Thank you for mentioning silk to hole size ratio. I’ve been having the hardest time understanding which to choose and you’re the only person who mentions it. Amazing video!
This is a great technique, thanks! First time I used silk I didn't realize it can be pre-stretched to avoid having to redo all the work in the future. Now I know!
Hey, thank you so much. I normally make wrist malas with a single strand, and I do it my own way, but my friend asked me to restring her grandmother‘s pearls. The holes were so small, plus it has a clasp, so my method just wasn’t going to work. Your directions were exactly what I needed, and the necklace turned out perfect. Thank you.
Will definately have to give this a go! Could never master the tweezer method. Love these coloured pearls too. Once we have moved and unpacked, this is top of my list to make. Thank you Juliet :)
About to re-string a vintage pearl necklace - my very first project. Impressed - Such a simple formula - Love it! Prefer the double strand technique which looks more so secure compared to the single strand. method Thank you.
I finally completed a smal pearl knotting project thanks to this video. It has been frustrating to briah up on this old skill of mine, bit your clarity and simplicity of instruction made it easy.
You are a great teacher. You articulated this tutorial brilliantly. I am much grateful to your kindness in showing this method. I love it. I have pearls beads that I will knot and make bracelets for gifts. Blessings.
Great tutorial and great technique. I haven't tried hand-knotting yet, but I really want try it now. Would you ever create a tutorial on how to make a double strand of pearls? Thanks. X
I learned by watching this great video with every new knotting project. I make a couple changes that work better for me. One, I leave a lot more space between the first knot and the beads because I always seem to run short. Two, I add 1 or 2 silver spacer beads at each end when making a necklace. I just prefer the look. I must say although I enjoy knotting with an awl, this produces better results. Fewer mistakes to unravel or start over and it just looks nice and even. Thank you!
I truly enjoy your videos and have learned much from them. This particular video was of great interest to me as I have a broken pearl necklace to restring. Would you please be able to describe how to estimate the length of thread required - is it double? Or more ? I have run short when doing a single thread knotting technique which is totally soul-destroying because there is really no solution other than cutting the thread between each bead and starting again with a new length of thread - so wasteful. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach others how to do these wonderful things. Yvette, Australia. 💖💖🌹
This is the greatest video on how to knot pearls (or any bead) ever! It is very simply explained with a close up view, not like the majority of other "tutorials" where it is so far away yet they expect you to see what they are doing (really stupid). Yours is beautifully close up and you talked only about knotting, not about a cat, your life story, personal problems & etc that viewers are subjected to before seeing what they came for. Therefore, your TUTORIAL is the finest bar none! I was able to re-string a broken necklace. THANK YOU so much!
Yay! Thank you for sharing this method! I've never seen or heard of this method before! Seems much easier than doing [what feels to me like] the more finicky tweezer knots! Of course, with certain designs/beads/pearls, you have to use only a single pass of nylon or silk beading thread....But this is absolutely BRILLIANT for those beads/ components with bigger holes in them! 💜💙💜💞💖💌🤙🏻👍🏻👏💜💙💜 Aloha & Mahalo Nui Loa! P.S. Would french wire be used #1 in the place/instead of a wire guardian & #2 to protect regular wire beading wire towards the clasp?
Hiya - thank you for your lovely comments, I'm so glad you found this video useful. You could definitely use French Wire to protect the thread instead of using a wire guardian - I prefer the look of French Wire
Why leave 2 beads at the end instead of just 1? That would allow for a knot to be done like the rest. If there's room, do you try to pull the tails through the 1st & 3rd bead or do they not show after they're cut?
Honestly, I wish you could of cut off the strings in the video. How close can you cut them?? Any advise on buying French wire on line?? Do I match it to my bead hole size? or to my silk size. Please can you advise bc I couldn't find it in the store. Thank-you for you video, it was very helpful!!

You are so welcome!
I love the way you explain. I am retreading my friends’ s necklace. I am enjoying it so much. Thanks you once again. Blessings.

Hiya yes - about double is correct for strand knotting
Fabulous tutorial! I love your soothing voice!
Oh thank you!
So much easier with double strand. 🌸
I think so too!
Very helpful - thank you for all the details!
Glad it was helpful!
How do you estimate the length of the thread to use, for a long pearl necklace to knot?

Hi there
Thank you for the video.

Will be trying this
Love pearls. Can you use wire guardians if you don't have any french wire? Thanks for all your help.
Yes you can, but I do think it looks a bit more professional/traditional with the french wire
Love ur earring
Thank you I am going to try to make a bracelet.
I'm going to try this.
Hope you enjoy 😊

You're welcome 😊
Love the toggle clasp on the silver pearl bracelet. Do you sell them? If so, what is the #. Thanks so much. Love this knotting technique.
Yes I do! You'll find them here www.spoiltrottenbeads.co.uk/product/antique-silver-square-flower-toggle-15x15mm/
Why isn't there a knot between the french wire and pearl/bead? Won't the french wire damage them?
No the French Wire won't damage your pearls
