Brother your videos have been extremely helpful! Just finishing up with my front end all new bearings and seals, ball joints, ujoints etc. Again great videos, great info, good music and always to the point and good jokes. Thank you! Hope the frankenstroke is running great!
Thank you, you just gave me the confidence to replace axle seals on my own, I have a '97 F350 powerstroke non dually project truck I've been working on.
Hey could you possibly add all the parts numbers for the seals you bought for the inner axle as well as the seals for the spindle. I just ordered some the other day, and I thought I was ordering the correct ones but clearly they are wrong. Thanks I’m advance. Love the videos. They are helping me a lot
Great video. I have a 94’ model dana with the calipers that are held in with clips. It has the ford 3 bolt locking hubs, which from my understanding are 95-96. I’m not sure if I should have 3 thrust washers or just the one with spines and the snap ring behind the locking hub between the spindle. Also where does the snap ring seat? Seems like no matter how I try the axle shaft doesn’t stick far enough out of the spindle. Cheers!
So I’ve heard that you don’t want to press the inner seals too far in. How do you make sure you press the seals in far enough but not too far. I have a 97 f350 by the way. Dana 60. The reason I ask is because I saw where there is not a “stop” lip for the seal
Hi there! We love upper MI! We have spent quite a bit of time up there, in fact my FIL is from Manistee. Unfortunately, I don't have any cabs for sale. Sorry I can't be more help.
@@diymechanictv1233 Its all good :) there hard to come by !! I just watched your video on the front rebuild ;) Im rebuilding mine ATM .. Thanks for the Video it helps alot !
My Carrier removal was very tight I'm struggling to imagine it taps right back in but it appears yours did. Did you mostly place it then use the bolts to press it in place?
Actually, it was snug but I was able to coax it into place with a dead blow hammer. I think it was more or less there before I started tightening the bolts.
I am not sure but every other seal replacement video that I watched on Dana 50 and 60 front ends using a store bought tool had the seals final position further into the axle housing to a depth set by the end cap on the tool. I have relooked at those videos and they all look like the seals are at least 1/4 inch further inside the axles and not flush with the axle housing ends like yours are. In other words, they were not even close to touching the bearings on the Ring Gear assembly when they installed the assembly back in and torqued the 4 bearing cap bolts to 80 ft pounds. All I can add is that the videos I watched were for 2000 to 2010 Dana 50 & 60 front axles. One guy, (like yourself) made his own tool but he also turned his end caps on a lathe to get the right depth, (i'll include his link at the end of this message). Granted, I am no expert but are you sure you got those seals in far enough...??? th-cam.com/video/5K9UNcJQ6kA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for your comment! To answer directly, no. I'm not sure that the seals were bottomed out in their bores. I believe they were, but it's been long enough now that I can't say for sure. I guess if they leak, I'll be afforded the chance to do it again and it'll be a valuable lesson learned the hard way. If that's the case, I'll be sure an post an update about them. I also think there's a possibility that there is a difference between this older axle at the ones used in the Super Duty trucks (there are other notable differences). I guess we will see!
I really enjoy your videos. Every time my 94 F350 has a problem you got a video to help me. Thank you.
Glad you're finding some use in the videos! Thanks for watching, Rudy! 😉
I got a 94 7.3 but I remove the 4x4 . The axle shaft . I don’t use the 4x4

Enjoyed the video. I've rebuilt a few rear ends, never did seals on a front diff. Going to soon on the wife's 97. Subscribed.
Glad you found it useful! Thanks for the sub!
Found part one of this earlier, my only disappointment was where you ended😂

I think a sling as you're in past flush with the edge of the axle tube so the seal doesn't interfere with the bearings, you should be golden.
Anyone ever say you sound like christon slater? great stuff!
I do get that one every once in a while! I'll choose to take it as a compliment.
Thanks for watching!
@@diymechanictv1233 It is a compliment !
