The Dublin Lockout of 1913: A Discussion

Irish social and political historian Ann Matthews together with Steve Griffith, chair of the Celtic Junction Arts Center’s Education Committee, discuss the Dublin Lockout of 1913. This seminal event in Irish history exposed the poverty and struggle of Dublin’s working class just prior to the Easter Rising of 1916. It also serves as the center of James Plunkett’s most famous work, Strumpet City, and for Ann Matthews’ play, LOCKOUT.
