The LOST Star Wars Sequel (Splinter of the Mind's Eye)

  • Despite now being a worldwide phenomenon, Star Wars was not always a guaranteed hit. Even its creator George Lucas was unsure how his weird little space movie would do, but he did always know that he wanted to make a Sequel to it. So, just in case he was able to make Episode V but it couldn't live up to his vision of The Empire Strikes Back, Lucas commissioned a draft for a low-budget Episode 5 just in case. The result was Splinter of the Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster and even though Star Wars became a smash success, they didn't want the outline to go to waste... and so, it was released as a book and the very first entry in the Star Wars Expanded Universe and later adapted into a comic book. So, let's take a look at the beginning of Star Wars Legends and the lore it added to the universe... at the Adventures of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa and their droids R2-D2 and C-3PO against the evil Darth Vader

It’s pretty clear to me that The Force Awakens drew from this story - Leia trying to fight the dark villain without the force by using Anakin’s lightsaber is like Finn, when she loses Luke steps in and demonstrates amazing force/fighting abilities with no training like Rey, and then the force healing becomes a major plot point in the sequels. Interesting!

No explaining needed for why Solo isnt around.
Keep Vader but swap out his fight with Leia and use Lumiya instead.
