@@christopherbingham5092 if that were true why not mention it in an episode or have a send off? Either lazy writing or the actress was fired unexpectadly.
Me too, Stephanie and Leonard were still happily dating after her third episode, yet afterwards, she's never seen or mentioned again. They could have simply mentioned in passing that they'd broken up, she had so much potential as a character.
What made me curious is what happened to Leslie after all the seasons. We see her as a background character a few times after she broke up with Howard. Leslie appeared in Sheldon's birthday and disappears again.
@@christopherbingham5092 they used gilda as kind of a mold to shape Amy’s character, if you watch the og pilot you see a lot of similarities, but they changed her up a bit to fit the new version of the show, also kudos for coming back after to years to respond lmfao 😂
They could have later re-booted it without the one-day rush option, which was the only reason the original version failed. There was also the one where Penny came up with a more useful and practical app idea than the one the guys came up with.
What about when Howard meet’s Elon musk, and the two of them were going to stay in touch via email? I would have loved to see Howard go on to work for the SpaceX founder.
Wasn't Elon Musk in young Sheldon. Sheldon gives NASA information but they couldn't use it and at the end of the episode years later a rocket lands & Elon Musk has the information.
Many sitcoms do this frequently - a storyline is abandoned without a conclusion & never mentioned again as though it never happened. Characters are introduced without being mentioned beforehand, quickly become important to at least one major character, then disappear without explanation, never to be seen or mentioned again.
I must admit I prefer those dropped storylines around guest actors over the character assassinations that sitcoms regularly do to write out those characters. Like Paget Brewster's Kathy on Friends. The story about her and Chandler was so cute and then they just make her cheat on him after all that build up? Huge disappointment!
Fun fact, the two girls who answered the door for Howard and Raj when they went to the Top Model House, are former contestants Analeigh Tipton and Samantha Potter.

@@aHumanBeing97 No, it's well before - s7 e18, The Mommy Observation. She's a religious prude for many years, then has a fling, a conversation about it with Sheldon, but that's very quickly forgotten & she continues her religious beliefs.
There weren't 6 different versions of the letter from Howard's dad. Every version (other than the Goonies stuff said by Sheldon) is all part of one letter. Each character took turns speaking aloud the contents of the letter sentence by sentence. If you listen to them one after the other they form a cohesion narrative. Separately they're too small to be a whole letter, but together they make perfect sense. They told Howard the whole letter.
They're very different to each other. They're each a summary of a possible letter. Sheldon & Leonard say that only one of them is true & no-one contradicts that.

I thought she was given to Sheldon for a specific project and she was only a 1 month temp. Once Leonard turned her down, she had 0 interest in the other two, Sheldon only saw her as office equipment so we had no need to see her.
I was hoping Alex and Leonard would hook up because Penny could be mean to Leonard sometimes...of course I’d want Penny and Leonard together at the end, but it would have been fun.
I actually would have loved to see Howard's half brother, Josh made more cameos in the future but at least we know that Howard still has family somewhere.
The thing that upset me the most is when Leonard confronted Kurt about the money he owed Penny who found herself struggling to pay her bills. Kurt refused to give Leonard the money but used the situation to his advantage by approaching Penny directly and repaid her. Penny never know it was Leonard who help her in obtaining her money back. The writers missed a romance scene!!
Yes, I've commented elsewhere that when Penny told Leonard that Kurt had repaid the money, he should have taken off that hat/cap so she could see the IOU that Kurt had written on Leonard's forehead. But Leonard might have figured that would just show her how weak he is physically.
@@Jamessmith-xk3fh yeah because I don't think they had the son yet. They could have had a throwaway where Howard said "I just spoke with Josh, he's excited about being an uncle again."

I would have liked the girl upstairs to stay a bit longer. Would be a nice look into the route Penny could have went down if she didn't become part of the group, and she could a served as a sort of antagonist almost.
But they got some very good one that they threw out the window. You have to say the quality of the series started out strong but keep going down. If they kept some of those instead of throwing it out, the show will work better. I would love the idea of Leonard ended up with Raj's sister or Sheldon's assistant or Lesslie Winkle. I also like the idea of Raj ended up with that hot girl she made out with or Emily, they didn't follow through with those story line. I always think it be funny if Penny ended up with Sheldon
@@peteryang8991 You can never know how the show turned out differently, definitely not if it would have become better. I liked Raj's sister but Stephanie just didn't completely fit in in my opinion and Leslie was not a very likable character, she started stuff with Leonard AND Howard, she just barely had a real place in the show and existed mostly to purely annoy Sheldon (which is fun for a few episodes but it does get boring after a while). Another issue is probably that if you have too many main characters, the screen time they actually get is quite reduced, especially with side characters getting some spotlight too. So for example, we might have seen Penny or someone else leave or become a lot less relevant because of Leslie for example. Or maybe some actors don't wanna stay that long because of other projects? Or the negotiations failed.... There's so much that can go wrong. I could be wrong but I don't think all of these were mistakes or unintentional.
@@blueangel4ever370 [Another issue is probably that if you have too many main characters, the screen time they actually get is quite reduced] I agree, they keep wasting money with more main characters. To be honestly for example, Bernadotte can be a recurring character. This also allow further plotline such as marital problem maybe even a divorce. I never really like the Sheldon and Amy combo. Just because 2 people got a lot in common, doesn't mean they are right for each other. There are plenty of incompatible people happily married for 30 or 40 years and plenty of compatible people get divorce. Love and compatibility are 2 very different things. Otherwise, we all be gay. (because we got more in common with people of the same gender) It be more fun if Amy stay as recurring, maybe she ended up with Stewart or Zack. That be fun to watch. Sheldon and Amy work better as a boy/girl bromance. Penny and Sheldon will make a very fun couple to watch. I would love to see how that turns out. Leonard and Penny...in real life that is middle age divorce waiting to happen. Leonard tries to make his feeling to Penny to be more then what it is. But in reality, what he feels is nothing different from Howard. At least Howard is honest about it. Leonard keep trying to make it out to be more then what it is. The only reason Penny find Howard creepy is similar to if a gay guy come onto us, we will find it gross also. If today Howard is a big muscling guy and act that way, Penny be giggling like a little school girl, instead of finding it creepy. The actress that played Emily actually didn't have another project she rather take and was very excited to get the role on Big Bang, but they eventually wrote her charater off anyway. I know the actress play Bernedatte was one step away from living in her car when she got the job. So, it might got something to do with why she got wrote in as a main character, if the writers like her enough.
More than a lot of sitcoms, BBT seemed to rely on leaving things unsolved or dropping key plots. I think the intention was to emphasize character development over having conclusive answers to everything, but it does make for some frustrating plot holes.
I believe they made a voice message for sheldon using the voice of the actress that plays meemaw in young sheldon but never added it. I can be wrong thought
@Christopher Bingham you would still expect her to show up given sheldon’s her “moonpie” if you have seen young sheldon, you know how close they are. And given the fact that in the end she gave her approval for sheldon and smy’s marriage, it doesn’t make sense to not bring her for sheldon’s wedding
A few of these I think were kind of given an idea of the ending.Penny blossoms, she wouldn't make anywhere near enough and so gave up knowing it wouldn't lead anywhere, especially without the guys helping her. Sheldon did the math and children in sweatshops were making more than her. Howard's father, this makes sense. Not everyone knows what happened to a parent that abandoned them.
But Howard feels there's a gap in his life because of his father leaving & is still upset & resentful because of it. You think he'd want to know what happened to him.
He's a NASA employee ever since season 1 when he worked on his space toilet, so I think he was making good money, but compared to Bernadette pharmaceutical money he could very much be making "peanut". I think that's what they were referring to, not the actual amount that he was making.
@@davidz2562 Because she's one of the companies most valuable asset probably. We also heard from Sheldon that he couldn't afford to live in the apartment alone despite him having a doctorate and Penny quickly has twice the salary of Leonard as soon as she starts working for the company. How about Leonard's married colleague, whom Penny has a fling with? He's in one ep, then isn't seen or mentioned again. Even if Penny doesn't ever want to see him again, Leonard would encounter him at work.
I was scanning the comments knowing I wasn't the only one who thought this. I mean good grief, his whole thing as a character was about being a hopeless romantic, and then they don't even bother to resolve that? I mean, literally all of the other main characters found love. Heck, EVEN STUART - A FREAKIN' SIDE CHARACTER - GOT A LTR SHOE-HORNED IN FOR HIM! But main character Raj? Nope. Guess he's just alone forever .-. I wouldn't have been so mad if it was a character like Sheldon who didn't even need a love interest. Raj not finding a deep, loving relationship at the end is like Sheldon not getting the Nobel Prize, or Lenard not getting together with Penny. Like, how do you miss that?
@@davidz2562 I always imagined Leonard actually showed some pride and finally firmly told her to leave. Or that Stephanie realized that things were going to end sooner or later
This is what I love about how I met your mother. Everything in that show is answered or revisited at the end. There’s not questions left by the time you finish the series. Big Bang ended earlier than expected. They never got to finish many storylines hence why Raj never found love.
I've been wanting to know how Raj broke up with Emily and Claire. Yeah, they may have mentioned it the time Raj meets them with his other ex girlfriends, but I believe it could be more specific and should be put on into a scene, specially Emily who is on the show for almost two seasons.
Her character was clingy and emotionally manipulative. Good actress or not, not conducive to the show unless it's suddenly going to switch to a melodrama.
I've never liked the fact that the show ended with Raj still single and alone. The other three guys were married, and even Stuart had a steady girlfriend. I always thought it was a bummer that Raj was left out.
Big Bang Theory is 3 shows. It changes each character quite a bit when they reinvent the series. 1-3 is 4 nerds and Penny is the cool popular (not dumb, only average. Since you need a C+ to be on most teems like cheerleading.) She has lots of other friends and a life. Season 4 and she knows no one but the 4 nerds and Bernadette (who should have already known of Sheldon at least.). She becomes "popular" in highschool (as in she was only cool for being loose and drinking). Sheldon was above hormones, not asexual. Raj was silent/shy around girls but hooked up with several women. Howard was a pervert who was the closeted gay one. Season 4-8 is a dating comedy and now Sheldon's asexual (to get fans to stop writing in and asking for Sheldon/Penny to be a thing. Howard no longer has the gay undertones and Raj does. Leonard became mean instead of just pathetic. Bernadette begins as basically a redo of Doctor stephanie, but becomes Leslie winkle by end of series. Amy is a weird awkward girl at first, but becomes female howard so the audience can be told how much hotter penny is than the other 10/10 girls in series. Penny goes from cheerleader confident, to drunk/loose girl and not popular. Seasons 9-11 is a family drama. Howard is now a man child, who never has roaming eyes. He should have been faced with maybe cheating/leaving like his dad did. Bernadette is basically full on leslie winkle and mean/scary. Amy is a pervert, Sheldon is more like someone with PTSD than autism and has feelings again again(since penny was off the table.) Raj is all the pathetic and closted parts of early howard, with his own earlier weirdness coming back. Leonard is actually a nice guy who grew up and doesn't screw his friends over every season finale. Penny is now a buisness smart saleswoman/rep with no credentials and has no acting interest. It's 3 shows with the same actors playing 'In name Only' versions of the character and only loosly following continuity. I'd like to go through the show and edit out any scenes retconned later/earlier in series and see how long the show is once all edits are made. I feel like at least 4 episodes worth a season would be trimmed.
There is a big difference between ''forgetting'' and ''abandoning'' . i'm pretty sure none of these were forgotten about but simply abandoned because the writers either couldn't work with it.. or thought it wasn't going to go anywhere. If anything you could make an argument that some of these could have been tied up better by having one ask what happened to Stephanie and Leonard giving a (bullshit) answer for the audience to have an idea where that went.
Most of these storylines aren’t missing. You just gotta watch the show in a different way. There are some golden threads which work their ways through the entire show and then there are these standalone subplots which work only for one or a few episodes. Why should they’ve mentioned the new girl again when everything was said and done? just to keep her alive? Or the one with the apps… these stories would’ve been boring in the long run. Some stuff just needs to get solved quickly to keep the show alive and to give the audience something new. I gotta add though that the sudden disappearance from Stephanie was a little weird. Her name wasn’t mentioned ever again. Not even when Leonard was mentioning previous relationships.
She moves into the same block as Sheldon, Leonard & Penny, so they'd see or at least hear her many times. During her only ep, she quickly gets to know the 4 main male characters whom she clearly wants in her life - why would she suddenly lose interest in all of them?
I still think Penny should have gotten a big check in the mail, for that app. Maybe that's how she pays back Leonard for all the mooching over the years etc, and then it's not mentioned again. But that's just because someone else bought the app, so she's not involved with it any more.
Because he wasn't even half as pathetic in season one, only shy. None of the character choices by end of series match the season one versions, they are new characters who superficially resemble earlier ones and have the same name. But they are very different, they change them all twice.
Except for Howard’s dad and Dr Stephanie, these aren’t story arcs, they are one-off episodes. Story arcs require a sequence of installments/episodes. Otherwise they are just plot fodder for an episode.
Honestly, I don't even consider single episode topics in sitcoms as "storylines" to begin with. For me, a storyline means it was a topic over several episodes.
Sometimes, the storyline stops because the actor/actress isn't available for a series of appearances. The reasons for not being available are numerous( although money and ego will inevitably be involved). And, it is somewhat realistic to have a character only appear once. Real life is that way too.
I love how the relationship between Sheldon and Penny grew because i could never see Sheldon offering Penny money much less showing her where the money is hidden but he really grew ro love and trust her as time goes by!!
Raj had the beginning of a relationship with the cleaning lady for the last two episodes of a season. She was a strong, self-assured woman. Raj would have had to work through issues about her being working class. That was just dropped. I think it could have been a very interesting story line, and very possibly a good relationship for Raj.
Did anyone notice that the model that answers the door in The Panty Piñata Polarization episode is the same woman that solves the riddle in The Mystery Date Observation episode?
It still baffles me that Sheldon said to Martha "Time for bed." and she said okay, and Sheldon didn't get it. And then again when she asked if she could come into his room because Raj and Abby were getting busy. I was literally screaming at the TV the first time I watched it lol.
I would have done the same thing, mainly cause I don't want to do anything inappropriate. I never do the first move, because I might seem like a creep.
Courtney Henggeler (Missy). Was the only reason I started watching TBBT. I saw her on Cobra Kai long before I even thought of TBBT. I feel she didn’t get enough episodes. Especially after watching Young Sheldon. The Leonard insecurities while dating Penny. She wasn’t the only attractive female he dated, Priya (Aarti Majumdar) is gorgeous.
Video idea: big bang theory worst things about the characters. Number one would be Lenard, Howard, and Raj: seeing and wanting to be with women only because of their looks(they kind of got better). Another with Lenard could be he was a little pushy with Penny like when she wouldn't say she loved him even after she explained why he was kind of pressuring her to say it by keep bringing it up(I am on Penny's side with breaking up with him) and when he wanted the proposals to be even and Penny said it twice he was going to say yes even though he knew she wasn't ready.
What about the boys sabotaging Sheldon's Artic experiment?? That could've ruined his career! They knew how he was, and being annoyed with him is no excuse to ruin the experiment!!
If we met Howard's dad Sam, Sam would probably say "I didn't leave you, I left your mother. She's not the easiest person to get along with". Howard might say "Ya think?". Sam would say "See? we have something in common already. We both hate your mother.". I think Howard would say "No, i dont hate my mother. She may be crazy but at least she stuck around". You can't argue with that.
@@davidz2562 Probably not. When the mother died, Howard had to get paperwork from his father to inherit the house. That probably means his father still co-owned the house and might have been paying for it, even if Howard didn't know.
Well, maybe. Where else was she going to go/live, since she apparently couldn't support herself financially? Maybe she got disability. And at least until Howard turned 18, she could get extra government assistance that wouldn't exist if she didn't have Howard with her.
Because there is sometimes conflicting or unresolved situations, I always pictured every episode is like a multiverse, every episode may or may not be related to other episodes.
I think a lot of these you can come up with an answer for yourself. Raj struck out with the vet, the top model house probably kicked out howard and raj, and sheldon's mother and leonard's dad probably didn't go anywhere just judging by how the series goes.
Also I remember watching some sort of special about why they had to write Stephanie out, her story arch was almost identical to Penny with the exception that Stephanie is a DR and that Sheldon approves of her… it was known that Stephanie character arch was going to over power Penny as they are almost identical. Young, pretty, jealous, controlling, promiscuous, and when she started to move in, she was going to be more of a series regular…. That is going to shorten the show lol. I do believe Stephanie entered the show mid season 2 (not sure so don’t bite my head off) They had to break it off. So they closed the story arch that both of them just amicably separated after a bang here and there…. No I’m not talking about the scientific bang… 😉
That was what made Seinfeld the greatest sitcom of all time. Once a character entered the Seinfeld universe they were repeatedly mentioned or brought back... although Paul Reiser leasing his apartment to Kramer in "Mad About You" and George watching it with Susan is kind of a screw up.
It'd be a shorter list for many sitcoms. For example, HIMYM has many short-term characters, but most are dates/flings which clearly end. It therefore makes sense that we don't see or hear of them again.
Idk if this is an inconsistent thing or a mistake but in season 4 when Amy asked Sheldon to meet her mother, they do a videocall with her and we can see a different actress (with a very different personality) that the one we see later on the show 🤷🏻♀️
With the #2 Raj situation, actress Danica McKeller probably didnt want to be in the show more than 1 episode. Otherwise I'm sure they may have pursued it. Stephanie played by Sara Rue was a weird one, though.

What made me curious is what happened to Leslie after all the seasons. We see her as a background character a few times after she broke up with Howard. Leslie appeared in Sheldon's birthday and disappears again.

They couldn't keep up with the demand for Penny Blossoms. The story line was pretty completed for me.
They could have later re-booted it without the one-day rush option, which was the only reason the original version failed.
There was also the one where Penny came up with a more useful and practical app idea than the one the guys came up with.

Yes, because at the time Penny was the only main female character.
But who knows if it would've been better
With a sitcom running as long like this, abandoned storylines are inevitable. And a good thing in sume cases, cuz I hated stephanie
@@peteryang8991 Raj definitely should have ended up with Emily the dermatologist.

The biggest of them all, why wasn’t meemaw at sheldon’s wedding. Like wtf 🤯
@Christopher Bingham At first, but later she agreed to give Amy a chance.
You think he'd want to know what happened to him.
and now let's talk about the whole Salary thing, like for instance, Howard and Bernadette? Does an MIT engineer really make "peanuts" a month?
Yes, that seems strange. He has a master's degree - why would his pay be low?
He's a NASA employee ever since season 1 when he worked on his space toilet, so I think he was making good money, but compared to Bernadette pharmaceutical money he could very much be making "peanut". I think that's what they were referring to, not the actual amount that he was making.
@@Magelog490 Why would her pay be so high?
@@davidz2562 Because she's one of the companies most valuable asset probably. We also heard from Sheldon that he couldn't afford to live in the apartment alone despite him having a doctorate and Penny quickly has twice the salary of Leonard as soon as she starts working for the company. This was so fun to watch! Who else enjoyed this as much as I did!?
It's a sitcom, the storylines don't have to go anywhere. That's part of the point.
It's a long-running sitcom with many major storylines.
I love this analysis. Gave me some different perspective.
Amy and Sheldon are just meant to be❤
They were all valid points & should have been dealt with.
No doubt...not even close....Stephanie. Stephanie was amazing in every detail.
Raj is very immature & dependent on his parents, so why would he choose to live thousands of miles away from them for years?
To prove that thing wrong maybe?
@@dimidrugg9592 But he proves it correct - they spend a fortune on him while he's in the US.
@@davidz2562 The point is that he fails to prove that.

He hates India, he multiple times rants about all food there being Indian.
Josh is "Robbie" from Victorious 😍

The bit you can't argue with is him not trying to see Howard. He could have arranged to meet Howard alone. He's clearly a deadbeat dad.
@@kerryedavis Even if he was paying, he still abandoned Howard, who didn't know where he'd gone or why he wouldn't see him.
@@kerryedavis There's no indication of the mother having any friends or family, so she'd have been alone in the world without her only son.
Because there is sometimes conflicting or unresolved situations, I always pictured every episode is like a multiverse, every episode may or may not be related to other episodes.
I loved the number 1 pick. I wonder about that too.
They have a tendency to do that, and that's my biggest problem with this show
Never did care for Stephanie. Was glad to see that relationship finally end.
i miss this show so much
I think a lot of these you can come up with an answer for yourself. Raj struck out with the vet, the top model house probably kicked out howard and raj, and sheldon's mother and leonard's dad probably didn't go anywhere just judging by how the series goes.
Whatever happened to the band with Bert.
Top 10 Ciara dances anyone
I'm not a rock, baby. I'm a boulder.
@@u.v.s.5583 Ha ha 6 tonnes of granite.
Don’t forget that Howard drove the Mars rover into a ditch and a major discovery was made. We never heard anything more about it .
No one cares about that .
I do believe Stephanie entered the show mid season 2 (not sure so don’t bite my head off)
They had to break it off. So they closed the story arch that both of them just amicably separated after a bang here and there…. No I’m not talking about the scientific bang… 😉
Even if you think Stephanie/Sara Rue was pretty, it's a very different pretty from Penny/Kaley.
I wanted Nicholas Cage to show up as Howard’s Father. Given Simon Helberg’s flawless Nic Cage impression
I heart Dr. Stephanie.
That was what made Seinfeld the greatest sitcom of all time. Once a character entered the Seinfeld universe they were repeatedly mentioned or brought back... although Paul Reiser leasing his apartment to Kramer in "Mad About You" and George watching it with Susan is kind of a screw up.
You could make the same list for every sitcom ever. It's the nature of the beast.
It'd be a shorter list for many sitcoms. For example, HIMYM has many short-term characters, but most are dates/flings which clearly end. It therefore makes sense that we don't see or hear of them again.
I wonder why they only had the new upstairs neighbor in only one episode
Idk if this is an inconsistent thing or a mistake but in season 4 when Amy asked Sheldon to meet her mother, they do a videocall with her and we can see a different actress (with a very different personality) that the one we see later on the show 🤷🏻♀️
Yes they changed the actress and they are different personalities.
I think they wanted to change Amy completely and her family too since at the start, she was just Sheldon 2.0, so not unique enough
All of them
Most of them deserved to be forgotten. I wanted to see more of Howard’s brother and his long lost father.
Without free labor Penny Blossoms cost would cost too much to make to allow a profit.
With the #2 Raj situation, actress Danica McKeller probably didnt want to be in the show more than 1 episode. Otherwise I'm sure they may have pursued it. Stephanie played by Sara Rue was a weird one, though.
