfers all around the world. I can't imagine how hard it must be to let it go and accept that you are no more at the top after a career like yours... But few athletes can say that they had such an influence with such longevity in their sport like you did and like you're still doing. They just can be reckless because they just don’t have anything to think about. Familiar message. Where I kite, I can definitely see a difference of risk with kiters in their late teens and kiters middle aged with families to support and businesses to upkeep.

As a kiteboarder for 20+yrs and now 48yrs old, I have been watching the young crew take over my home spot past few years. But my 6&8m Supermodel V1's give me the edge in the craziest winter storms when they all run scared off the water. Love your riding and Reedin kites, when I can afford to fill my quiver I will be getting more. Appreciate all you have done and continue to do for this amazing sport!!!

Kevin i think its the right decision to say that was it for Kota. You’ve set the bar high for many years and done a lot for the sport.
Learning new things and taking risks especially is always easier when you are young, which will make it hard for you to compete and a competitor you are.
