I so enjoyed watching your process, hearing your thoughts, and seeing your beautiful painting come to life! Trying to expand your art style takes a lot of experimenting ... not really the same as doing an art piece for a competition when one wants the final piece to be really good. We learn so much just seeing other artist's work. We start to recognize the qualities in style and color and technique that appeals to others. It was so lovely seeing Isaac with you in this. He is learning so much in this process of watching the judge's reactions to the winning artists! Well done for sharing your talent, and keep learning and growing as an artist. We love your work.
So happy you enjoyed the video Nadene ❤ I learnt a lot through this challenge and feel I will be a lot better prepared next year if there is a repeat of this contest. I definitely think I love experimenting so much in my art that it comes at a detriment to honing in on one consistent style, which takes a longer period of commitment without being distracted 😂 Such a privilege doing these sorts of projects with my children and letting them experience the learning curve with me! Sending loves!
Hiya! Nice work on your pic, especially as a self-portrait! I think it turned out great. Maybe with a little more light and shadow play it might have placed better with Alpay Efe judging. I think his "Alice in Wonderland" might have made a good guide for how he likes light and shadow, but you're right - it's about your own journey and where you are, not about someone else's style preferences.
@@DQ_ArtGroupie wow yes you’re right - his Alice in Wonderland would have made a perfect study for my piece! I honestly wish I’d been more particular in how I crafted this to please the judges more. But at least I’ve learnt something for next time round! Really appreciate your insightful and kind comments
