It's been MUCH requested! More Two Ronnies! We have not 1, not 2 but 3 SKETCHES for you! 2 Ronnie's: Mastermind, Racing Duck and Crossed Lines! Certainly British comedy at it's finest!
These were so great and so well written! Thank you for suggesting them to us! We now call ducks pigeons and probably always will from this point on, haha!
We hope this puts a smile on your face and a laugh in your heart. Let us know of these 3 sketches which is your favorite? If you enjoyed this Please Click the Like button. Thanks!!

So very glad you put this up, needed my fix of both of you, but also needed a laugh, and nothing better than intelligent comedy, and when it comes to Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett nothing can beat them, I honestly don't think there's a sketch they did in 12 seasons of their show that doesn't hit the mark. Thank You ✌

19:20 Oxo (ox-oh) is a cube-sized stock of dried gravy; you put it in your stew, etc, to enhance the flavour. It’s one of our oldest companies, beginning around 1866 and you can still buy it in shops today.
In this case he mentioned a cross-your heart bra. The cross is the X, and the O’s are the nipples, so he’s saying it looks like O-X-O.

Check out Open All Hours starring Ronnie Barker. Some other British comedy greats to check out Morecambe and Wise with Andrè Previn(Mr Preview), Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson playing his piano purposely out of tune or telling Dame Shirley Bassey a funny story and she can’t stop laughing and Freddie Starr singing Vincent 😊

Fun fact. Ronnie Barker, (the bigger of the two guys) wrote many of these sketches under the pen name of Gerald Wylie. No one on the show even knew it was him, only his agent knew. The game was up when everyone on the show insisted on meeting Gerald to thank him, and of course it turned out to be Ronnie Barker. The pairing of The Ronnies worked so well because of their unique set-up. Ronnie Barker was an actor who could do comedy. Ronnie Corbett was a comedian who could act. All the other double-acts in that golden age of comedy were made up of two comedians. The acting aspect gave the Two Ronnies something extra.

I remember these sketches brand new, when I was a kid, and it's so nice to see other people watching and laughing at them for the first time.
I feel that, these days here in the UK, the current generation is missing this; Two Ronnies were on at prime time on Saturday early evening, and pretty much every family would sit down and laugh. These days BBC puts up re-runs, yesterday's being an episode of Dad's Army. Fine vintage stuff indeed, but the trouble is that in most families, the parents have already seen this stuff several times over. The nice thing back in the old days was that episodes of, say, the Two Ronnies were new for everyone; watching it was a real family event to be looked forward to.

Thanks. I'm pleased you enjoyed these old favourites. They were immensely popular during the 70s and 80s, both in the UK and in Australia. In the UK alone, their weekly series reached peak audiences of up to 19 million - which was then about 45 percent of all people having television. There were 12 series in all, plus lots of individual programmes, such as Christmas specials, totalling about 100 shows. Barker, in particular, did lots of other work, notably Open All Hours, and Porridge (both successful comedy series), but interestingly he had originally been a legitimate stage actor. He died in 2005, I think. Corbett died about five years ago. Both were awarded CBE by the late Queen, for their contributions to entertainment and for their charity work.

The Two Ronnies were *THE* funniest act when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s and their old shows are *never* on the TV now. It's such a shame. It's also really interesting to see how their brilliant performances can be appreciated across time and distance. So much of it is so specifically British and local and of its time but the writing is so excellent that it carries enough context to still be funny. I love your show!

Ronnie Barker used to submit sketches to the show under the pen name Gerald Wiley. He invented Gerald as a pseudonym to avoid prejudice in judging his writing, commissioning sketches because they were genuinely funny rather than just because he was the star of the show. The two big names other than Barker & Corbett of the 1970's were Morecambe & Wise and they parodied Mastermind too with the added bonus that the role of quiz master was played by the (then) real host of Mastermind, Magnus Magnusson.

I feel Morecambe and Wise is very dated now that I can't watch it however, Two Ronnie's is just as funny as it was years ago. They were better at the jokes.

@@nicholasgarratt5646 I find some of the Two Ronnies stuff is a little dated as they name dropped politicians and celebrities from that age that modern audiences wouldnt necessarily recognise, like in the Mastermind sketch.

    Cross-your-heart Bra - OXO
No vulgar language as it wouldn't get past the sensors, so innuendo and wordplay was the thing. Also, they didn't like bad language, Ronnie Barker especially disliked it. Some comedies were able to really push the boundaries of what was considered ok by doing this. The radio show "Round the Horn" was the master of this.

    • @geoffpoole483

You do really have to pay attention to get how clever this whole skit was. So glad you ladies enjoyed it! Oh and Teddyboys often had a haircut called a D.A. Which stood for Duck's Ars*!

Love your show and clear love for each other. One of the writers for the two Ronnie was a certain Gerald Wiley.. who remained a mystery for some time…before it was revealed that it was Ronnie Barker. He never, never, pushed for material from Gerald Wiley to be used. It got on the show by merit. If you ever see a large book called All I Ever Wrote by Ronnie Barker, I recommend you get or or at least read it. A master a language, but some non PC language is present, but time accurate. Keep up the good work.

They were so clever. They used to do songs with clever lyrics if you can ever find one of those. They did one where they were part of a band another if I remember, was a dance sequence. So funny. Love your shows. Good clean fun. xx

The script writers for this show were legends. Several of the Monty Python troupe were involved (Eric Idle specialised in the songs) as well as Barry Cryer - one of my all time favourites who died quite recently - & the one-off, one-of a-kind, mad genius that was Spike Milligan. But their performances were just sooo good, it was a perfect match. Wonderful to see your reactions. Thank you ladies.

One was “Porridge”, porridge, or at Her Majesty’s Pleasure is slang for prison and he is perpetual long term petty criminal in prison. Another favourites “Open All Hours” about a small Northern corner shop, or as you would call a “Mom & Pop”. This show also has David Jason supporting him.

Many of the Two Ronnies' wordplay-based sketches were written by Ronnie Barker (who submitted them to the show's scriptwriters under an alias so as not to get unfair treatment!). His skills at saying a rapid list of nonsense deadpan are legendary. A typical show would include a handful of sketches, a Ronnie Corbett shaggy dog story, and a "in the news" section with a series of puns and one liners, and a big musical parody. Classic comedy.
