    Coincidentally, I spotted one of these fully camouflaged cars in Gurgaon today. I followed it for a few kilometers; at first, it resembled a Nissan Magnite, but then I realized that since it was recently updated, it couldn't be that model. It occurred to me that it must be a Maruti, given that there's a factory nearby.

      😂 I am Tata car owner and I absolutely do not agree with you, Maruti cars are the cheapest to repair, Tata and Volkswagen are leading in terms of expensive parts, throw Honda and Hyundai as well in expensive list. But Maruti is the cheapest to maintain and repair.

    BE05/Creta EV is more promising, I was never excited for a Suzuki EV (nor for there ice models tho)... BUT why does it look like a Korean car like by design? None the less Import of Battery pack would surely hike the prices compared to the rivals :)

      yes, hyundai has more EV experience than all 3 japanese combined
      Even a big EV like ioniq 5 gets 7km/kWh, smaller creta can easily get 8km/kWh or more

      It's a high quality and a durable battery tho.
      BYD's LFP blade battery passes the nail penetration test and can last 5000 charging cycles which is insane. A 400km real world range car would last for 5000*400 = 20 lakh km so assume 15 lakh km with 15-20% range loss

    Pricing advantage is not seemingly encouraging considering the competition. Range would be the key. March 2025 is very much late release, by that time Harrier and Creta EV could be in the market.

      50kWh ZS EV gets 350-400km
      60kWh atto3 gets 450km
      so it will be in similar ballpark
      HMG has more EV experience than all three japanese brands combined, Creta will have better efficiency than vitara, already a big car like Ioniq 5 gets 7km/kWh, it will be easy to get 8km/kWh or more on creta

      ​​@@7567_RexExactly. People assume that bigger batteries mean more range. But the range increase per kWh of batteries quickly starts diminishing. Batteries are extremely lousy at storing energy. Not holding much to begin with, and then constantly leaking it.

      The low COG can improve its safety rating. The battery they chose is very safe (BYD blade battery which passes the nail penetration test)

    Though m quite a tata fan, but I must say tata is in soup!!! Mahindra has gunned passed it in sales and therez no sign tataz gonna regain the 3rd spot anytime soon; now Maruti coming up in ev segment. Only niggle free and formidable products coupled with impeccable ASS can save tata or old days are awaiting!!!

    People talk about range but what about charging infra. Govt is pushing for ev without developing any charging infra for tire 2/3 towns. Range won't be a concern if we get adequate dc fast charging on all major national highways

    Centre part of the Interior and the AC vents look identical to the Kia Sonet, and the windows on the rear door, rear fender and the door handle looks identical to the XUV300/3XO.......

    with a price that high, MG Windsor will be stealing all the hype for being such a comfy, luxurious car starting only at ~10L. Saw one on the street yesterday. Was awestruck by how good the sofa-seats looked like and how massive the infotainment screen/control panel is.

    All said and done, it is a dated design . But we Indians will queue up in front of showrooms , and they'll continue to dump dated , ugly designs on us. Look across the border to China for breathtaking cars, even small ones.

    No need for this E Vitara unless it is priced starting from 14 lakh rupees. Still hybrid will make more sense and peace of mind.
    India needs plug in hybrids rather than Evs.
    A plug in hybrid can be suitable to maximum Indians with a traveling range of 70 kms on battery and thereafter petrol.
    I don’t know why Autocar is not covering or doing a podcast on Plug In Hybrids.

      hybrid itself costs from 18L for base model and 25L for top model
      they have put puny 0.75kWH battery (even smaller than ola scooter) and still eats up 100L boot space
      70km range means at least 10kWh battery, there will be no boot space and legroom left seeing how much space their 0.75kWH battery consumes

      bad performance on battery, needing to worry about both charging and filling petrol, and you still think its suitable? no hybrid car performs good on the battery alone. you have to sacrifice so much performance just for a slightly cheaper running cost, and it wont even matter much if you drive a lot.

    1st of all hats off to suzuki for multiple reasons.. they're using vitara nameplate for this ev which is already a huge brand value,, it's gonna be a born electric vehicle,, they've gone all the way to blade technology that too from the giant in ev & battery territory like BYD,, ...
    I personally think ..india simply don't need a 4wd or dual motor set up,, it simply not gonna help its cause to keep the price on check..
    It gonna be a disruption in the ev space ...cuz it's a maruti suzuki at the end of the day ..❤🎉❤

      dont worry the concept images are from italy, so will only be om europe and japan model, they will revert to same in india (including removing some loha from battery and body both) to reduce cost

    Pleasantly surprised for sure. Will wait to see how the market accepts this as substantial market share is now being taken away by Tata and I would assume BYD should come chasing right after. However, Maruti could hope to capitalise on the soft corner that Indians have but a sub-Rs 30 lakh Maruti? After the Invicto? Only time will tell. In my opinion Maruti should go all guns blazing and literally equip it with everything in its arsenal. One glaring misses at this price point in my opinion is going to be no powered seats? Hope it makes it to the “e” Vitara and even the Grand Vitara at this point.
    P.S. Who’s responsible for this cliche naming?

    Very late 2 enter ev car segment and that 2 with vitara with starting price of 24 lacs will not convert into sales figures.
    Tata has matured enough in ev segment, and therefore will rule this segment

      they will use that as excuse to say that ev are failure ev no sales, while windsor gets 15k booking by being good vfm ev unlike maruti

    At 3:10, we can see that the car is a left-hand-drive. We hope Indians are comfortable with the steering wheel on the left side of the dash board.

    The starting price is 20 lakh. I respected Autocar India, but now I’ve lost that respect-what a prediction. Some features are missing from the available electric cars in the market, and the mirrors have been carried over from the previous model. According to the reading on the instrument cluster shown in the video, the range is only 310 km. So, how can Maruti price it above 20 lakh? They will likely price the basic model around 12.5 lakh.

      meanwhile windsor EV launched at 13L 300km range got 15000 bookings in one month
      all japanese brand hate ev they want to sell us complicated overpriced hybrids

    Big battery with low torque is good for long range .. that’s good decision by Maruti as compared to tata & Mahendra proving more power which is useless and less range as well . Tata curvv with low power with big battery can provide 600km + range but that didn’t happen
