This question is alittle off your vid, but still has to do with clay cooking. I recently bought a clay bread baking pan (top not glazed/bottom only glazed inside) Bread baking instructions indicate to pre-heat oven before putting pan w/bread in; but clay baking indicates to put clay vessel in cold oven to pre-heat. Nowwhat do I do?

hello henia! i made the mistake of just putting the tadjine on the stove without soaking first and without using a heat diffuser, the result is some fine cracks on the glaze of the bowl (but not the clay itself). can the tadjiune still be used? what else should i do ? tnx!

Couple of questions: What is the purpose of soaking it in water if it's to be completely dried before seasoning? And, Does soaking/cleaning it in soapy dishwater impart any soapy flavor to the food? Does the tagine absorb that soapy odor?

The purpose for soaking the pot is to remove al debris that been collected while transporting and handling, and no soapy flavor is felt in the food after cleaning and baking. Thank you for viewing and your question. Cheers!

Oops I think I used a decorative tajine for cooking. It was glazed both on the outside and inside. I didn't soak it either. I should have watched this video before cooking. It's on the stove right now so I hope it doesn't break or something. I'm still a noob in North African quisine :D
Its only Moroccan not North African, other North Africans dont cook in tajine..but nowadays because of popularity of Moroccan cuisine, others tried to copy our style of cooking.
I have the same tajine you have from the Algerian brand Casbah Culinaire. I've used quite a lot of tajine pots in my life but this one is definitely one of my favorites ever, even the size is perfect for big portions when inviting people over. Thank you for educating everyone

I bought two traditional algerian tagine one. for cooking and other for algerian traditional bread ( matlouh Khobz tagine ) these tagines. They cook very well especially traditional Algerian tagine( lahm lahlou )they are also used in many other Algerian tagine l need more tagin for chorba and couscous thanks henia for algerian tagines also l miss Algeria bladi 💓

Couple of questions: What is the purpose of soaking it in water if it's to be completely dried before seasoning? And, Does soaking/cleaning it in soapy dishwater impart any soapy flavor to the food? Does the tagine absorb that soapy odor?

Oops I think I used a decorative tajine for cooking. It was glazed both on the outside and inside. I didn't soak it either. I should have watched this video before cooking. It's on the stove right now so I hope it doesn't break or something. I'm still a noob in North African quisine :D

I have the same tajine you have from the Algerian brand Casbah Culinaire. I've used quite a lot of tajine pots in my life but this one is definitely one of my favorites ever, even the size is perfect for big portions when inviting people over. Thank you for educating everyone

I bought two traditional algerian tagine one. for cooking and other for algerian traditional bread ( matlouh Khobz tagine ) these tagines. They cook very well especially traditional Algerian tagine( lahm lahlou )they are also used in many other Algerian tagine l need more tagin for chorba and couscous thanks henia for algerian tagines also l miss Algeria bladi 💓

Tajine (and not tadjine lol) is a Moroccan, not North African. Tajine in Tunisian means a quiche omelet and Algerians dont cook in tajine.
