Just found you and are so glad. You and Fiona are wonderful and so funny. Stay safe and glad you know what you are doing out there. Enjoying watching your videos, thank you.
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel! We’re so glad to have you here! I’m glad you enjoyed the adventure. Thank you again for reaching out and watching!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I’m not even going to try and hide how much this comment made my day! Zero guilt, buddy! Just proves you’re doing it right!!!! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out!
Wow! We enjoy winter camping! Never camped in these temps! With the right gear, I would do it. I can do cold better than mosquitoes and humid conditions! Great video!
This was definitely a test for me! Since leaving Georgia, I’ve camped in some pretty serious cold but this was the coldest I’ve ever camped in. You’re right, with the right gear, it wasn’t bad at all, just not much sleep feeding that fire every hour. Thank you so much for going back and watching some of my previous videos! It really means so much to me and it’s always great hearing from you!
4:34 it was super cold in Michigan after working inside the refrigerator all week I couldn’t bring myself to camp outside Monday we had ice inside my work it hit-9 with wind chills of -30 just haven’t felt up to it so am glad we get to watch you try it
This is a great video! I really enjoyed watching it from the comfort of my home. I think you did a particularly good job of filming the details of what you were doing... especially under these conditions. Great job! Also, I expect Fiona would rather be camping, even in the cold, than to be left behind. Thanks for making and sharing this video!
Thank you so much, sir!!! That really means a lot to me! Yes sir, that little girl never seems to run out of desire for adventure! Thank you again for watching, the support and reaching out! I hope you’re healing up alright from surgery!!! Praying for a quick recovery.
I applaud you for sticking thru to the end with this video. I would’ve looked like a popsicle. 🥶 The 20’s have me wanting to crawl back into the cab of my truck. The negatives, I’d be #Nope. Keeping Fiona warm was important, as well as yourself. Might have to give a hot tent a try. As always, #ThanksForSharing and taking us along for the adventure. #HappyCamping ⛺️
Thank you so much! I always appreciate your kind comments and support! It was definitely a challenge but we had fun doing it! I highly recommend hot tent camping. It’s such a great way to camp and there’s something about having a wood stove in the tent with you that really adds a new level of comfort and enjoyment. Thank you again for watching, reaching out and for always being so kind!
Awesome video brother! 👊🏻You are definitely right when it comes to temps that cold. Severe temps are no joke! Awesome to see the two of you tough it out and make a great video! I love the simplicity of that tent! Looks very light weight and easy to set up. I would love to get something similar as well. I want one I can pop a wood stove in for some warm tent camping!🔥 I also need to invest in one of those mini portable air pumps! Yours seems to work very slick! Great video as always! Can’t wait for the next trip!🤟🏻🏕️
Thank you so much, brother!!! That tent and the stove pack down to nothing. Super easy for pack in hunting camps. Thanks for the support, brother! ❤️🫵🏻
First of all i want to say thank- you and fiona for braving such extreme cold conditions so we can have such good content ftom ya'll. I know it was very brutal out there. Me beinf from the south i do not like the cold. It doesnt get that cold down south. Im sure know that too! So thank- you very much for doing what you do!❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️ Hi Miss Margie!!! Thank you so much for watching! It always makes my day hearing from you! I’m so glad you liked the video!!! Y’all are getting some pretty bad cold back down y’all’s way too this year! I read your comment to lovely bride and Fiona! Lovely bride wanted me to tell “Miss Margie HELLO!!!” And Fiona wagged her tail a lot!
It was definitely a true test for sure! I’m about 99% sure that what Lacey was doing was way more hardcore than my little camping trip! lol thanks so much for watching, it means a lot! Tell everyone hello and that we love them!
When I left the Marines in December 2000 I was able to “procure” a brand new mummy bag! Bugger is rated for -20F and I’ve been it in the elements at -18F and felt warm and toasty!! I also “procured” two brand new MC4 ram-air parachutes but we won’t tell anyone about those!!
First off, I want to thank you for your service!!! Second, that’s awesome! Third, literally just busted up laughing at the “we won’t tell anyone about those!” lol your secret is safe with me! 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
Hi Mr Broderick! This made my day, sir! Really the only unpleasant part was having to get up so frequently to stoke the fire…I happen to like my sleep! lol. Even that was type 2 fun though! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out! Genuinely love hearing from you, my friend!
I always have a closed cell foam pad with a reflective layer under my insulated sleeping pad, with a wool blanket on top of those. Not sure if you’ve tried that, but it does help in extreme cold here in Canada. I also have a fleece bag liner and an extra wool blanket to pull over my sleeping bag if necessary. When it’s going to be killer cold, I use two down bags layered.
@@oldsouthernpine always happy to help! I’ve been winter camping for a few years now and I sleep cold, so I’ve got my system dialled in now. Some people also put a Nalgene bottle filled with very hot water in the bottom of their bag just before bedtime. Works well, but I’m too chicken to try it…my luck it would leak 😂
It’s very much appreciated! Haha I’ve been wrestling with the idea of the hot water bottle as well but haven’t brought myself to do it for the same reason! Seriously, thanks again!
You’re braver than me brother!! 🥶 that’s too cold!! I’m getting my hot tent setup ready to do a few hot tent videos in the near future but luckily it never gets that cold here 😂 Great video, I really enjoyed it!
Thanks brother, I appreciate that! It was definitely a challenge! Hey it’s all relative 30° in Arizona is the same as -30° in Minnesota 🤣. Can’t wait to see your hot tent videos! Thanks for the support!
Just subscribed! From western Pa. You seem like a great dude. Love your little pup. Montreal steak spice...My man. 👍 That's the best. I'll camp and hang out anytime. Me and my friends do some sketchy stuff like this sometimes. Lol.
Exceptional video my man Good to know that Fiona is your top priority always a good man. I ran into the same problem when I was camping the Keweenaw Peninsula here in the U.P and you're GDang right, if you dont know what you're doing/Gear then DONOT attempt. Even with -35° bag I couldn't risk my pups life either, she can only fend so much herself. Glad you both are safe and warmed up now 💪🏼. Keep 'em coming Brother love the content.
Thank you so much, brother! That really means a lot to me! Absolutely, nothing on these trips matters more to me than that little pup’s safety! Again, thanks so much for watching!!!
You popped up on my suggested videos, and boy, I'm so glad. The temperature is relatable to what we just went through on the Canadian Prairies. -51C windchill was reported for a couple of nights during the PV. I was chilled throughout your whole video. Kudos to you for sticking it out all night and for the great care you take of Fiona. Question: Would it have been better if you positioned your bed so you could just reach to stoke the fire rather than having to get up each time? Great respect. Subbed.
That's pretty cold for someone who don't know the ins & outs. But I know u love Fiona and have her beast intrest at heart. Ne er did winter camping. Your both brave.
Trust me, it was pretty rough for this Georgia boy. Even knowing what to do and having good gear, it was a challenge. I’m definitely glad to have done it though. And I kept a tight watch of Fiona. The second i realized that fire was out and felt her shiver…shows over. She went into the truck with the heater on high while I tore down. If we get another polar vortex, we will be back out doing it again! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out! I sure appreciate you going back and watching some of my older videos!!! ❤️
I have a question why don't you clean the snow out before you pitch your tent, I am from Australia we don't get that cold ❤ you are a very brave man and your little girl 😊
Hi Miss Donna, that’s a very good question! Typically, if the snow was deep, I would either shovel it out or pack it down before pitching. The snow we have isn’t deep and after a few swipes with my foot to try and clear it out, it wasn’t doing much so I went ahead and pitched directly on what little was there. What was under the insulated and inflatable mattress would give me just a little more insulation from the ground and what was open and around the stove would melt off throughout the night. Thank you so much for watching and reaching out! I always enjoy hearing from you!
That steak looks pretty good I was wondering what kind of cut is that a New York strip steak or maybe like a beef chuck whatever it was it looked allllllllllllllllllll right 👍 thanks for the video
What kind of dog is she? She's so cute. Great video. I've always wanted to try hot tent camping, but I don't really have anywhere to go where I live. I would have to stealth camp and that's not always feasible in the winter.
Thank you! She’s half west highland terrier and half bichon frise. I really appreciate that and am glad you liked it! Hot tent camping is a lot of fun for sure, if you ever get to try it I highly recommend it. Just make sure you have the right gear and are safe, it can get dangerous real quick! Thanks again for watching and reaching out! Your comment made my day!
Hi Mr Phillips, that’s a great question! I know a lot of folks are big on ground sheets and I use them all the time in boggy conditions. When it’s this cold and the humidity this low, a ground sheet doesn’t do much, in my opinion. The snow under the mattress stays frozen and adds a little extra insulation from the frozen ground and the snow around the stove either turns to ice or burns off just leaving the frozen ground behind it. Dogs are the best! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out, my friend!
I have to admit that I’m glad I don’t have to camp every weekend in those temps but I’m definitely glad I got the chance to do it…and I’m glad it’s over lol!

Welcome to the channel! I’m so glad to have you here! Thank you so much that really means a lot to me. I know the video angle didn’t really show it well but the bed was situated so all I had to do was roll over and I could easily grab wood and feed the fire without exposing anything other than my arm. Thank you again for watching and reaching out!!!
Absolutely nothing but respect! To camp in that weather is one thing, to put in the effort to film it too 👏
Thanks brother! I know you know all too well the extra work that goes into trying to keep your camera gear working in those temps is a job on its own!
