    I'm one of your fans and your subscriber from Singapore.
    Just want to make sure, if you push the button to check the IR, the display is 1A or IR because it's almost same in seven segment display.

    I just found out about you and your channel.
    I love it. The youtube channels like yours and Louis Rossman's are very educational.
    I'm happy that there are a few people out there talking about the right to repair. But we need alot more people out there. If I spend $1.2k on a phone I'd like to have the option to fix it instead of buying a whole new one just because my screen broke.

    These readers are good and affordable, but they have a few aspects users should be awate of.
    1) They use a lot of power when on, and have a significsnt drain on the battery when off. So remember to turn them off, remove the battery if possible or it will drain while off in a few weeks. If you use it a lot, consider installing a breaker button on the battery circuit.
    2) They have a very large frequency band, so they can easily pick up RF signals from other devices. Attaching a metal shield to the back of the reader can help, so other stuff doesn't interfere with your readings.
    "1A" = IR (on a 7-segment display).
    If you think you have an IR emitter stuck on or don't trust the reading, point it towards a digital camera, phone, webcam etc. Most digital cameras pick up quite a wide band of IR light, but it's compressed down into the visible color spectrum during image processing.

    great video on how to fix those key fobs/.
    looks like the customers like to mess around with them 1st.they most likely own regular needle nose pliers,and not tweezers or tools to work on small or electronic stuff.thanks for putting this out there.

    Most vehicles in North America use either 315Mhz or 433Mhz (+/-1Mhz) for the keyless entry fobs and tire pressure monitoring systems.

    You did a great job. But why not measure the needed resistors from the donor. Then replace them with new resistors from your stock. That stock either being from Mouser or Digikey. That way your donor fab stays intact for another day. And friendly advice - watch how long you hold a 0402 resistor with those heat tweezers. They are fractions of a watt. They could get cooked.
