Lance Franklin and Brendan Fevola provided one of the most memorable nights in football history in round 22, 2008 at Telstra Dome.
Both players had the opportunity to reach the magical 100-goal tally for the season and the drama that followed was must-see as the Hawthorn and Carlton stars entertained at either end of the ground.

Those decisions too flood the backline by Clarkson while 10 goals up have always followed Clarkson like a bad smell, forever tarnishing his image. Loved him through all of those premierships but he will be forever remembered for this.
Fevs fault for not been clinical enough. Simple as that.
Regardless of the dozens of goals fev missed throughout the season prior to the night. The decision by Clarkson to stop him from kicking a tonne is purely spiteful. This was Clarko's lowest of lows.

Your talking about how this moment has “tarnished his image” and that “he will be forever remembered for this” well that’s just completely and utterly wrong I doubt that the majority of people who think about Clarkson even care, he will forever be remembered as one the greatest coaches of all time and probably the best the hawks will ever have.

I’m still absolutely filthy on the Hawthorn players and coach. Surely they let him get one last goal, they were more than ten goals ahead. I’m a Collingwood supporter but I wanted nothing more than for Fev to kick his 100th.
Fev should have been more clinical then instead of missing all those set shots.

I’m 16 years old, started watching footy around 2006 /2007 when I was 3 or 4 as a little kid. I remember particularly watching this game live as one of my early memories. Even as a 5 year old I still had the common sense to know what hawthorn was doing was distasteful. After watching my first ever live 100 goals kicked and the last one to date, I was so devastated when Fev couldn’t make it 2 in one game. It would have been historic and probably the onLy time we would ever see 100 goals twice in one game. I remembered the first poster Fev hit at the very start of the game. I kept thinking if only he made it...
I mean people complain about the Hawks loading their backline, they are within their right to do it. Also if Carlton weren't useless Fev would have got there, he sprayed at least 3 shots in the first half, it's his own fault he didn't get there.
I'm a hawks supporter and I find that distasteful from Clarkson/hawks, should of let Fev kick the 100. And what about that bloody stupid umpire in the last minutes?!

@@eli_0214 There may have been 1 season for Franklin in 2009 but since then the only players who have gotten over 80 have done that with finals games included playing like 24/25 or 26 games and even then nobody's had over 82 - J. Kennedy in 2016, way off Buddy's 2008

I remember Clarko saying numerous times he just wanted to stop Fev because he didn’t want to see the crowd running on again and holding up the game for longer again. He’s probably thinking it’s risky for the players especially with a finals campaign coming up.
