  • I love intermittent fasting and have been eating mostly OMAD since June 2020. Even though OMAD is my standard, I love being flexible in my schedule and will at times have variations to keep things interesting. I have lost weight, got into a healthy weight range for my height and maintained the weight loss for over 3 years! I love to share the flexibility and peace offered through intermittent fasting.

I've done three 72 hours fasts over the last 2 years. I think they are very good for you. My only advice........never trust a fart after you end the fast!!

I’m 58 hours into my 72 hour fast. Going to break it on a full cup of bone broth. Wait a couple of hours and eat a half of avocado. Wait a couple of hours and eat the other half. Wait a couple of hours and eat a little kimchi with a couple of jicama sticks. (Probiotic and Prebiotic). The next day, bone broth…..wait an hour…..a whole avocado……wait…..a couple of ounces of kimchi with several jicama sticks. And later…..a little liver and sautéed onions. Next day…..normal meals.

Great video! I’m like you, just love to break my fast with cottage cheese and pepitas, but glad you posted this video, as that’s not Dr Fung’s recommendation after longer fasts. I learn so much from you!

'17-'18 I lost 100lbs. With IF. Now I'm on week 4 of extended fasting. Longest was 84.. but i decided to to just 72hr every week. Goal this time is 50lbs, already down 19lbs... so should be over 20lbs this week. Loving it

I have done many longer water fasts. My tip is to not over complicate it. Just eat very little, cooked food, no carbs, get some fatty food in, wait some hours, eat again. If you feel tired drink some electrolyte drinks

Thank you for the video! My question if I first break my fast with avocado and cooked vegetables, how long should I wait before I eat that regular meal to not overdo but also so my body doesn’t go into starvation mode? How long you wait ? Thank you!

❤Hi Jackie. I’m struggling to get things right on IF and move the scale. When I first started watching your videos you were IF ADF. Now OMAD. I also see you doing longer fast like the 72 hour fast. My confusion is that I don’t really know where to start. During your weight loss phase which one did you follow to be successful in losing fat? Also any ideas for me as to which one to start and do I switch them back and forth or stay on one till the scale moves? Also did you watch carbs during the weight loss phase? Please help me restart this the right way where I can understand it. Thanks Jackie.
    P.S.
I love your videos. And the food always looks delish!

I would suggest to start with 12:12 (12 hours fasting, 12 hours eating - 3 meals and no snacks), then move to 14:10, then 16:8, 18:6, 19:5, 20:4.. each week extend your fasting window by 1 hr. Def. read and refer to Fast, Feast, Repeat - Gin Stephens really breaks it down! ADF or MADF helps so much too. I started with 5:2 and now I strategically move my down days based on my weekend or weekday schedules. Hope this helps!

Same with the above comment, I just tried to go an hour more each day when I felt like it; but most days I could go longer. I was doing adf all last year, lost 20lbs, then gained it all back because I was lazy, then did a 42 hour fast and it was fairly easy. Just always have an army of different fasting drinks on hand 👌

Hey thanks. I do an eating window anywhere from 2-4 hours daily. Nothing budged the scale. I just completed my first 72 hour fast. Dropped a couple of pounds.at least the scaled budged. I don’t think I can do that weekly like some people do but hopefully every 3 months. Gonna continue my daily omad. Is it okay to eat Whole Foods (potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice for example) with my omad meal after a 32 hour fast? Or do I need to completely cut out star he’s all together? Please help. Thank you

I'm 66 hours in! The 1st day was pretty easy, it got tough for me approaching the 48hrs. The 3rd day (today) has been better for sure! My fast ends at 10:30 pm. More than likely I will not break it at 10:30 pm. I will wait until 5:30am when I wake up, to have some vegetable broth, or maybe an avocado! God bless all who participate 🙏🏽

3hrs left of my 72hrs water fast. 1st meal is gonna be avocado with cooked sprouts to digest .
Then some homemade bone broth I've made.
Then seeing how I feel and pre made a stuffed pork fillet with cream cheese.
Weird thing is today I've genuinely had LOADS of energy and not tired at all or feel ' starving ' it's like you said, the body could keep going.

Our bodies are like the manifestation of our inner child. And mine is so sensitive. I did the 72 hour fast with you in Seltember or October and my body freaked out afterwards. Sounds like if I break my fast with salmon, roasted zucchini and avocado, I'm good. I broke it last time with chicken bone broth, not only was it disgusting but my body was like "oh heck no" and my digestion was all messed up.

HELP: How to break a fast for people with Histamine Intolerance & SIBO? when we can't have bone broth or fermented foods or avocado - which is my normal way to break a fast, but now that I can't have that for a time, what do I replace it with that is low histamine and is gentle on gut to step towards eating again?

I wish I could help; but I am unfamiliar and have no experience with that diet.

    • @Spindlegrind

Any plain meat (not cured like ham or bacon)
Grilled chicken, pan seared steak with some garlic butter.
Meat is the easiest thing to digest after a fast.

    • @alanacreates
      @alanacreates หลายเดือนก่อน

@Spindlegrind yes those are good choices for my 2nd step in breaking a fast... but to ease the tummy back into digestion, I used to start with step 1 of bone broth, then 1 hr until lean protein (meat if home, low carb protein smoothie if out), then 1 hr until a regular meal. In my new situation, I've finally found a histamine friendly chicken broth recipe... NOT bone broth, and NOT slow cooked. I cooked 2 lbs chicken breast from frozen in the instant pot (15 mins preheat+15 mins pressure cooking) with 8 cups water + herbs. Then I pour broth into 8 silicone ice cube trays and freeze immediately, giving me 8 x 1 cup servings for drinking or for use in other recipes. The chicken is then shredded and portioned and re-frozen right away for future meals where I can heat from frozen in the toaster oven. I do this every 2 to 3 weeks.

Omg figure it out yourself. Use your brain and listen to YOUR body. She’s sharing what works for her body. You should figure it out and do the same.
