This is the content I’m here for 🕺🏻🤗 A sure mark of a good video is when I find myself rewinding multiple times, lest I miss anything, to get a new concept to stick. So many new terms and concepts here. My nerdy little heart explodeth (new word here) into a million pieces. Thank you for this, Clint! 🙏🏼

That makes me so happy! I love making videos that help people make informed pet decisions because I think the world needs that resource, but sharing exciting information about the awesomeness of the natural world is my truest passion. I'm so happy that there are other people like me that are just hungry for that information!

This is the content I wish I’d had as a young person so please know that you are inspiring many generations of reptile and wildlife enthusiasts. I remember reading a theory that in fact, it's not milk snakes imitating coral snakes but the other way around. The theory is based on the fact you mentioned that a wild animal couldn't learn from its mistake of attacking and getting bitten by a coral snake because it couldn't survive the bite. However, Milk Snakes themselves (if it actually was about milk snakes and not another non-venomous snake with a simular appearance) are allegedly rather denfensive and although not toxic, capable of delivering a strong and rather painful bite, one that you would survive but also most definitely remember for the rest of your life. The theory alleges that the coral snakes lookalikes as well as the coral snake itself are actually imitating the painful but not lethal one, hoping to be left alone.

When I lived in Southern Florida back in 2012 I worked on a cat sanctuary. There were air conditioned houses on a large fenced in area, so they could roam outside and cool off inside. While we worked there we were told to look out for gathered cats outside for Coral snakes and Poisonous frogs the cats liked to eat. One time about thirty cats had gathered around two trees and we saw the Coral snakes pattern in the underbrush "Red on yellow, kill a fellow" and grabbed broom sticks and such to keep the cats pushed back from playing with the snake more. We called wild-life control and they were able to safely catch the luckily unharmed snake when they got there, the Coral snake was so long though! Had to be four feet! These cats were harassing this snake relentlessly before we intervened and it bit none of them. They are docile to an extent, but I've been nervous of snakes since, they are typically much smaller, it wasn't the first one I had seen one on that job! Lots of scarlet king snakes though!!

Any news regarding our knowledge of reptile lineages/phylogenies that changes, or even current information regarding them, would be a ripe topic for videos since our knowledge of life is ever changing, or doing more video like this, where you use an animal as an example of the topic you're explaining. A video on the 4-chambered-heart-bearing warm-blooded tetrapods would be interesting, since they were more or less a reptile and we evolved from them, but good luck finding a living example of those lol...I can see the video title now--Tetrapods, the Best Human Ancestor?

I love how Clint describes this process whereby animals meet animals they're unfamiliar with and tend almost always not to have learned how to interpret those animals from watching or being taught by members of their own kind. It strikes me as very strange, but it probably points to what's strange about the very few animals ,like us, who specialize in social learning based on identifying with one another. This contrast between animals and humans is what give rise to innumerable youtube videos showing much smaller animals of every kind scaring or even chasing off top predators.
This kind of thinking is very individual and animals don't even necessarily identify very often with members of the same species. Cats raised with humans will never learn from feral cats that humans are by definition unsafe to touch or be near and feral-raised cats will never change their minds about the threat of humans, no matter how many domestic cats they witness healthy and happy while being petted, fed, and housed by humans who would be too proximate to them for comfort, were they in those cats places. They get that those animals are their own kind and might even have positive relationships with them, but the identification stops there. When you think of all the other communication these animals can facilitate and all the things they can figure out, it's confounding why those lines fall so strongly the way they do. On the one hand, it takes a certain kind of genius to get by without reference to others; on the other, if an animal can manage that, what's stopping it from identifying with and referencing other animals more?

They actually blend in to dead Australian pine needles pretty well. Been on a hike through some woods here in FL, sat to take a break, realize about 30 seconds after sitting I had sat right in front of a coiled up Eastern coral snake.

Hey I hope you see this, but I’ve wanted a Kenyan sand boa for a while now. I’ve been thinking, could I make a tunnel system with PVC pipes (almost like those hamster things)? Of course I would put in substrate but the tunnel system seems like a fun thing to do. I’ve also been thinking about an underground hide at the cool end and a pvc pipe connected to it like a snorkel. I’m just wondering if it’s safe and if I could make it for cornsnakes or BPs.

I seem to recall reading a paper looking at animals that may be batesian mimics of animals that have since gone extinct. Where predators may still avoid the mimic despite the fact that the species that they are avoiding may no longer actually exist, but due to previous selective pressures the mimic retains the benefits. I think even cooler than batesian mimics are mullerian mimics, it'd be nice to see a video on that.

Related to the subject of coral snake mimics, there's a little rhyme that teaches you the difference between a coral snake and non-coral snake. Red and black, venom lack. Red and yellow, kill a fellow. Kind of handy to know if you live where there are coral snakes in the wild and happen to see something that looks like it might be coral snake but you're not sure.
Also, I have a TH-cam channel recommendation for you, Clint. Check out the channel, Joseph Carter the Mink Man. While his main thing is training minks (along with dogs) to catch and kill rats, fish, and muskrats he's now training a young monitor lizard (forget which species) to eventually do the same. He hasn't been at it for very long so far, but the results do look promising. He seems to have managed to train it come when he whistles for it.

How to tell between a coral snake and mimics (refers to the colored bands on the snake’s body):
    Red touches black venom lack
Red touches yellow, kills a fellow
