    Your videos are really good - short and no fluff, just solid info. Thanks for making these, I'm learning a ton!

    NOTE: when you press the brake lever to pressurize the system before cracking open the bold be aware that aggressive pressing on the lever might cause brake fluid to splash out of the open brake fluid reservoir!

    also most radial mounted mc have bleeder valves up at the lever, bleed that last

    thank you Ari for the video ....
    and guys with c abs systems for example cbr 250r abs
    start from the
    middle break blead bolt on the front break caliper and the reservoir tank for it is the rear . so start bleeding the front middle bolt on the front caliper cause the c abs system is only active using the rear break and front middle piston gets pumped so pump the rear break to bleed the c abs system while the calipers are on the discs . fill the rear reservoir and right after that bleed the rear breaks .
    note in c abs cbr 250r rear caliper and front middle piston on front caliper are linked with rear break leaver and share the same reservoir tank. So start from that or else you will have spongy break leaver feel
    finally bleed the front break .... this is a little complex but once you do it , your bike breaks will feel so good also always clean caliper piston with mild soap and water . And remove ,clean and grease leavers.
    so hope i helped you guys

    what about cleaning the brake pistons? that is important too

      +Miika Venäläinen yes soap and water and a tooth brush , clean all the dust and crap out ... and he never covered cleaning the slide pins of all the rust and crud lock them in a drill and spin it with fine 400 paper , or any brake lube on them pins .. cleaning every year even with out new pads is a must ..and he did not cover if the fluid is ok to pump up the brakes to move the pads out on to the rotors ... very poor video

      +Roy Rodriguez This is intended as a quick how-to for routine maintenance by DIY-inclinded riders. Not a full-on course to make you a certified tech. If the guy watching this video has no clue at all about those things, he's better to go to a proper mechanic for maintenance in the first place.

    • @katana258
      @katana258 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Solid_Koolaid... he does say ''OVERHAUL '' and really do you need a tec to use a tooth brush and soapy water , he does replace the pads so, since the caliper is out in your hand and the pads out and before you return the pistons inside , one would want to clean all the road crap off ...OK[ i know water is short in calif and he might get arrested , but maybe inside no water police would see him ] , would you not clean it , and since the pins are out clean the pins and lube them , he says change the fluid ok great but your not up to a tooth brush and cleaning .. ??? or some steel wool on the pins .. but it is calif ..

    •  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Roy Rodriguez You're right! The more brake pistons you have the more important it is to keep them cleaned to obtain good and even braking pressure. For this BMW with only one rotor and 2 pistons it's not as important as for sportbikes witn 2 rotors and 4 pistons. Having friction differences between pistons significantly decreases brake feel and intial bite.

    they way I bleed my brakes or change the fluid is by making sure the bleed tube is submerged in brake fluid in a small Gatorade bottle, then I open the bleeder screw and just keep pumping the brake. once there is no more air and dirty fluid coming out I close the bleeder. is that a good way to do it too???

    • @jth_1016

      Try spraying some brake cleaning fluid on the rotors (not callipers). That usually makes most of brake related noises disappear

      how to remove air bubbles in the abs pump then? it doesnt require bleeding process?

    • @TheFridge
      @TheFridge 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get air in the ABS pump, then you will need to pressure bleed it, or trip the pump to get the air out.
      In some cars you can flick the ignition on with your foot on the brake to do this - check your workshop manual, they may have an easy way.

    Don't use a vernier unless stepped, all you would be doing is measuring the outside of the disk that has no wear...
    Cheap tool for bleeding brakes, clear piece of pipe like in vid.. bolt stuck in the end to seal it.. slice a 10-15mm about 1/2 in cut with razor blade.. then the pipe should squirt fluid out and reseal when pressure has dropped... MUCH CHEAPER..

      +lmfreitasplay You need to bleed the air out of the system. If your bike doesn´t have ABS you can see my video that teaches how to do it. It´s in portuguese :) A chance to learn two things :) (including a new language). Just kidding, the images are self explanatory and I´ll be glad to give you some hints.
