I would try replacing the capacitors in the Legend of Zelda game. If the owner played it as much as he said he did there is a possibility that the capacitors are no longer doing their job.
John, everything is on the ROM, including the graphics when the CHR is RAM.
The RAM is more likely to go bad than the ROM, in my experience, but no chip is going to last forever.
If you would just listen to us and apply some flux, you would have better results, especially with GameBoy games.
Breaks my heart to see a non-functioning Zelda cart
Corrosion on the pins won’t cause it to display different sprites.
Dude, your channel is great.
What's up John!!! Great to meet you at SoCal
I get all kinds of Gameboy games fixed with the reflow trick.
Tendo tapes usually need trace repair or it has a component problem.
I’m always a fan of Riggs open cart surgeries!
bummer...
Wait. You kept this dude's Zelda game for almost a year? Was he expecting it back?
I bet he forgot all about it
Why use brass polish that can potentially damage the pins instead of a safe contact cleaner like Deoxit, that's actually made for contacts?
I only solder guitar electronics but you had me so nervous for your hands holding the board in mid air! I can see how that may be good for visibility but dannng dude your a mad man
Whenever I pick up carts in the wild, or off Ebay I clean they using IPA and Q tips.
Oh dear. We need a part 2 me thinks
Its probably the fujitsu chip thats on there. They tend to crap them selves all the time. Another tuber by the name of luke morse does arcade repairs and without fail its always the fujitsu IC'S that have gone bad. Best thing to do is try a board swap to see which one of them went bad. You can tell if its a fujitsu on the IC if it looks like the |F| at the corner usually the F is much smaller but in that style. It also selling the brite boy in broken down quantities would of been ideal and something you should of started years ago. A little definitely goes a long way.
I watch these because you are entertaining to watch and fun to "hang out" with.
This is for the experts.
I was referring to you Riggs for the record.
Let’s see Dr Riggs save Zelda and Link
You should set the circuit board down on a table and solder it on the table instead of holding it in your hands. Better yet would be to get one of those circuit board holders.
ouch and better luck next time from the UK
Almost seems a shame to fix that glitched version of Zelda... looked fun!
Always be closing.
Definitely looks like the chr chip got corrupt or bit-shifted. Interesting problem though.
Love your open cart vids. You actually fix your games with good cleaners, unlike madlittlepixel that fails fixing his spraying wd40 and a rubbing a pencil eraser on his.😂. Keep up the great work!!!!
Looked like you pulled that game out of popcorn bag.
Screw drivers are on eBay I got about 12 of them
One of the most likeable individuals on TH-cam
John Riggs is my game hero
Tough day...
Woot Woot! See you on Saturday at SEGE!
Happy 4th of July! 🎆 🎇
If you resell the Bright Boy you are now AmaJohn
Can’t win ‘em all, John. Love the effort man!
i always clean my "new" games before they touch my systems.. thank you for having simple straight to the point videos, been watching for years.
Please fix this game
👍👍™️
The Legend of ZDA\DA
Why do you look over your glasses?
He's probably far sighted meaning his glasses are meant for farther away meaning he can probably see fine up close. I do the same thing and I'm far sighted
Ok guys, you heard him, stop sending him the games.
Riggs succesful repair rate is %85.32 I have watched and done all the math of every open cart surgery ever!
Love the channel but this one hurt to watch, at least do the right thing and send the guy his game back, he was very clear it is his childhood copy. We all know it's probably a bad Chr Rom.
Second!
