Addiction is medical and almost always due to childhood trauma and abuse.
Phenomenal woman. She's 59, 60 next year most people are looking to retire. She is running a multi million pound company, hands on mother, entrepreneur, employs 200 people. There's enough to inspire anyone.

The point is about what she has achieved and he was pushing too much into the areas she may not have wanted to share so much about. There's some latent misogyny here and a lot of entitlement from someone a lot younger and less wise than Trinny. 16.06 Her graciousness exposes his naivety here, she's drawing a line.

I feel the same. Steve, you are a brilliant interviewer, most interviewers interrupt so much because they are uncomfortable in being quiet. Your strength as an interviewer is being comfortable listening. When you listen is when you learn the most.

Loved how Steven just let her talk, don’t think there’s many interviewers that have that capability. This makes the guest really go in to themselves, and allows them to talk authentically . Bravo, great guest and great interview!

I think she is skilled at avoiding and deflecting this aspect of her life which is disingenuous given her overall story ‘& MO . She knows how to skirt around the honesty & deep dives that Stephen usually manages to extract, so successfully & powerfully , from all of his interviewees . Its very disappointing as it detracts from her ultimate credibility . But, I guess that’s how she has honed her craft and exactly how she has managed to hustle for so long . Got the feeling S couldn’t be bothered deep diving enough w her bc he had her pegged v early on and realised her ‘ non answers’ would ultimately expose her . Enough rope tactic and she is one who took it

I don’t think she wanted to go into too much detail about Johnny and his death because of their teenage daughter. I think that’s fair enough. She was open about her addiction.
@@equatorialjourney4478 I see what you classify as Trinny avoiding and deflecting as her a) protecting her own privacy in a way that only she, herself can judge is important and b) considering what she believes is helpful for her daughter to hear. Stephen is skilled at what he elicits from his guests and didn't fail at getting more deeply into Trinny's story; rather, Trinny managed her own boundaries of what she felt she wanted to divulge to the world.
Trinny is as authentic a person as I've ever come across. No BS and filled with compassion.
The silence and pace to this exchange was beautiful and powerful, a true testament to wisdom, integrity and healing. I love Trinny and feel a part of the community she is creating 💛

@@Talentedtadpole Was that the Trinny and Suzannah 'What Not To Wear' show? I have to admit, what I do dimly remember of those shows was that, while enjoyable and sometimes doing quite a good job of 'making over' their client/victims(?), their highly prescriptive approach seemed to be to take each unique woman, drain her of all her individuality and turn them all into clones who looked like conventional middle level office workers. And to get them to that point, of accepting that total obliteration of their personality, they did bully and shame them in a terribly condescending and often rude and foul-mouthed manner. The only reason the show was enjoyable to watch, for me, was because the two ladies (Trinny and Suzannah) were strong and entertaining characters. Their taste was relentlessly boring.
From having watched the first 10 minutes of this interview, I was happy to hear Trinny went through a personal reorientation and was able to connect with her true self. I just hope the ladies they helped' were able to recover their own true selves too, and I wish them along with Trinny and Suzannah all the best.
Trinny's breakdown of Imposter Syndrome is the best I've heard.
Steven does a great job not only listening but also showing so much empathy through his eyes.

Trinny has led 10 lives. She’s a survivor and a warrior and I’ve absolutely no doubt a fantastic parent, daughter, sister and friend. I’ve been a huge admirer over very many years. She’s also brought a lot of joy and inspiration to a lot of women. Love Susannah too. It would be great to see her on your podcast. Your guests have all been super interesting great people. Trinny is the embodiment of authenticity and it's so interesting how she was helping women for years get into that place but now her true gift is being herself. She is the antidote to Influencer culture whilst being in the middle of it. Great podcast. I feel inspired.

I watched What not to Wear (with Trinny and Suzanna) as a tween/teenager and honestly I loved the show so much. It really began my long long journey of loving the body I have and the body I’m in.
At 34 I’m finally there. I feel happy and confident and honestly I wouldn’t change a thing about it where I’m at now. This journey really did start with Trinny (and Suzanna) for helping me to dress my body for it’s shape with no shame attached to having to lose weight or any drastic changes.
Trinny is such a force of nature and so terribly vulnerable at the same time , life has delt her some hard blows ...but i think this is what makes her live every moment in appreciation for what she has achieved

I am 46. Our own business was destroyed during the pandemic. Then, mid lockdown on 31/10/20, my husband & best friend (mo Anam Cara - Celtic) died. It was 12 days before our 18th anniversary.
I am still unrecognisable to myself but, much of your shared conversation resonates with me. I am grateful for the clarity, perspectives and inspiration it's afforded, relating to several aspects my immediate position.
I always find Diary of a CEO interesting and oftentimes deeply meaningful. I rarely make comments anywhere. However, I very much want to thank you both.

I love Trinny & hold her in very high regard. Would be great to get the full picture though - she sold her house to help starting her Trinny London business which sounds like a HUGE risk & sacrifice- however was living in her multi multi millionaire partner’s (Charles Saatchi) mansion at the time and for a further 10 years who also invested a few million into her business. It’s helpful to know the full story to understand the reality of the massively cushioned risk. Apart from that Trinny is great - just be honest. Most people watching will be wowed at the risk of selling one’s house not realising the very different reality.
I’ve always loved Trinny, and I am one of the 25% of Australians that buy her products. Great to see the care that you brought as an interviewer allowing Trinny to show her vulnerability. ❤

One of my favourite videos so far, being a older female founder this spoke to me and made me realise I thought I was sacrificing so much to get my brand up there but now I realise I’m doing nothing.
Great interview. Loving the setup. Not clouded with microphone scaffolding that creates a chaotic space between the participants. Giving guests the chance to speak full uninterrupted sentences. Keep at it.
Diary of a CEO is one of (if not the) best series of interviews ever. With every interview I feel myself connecting with the subject through their honesty, vulnerability and willingness to share everything they know and have learnt. There is no vanity or whitewashing. And Steven’s non-forceful style, experience and comfort with pauses and silence creates a safe space for the interviewee to breathe and then go deeper in their story. This interview with Trinny was an utter delight . The grief she shared was palatable, as was her passion for helping others and her authenticity is why her business will continue to grow - when Trinny speaks about skincare and products you 100% believe her. I’m off to get me some of her skincare now!!

Trinny 's energy, honesty, knowledge and laughter literally got alot of us through Covid! Her daily check ins through either Instagram or Facebook were something I looked forward to do so much! She brightens the world in so many ways 🥰 Brilliant podcast!
She made a fortune during the pandemic. The "checkins" were to promote the products, establish a relationship with future customers. Very clever marketing, I'll give her that.
@anniezion well she did more than our own governments who left us all to rot at home. I know of 4 suicides in the first 2 lockdowns, one my next door neighbour. Trinnys concern might benefit her but I don't think it's fake either. And her fortune is a drop in the ocean of the wealth transfer to the mega corporations in that time. She earned it as far as I'm concerned.
I love Trinny London makeup! Used it 4 years now. If you follow her she'll show you how to use which colors and how to apply and how to pair with which clothes. I used to hate wearing makeup and now I truly love what it can do for me.
I really appreciate this interview. So much to take from it, but a few observations...
-the spaces in this interview speak as loudly as any of the words. Having the patience to allow the spaces to speak, that's masterful.
-the contrasts and parallels between minimalism/lack and abundance are so striking. I'm not describing this well, but it's a powerful impression that I'm taking away.
This was an awesome episode! I remember Trinny from her Not to Wear days. I'm glad that she's living her best life! She is very wise. It's also refreshing to see someone who is naturally gorgeous without the over the top need to look like an unnatural version of adolescence or 21. It actually makes her look younger than her age.
I love the silences that give the space for thoughts to occur and process on both sides. The unhurried nature of these interviews is what makes them compelling. Steven provides a safe space where people can take off their armour 🙏

I've been watching and following Trinny for *years*, even long before she started her company TRINNY London. This was by far the most raw and riveting I've ever heard Trinny speak in an interview. Seeing Trinny so wonderfully candid, beyond discussing style and everything she's talented at, is so beautiful. Thank you for this! I've always liked her, but this made me see more facets to her that just makes me appreciate her more!

I saw Trinny live recently, and her vulnerability struck me. At moments, she was overwhelmed, especially when she was talking about her love for Johnny. It is important to understand that your triumphs and failures are all part of who you are. That's why people related to Trinny it's her honesty. She is wonderful.❤

I relate so much to this… losing a few people unexpectedly and in one case a parent, and the questions that everyone asks in trying to deal with it, and how this confuses things in your head….but doesn’t change the huge loss…heartbreaking. Trinny, I hope you find as much peace as anyone ever can with your loss. ❤

I have always thought you are so amazing, so easy to understand so easy to take fashion advice from I never realised how you have this other side to you . For me it almost feels like the skincare came by as a result of all your growing following and love of skincare, so an organic progression . However we haven’t seen this less chaotic and calmer version of you that is actually a strategic business woman who has planned this over the years

Loved, really loved that she stated that age is just a number, as i'm almost 40, i'm really doubting and overthinking everything now (early midlifecrisis i think) and just that small sentence gives so much perspective.
