    You answered my question! I have an R8000 left side crank power meter and was afraid it wouldn't work. Thanks so much for taking the time to cover that!

    I just managed to put R8000 chainrings on R8100P spider. It just needs a small modification to the larger chainring.
    Needed that for the 46T setup with my 11sp ultegra di2. Works perfect!

    I abhor Shimano's crank aesthetic on the road side, so I opt for 3rd party cranks, (Or mtb cranks,) with more standard BCDs. I've come so close to caving and just dealing with this gross looking crank. This makes me glad I haven't. I love Hollowtech II, but I hate dealing with their BCD lunacy.

    What about simply using a 12 speed chain on the 2x11 speed chainrings? If it works, I can keep my crank and upgrade to 12 speed with just the shifters and cassette.

    Thanks! Has anybody measured the thickness of the tabs where the chainrings bolt onto? I wonder if that thickness has changed between 11s and 12s. It's relevant if you have a spider based power meter and consider upgrading it to 12s chainrings.

    Thank you for the video, a question I can't find the answer to is: Can I use the 9200 Dura Ace chainrings on my 8100 Ultegra crankset? No one seems to have outright said yes or no. If you could answer that for me, I'd really appreciate it.

    Can i use the new Ultegra 12 speed on my 11speed chainrings? I have a dual sided power meter and don't want to have the added expense of a new power meter crank.

    • @rajeshkannan_s
      @rajeshkannan_s 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, you can. Most of pro riders were using 11 speed crankset with 12 speed parts.

    My question is can the 3rd party chain ring fit 12 speed crank arm? I am currently running 3rd party chain ring on my 11 speed and running 1x11 set up. I plan to change the crank arm down to 160 from 175mm due to knees problems. Been looking for 160mm crank arms but the 11 speed version of 160mm is super hard to find locally except few of 12 speed 160mm crank arms.

    can you put 11 speed chainring from alugear on 8100 crank arms?

    You answer so many questions! Was wondering about the chainring compatibility of R8000 and r8100 chainrings. Thank you.
    If you could answer this one it would be good for a great many people I think.
    I have just received r8000 FC-08 replacement crankset due to the hollowtech recall. As far as I can tell it actually IS a R8100 crankset (including the chainring which appears to be different only in that it has '11s' stencilled on it!!).
    My spare r8000 chainring now does not fit! Should I be trying to get a replacement '11s' for r8100 (aka FC-08) or just use a 12 speed chainring? The '11s' FC-08 chainrings do not actually appear to be available to buy 'spares'!!!. Thank you again

    Where can I get an out chain-ring for R8000 larger than 53 teeth?

    • @VitaminD8000
      @VitaminD8000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to look out for 3rd party manufacturer like Rotor. Dura-ace 9100 also has bigger than 53t but the aesthetics wont match nicely. Recetly bought 56t rotor chainring and bolt covers for R8000 chainset

    Thanks for the video. I've heard a rumor that the 12-speed chainrings are 2mm closer together than the 11-speed chainrings. Any chance you could measure it if you still have the parts?

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tried to measure the distance with digital calipers and feeler gauges, if there is a difference I can’t tell. The Chainline is 1mm different between the two.

    Does the crank R8000 compatible with Ultegra di2 12ps upgrade kit? Couldn't find information if 12sp chain fits R8000.

    Shimano has lost the plot getting rid of mechanical and now not making any of their New group set compatible and now being mega expensive i’m glad I ride Campagnolo.
