The first thing I remember knowin' Was a lonesome whistle blowin' And a young un's dream of growin' up to ride On a freight train leavin' town Not knowin' where I'm bound And no one could change my mind but Mama tried One and only rebel child From a family, meek and mild My Mama seemed to know what lay in store Despite all my Sunday learnin' Towards the bad, I kept on turnin' 'Til Mama couldn't hold me anymore And I turned twenty-one in prison doin' life without parole No one could steer me right but Mama tried, Mama tried Mama tried to raise me better, but her pleading, I denied That leaves only me to blame 'cause Mama tried Dear old Daddy, rest his soul Left my Mom a heavy load She tried so very hard to fill his shoes Workin' hours without rest Wanted me to have the best She tried to raise me right but I refused And I turned twenty-one in prison doin' life without parole No one could steer me right but Mama tried, Mama tried Mama tried to raise me better, but her pleading, I denied That leaves only me to blame 'cause Mama tried
Man this is beyond beautiful. I have no southern blood in me but damn I love this bluegrass. Sounds awesome gents, tight harmonies are especially nice.
Awesome Band! Used to see them every year at Graves Mountain Syria, Virginia Bluegrass Festival. Also, Lonesome River Band at Graves every year. Why did your Band stop playing there? We miss you! Good Times…
Bluegrass.... Um dos estilos mais lindo da autêntica musica americana.... Muito lindo!! Fantástico!! Obrigado por esse presente musical para meus ouvidos!!! Parabéns do sul do Brasil ! Bluegrass .... One of the most beautiful styles of authentic American music .... Very beautiful !! Fantastic!! Thank you for this musical gift to my ears !!! Congratulations from the south of Brazil!
I saw Russell years ago when he was about 18, singing with a group headed by Johnny Martin. I knew then there was a lot of good music in that boy. IIIrd Tyme Out is good - they sing the good old timey bluegrass that I love.
Great music from these guys.....a fine mix too from the studio folk......and Hag would love this. Such precision and feel made look easy on vocs. & insts...........impressive..
I'm a Mexican 19 year old city guy and I love this!
The first thing I remember knowin'
Was a lonesome whistle blowin'
And a young un's dream of growin' up to ride
On a freight train leavin' town
Not knowin' where I'm bound
And no one could change my mind but Mama tried
One and only rebel child
From a family, meek and mild
My Mama seemed to know what lay in store
Despite all my Sunday learnin'
Towards the bad, I kept on turnin'
'Til Mama couldn't hold me anymore
And I turned twenty-one in prison doin' life without parole
No one could steer me right but Mama tried, Mama tried
Mama tried to raise me better, but her pleading, I denied
That leaves only me to blame 'cause Mama tried
Dear old Daddy, rest his soul
Left my Mom a heavy load
She tried so very hard to fill his shoes
Workin' hours without rest
Wanted me to have the best
She tried to raise me right but I refused
And I turned twenty-one in prison doin' life without parole
No one could steer me right but Mama tried, Mama tried
Mama tried to raise me better, but her pleading, I denied
That leaves only me to blame 'cause Mama tried
I never get tired of listening to these guys version of this Haggard classic. Dang their good!!
The best music, keep listening to this over and over- mama tried
Beautiful, i remember granddaddy picking on the porch singing ole Merle. Thank you for the reminder
Don't know why but this gives me goosebumples!
I'm from Brazil, but I love bluegrass.
Classic straight-ahead bluegrass - I could listen to this group all day!
That master tone sounds great. Wish I had one.
Great performance of a great song! IIIrd Tyme Out is the real deal.

Every time I listen to this song makes my belief ever stronger that god is there . Merle was truly blessed. Love you Mr. Merle Haggard.

One of the best acts in all of bluegrass music, and I've seen many.
Hard to beat the sound that 111rd time out lays down. We used to go hear and see them at Foggh Hollow in Alabama. Twice a year and it was awesome !!!!
This song is both beautiful and sad at the same time.
Great great music
I've been listening to this the past two hours.. Damn
GOLD
This is actually the best cover I ever heard of this song. Great work!
I'm sure Merle was very pleased with this cover.
Merl yea!
Great! Wonderful harmony! Looking forward to seeing you in Manteo, NC this fall!
I love this version it's just so bloody good I can even picture myself on the top of a train carriage, you know like James Dean in East of Eden

Play country roads take me home by John Denver
This here is good pickin
Any guitar picker know if that's a Collings guitar Russell is playing? Sure looks like one!
I believe that to be a Gary Cotten guitar.
Play take me home country Roads by John Denver
Sound is dull but this group is a champion group with soul
My mom tried to rase a good boy I'm nothing but a fool
I love you mom 💌
The hole band are brilliant but l am bias towards the banjo.Real class.
Pure americana
Yo are the perfect detail
🥲
I loved Russell " Erase the Miles " this song needs the craggy voice of Merle Haggard. Moores voice is too perfect..... go figure.
I can't believe I'm saying this...But I like it even better than Merle's original. Yeah, I know that was wrong ...sorry Merle. 5 Stars!!!
Looks like a U67 on top.
Like Kenny Rogers sing.
ディズニーランドのクリッターカントリーにいる気分になる。
Put the banjo in the next room!! Good player, just over rides!!
