The problem now especially. Is that the majority of British jets are so expensive to run. I never run the meteors because they can bankrupt me in one play session. And god forbid you try the later jets, those have been a struggle and got me burned out from playing ARB as a whole.
I still indeed think that the meteor is still a very formidable fighter. It fits well in the British tech tree.
I have Meteor MK 8 "Reaper" and it is unfortunately my biggest "fuss" and a completely unsuccessful purchase in WT ☹
The plane itself is beautiful and gorgeous - one of the prettiest early jets. It has great energy retention, is agile, durable, climbs well, takes a lot of equipment.
There's only one problem - 8.0 BR is too high for him. The Meteor is actually an airplane from the end of WWII. It should fly with the Me 262 and P80 Shooting Star. Maybe I can't play, but to do anything on the aviation RB with this plane is a nightmare.
I usually have trouble getting to the battlefield at all and killing anything before the rest of the team kills all the opponents.
The Hispano MKV plot is another nightmare. They will spark nicely, but that's not the only problem - the ballistics of the cannons doesn't work, bullets don't catch up with the planes, and when they catch up and hit, they don't do anything. In complete contrast - or as a joke - the cannons are excellent against ground targets with AP ammo.
For a long time, I've admired the red Meteor in the hangar because it's beautiful, but to use it is to play for punishment.
For comparison, I'll add that I also use the Japanese F-86 JASFD for fun. This plane seems to have similar problems:
1. It is overtiered.
2. He is slow and fights almost three times faster opponents.
3. No flares.
4. It only has two AIM9B rockets.
5. It only has 50 cal KM.
However, despite these flaws, I always manage to shoot down at least two planes in every battle.
To sum up:
either I can't play at all or something is wrong with the BR of all British aircraft and it's very frustrating.
I’ve started playing the meteor mk 8 again after a few years and it’s a great aircraft, but the br is too high and the overall speed is average. Maybe I’m an average player but I’m only achieving kills with boom and zoom/ surprise…mostly surprise from a furball.

In the same Idea, I'm often running spitfire Mk24, it's too high BR for it own good, but if you get into a downtier it's an absolute monster. I find that when I play it 7.9 to 8.0 games I'm able to fight most jet as they usually all go down into a big ball of turn fighting. So I just climb and wait for a target that could be low energy bellow me. Usually you can dive at very good speed and then as you get behind them they panick and try to defensive fight, but jet can't out turn or do anything against that, their only solution would be to fly straight and gain speed, but they rarely do. It's quite enjoyable to be the underdog with a prop vs jets !
Compression is a real problem in this game. This meteor, a late 1940s jet, in a full uptier, faces off against things like the MiG-21PFM, which will absolutely run circles around it and just devour it.

Frankly lately I’ve been struggling in the Mig-15bis (Ger), constant uptiers leaving me completely outperformed, coupled with my own extremely poor performance with its guns. I just don’t know how to aim those bad boys even when I get a good line on someone
I play AB with a Meteor in my 8.3 lineup and I've actually not had to bad a time with up-tiers. Maybe it's just the players in AB, but I find if I fly around hitting ground targets it baits a lot of higher tier planes into committing to a 1v1 and trying to turn fight me when they really shouldn't be. Plus I get a lot of SL and RP from killing the occasional inexperienced A-10 or A-6 TRAM that thinks having a 10.0 premium is some sort of guarantee that they'll wipe the floor with a lower tier plane.
It's either German Dorito, the Hoe 229, or the Horton. There is no in between.
I loved playing the F8 back when it was 9.0. It as well as the Venom made me the defensive flyer I am today when everyone else was spamming the CL13 and Mig-17 right before the Hunter F1 made it in. The Meteor F8 and Venom were my favorite planes. Kind of sad now that the Vampire and Meteor F8 are now the same br from 9.0 and 7.3 to 8.0.
Next up, the Sea Jesus vs. the CL-13A... What year is it? Lol.

Shoot them at opponents that are slower than you, and not paying attention. Also get within 4-2km or less and prep to fire.
Best british fighter 8.0-9.7. Yeah yeah, swifts and hunters may be a little faster, javelin and scimitar have aams etc, but nothing beats the satisfaction of destroying those arrogant mig asses when they try dogfighting you. And unlike mentioned british planes, meteor doesn't struggle at all playing defensive
