- Who Decides War was started by Ev Bravado and Tela D'amore through many reinventions since the company was begun as Lease on Life Society in 2014. Who Decides War then has only been around for three years (being reintroduced as Who Decides War in 2019) and has since made huge waves in the industry. Now in the wake of their Spring Summer 2023 collection, the brand seems stronger than ever.

I'ma chime in here .. there's a lot of false info in this video, and secondly that picture is NOT Tela lol. You did some good work though, it shows you did a lot of research but there are some straight up false facts in here, not sure how you got to them. I just want to clarify though, I believe you took my words out of context when I said I didn't like the clothes I was designing. I was referring to a point and time in my life where the clothes I was making was just to sustain a lifestyle, I was more focused in on being a lit socialite than a designer - thus me not loving the work of those days (circa 2013-2015). Also I was two years into college in 2013 not in high school

so many new brands literally just come down to marketing and the clothes are more for marketing than a cohesive wardrobe
Wow.. It's crazy how the brand started on the same year (2019) as I did and I'm still struggling to grow my brand. I actually started making clothes in 2017 and I decided to start a clothing line in 2019. Growing up with a learning disability (incomprehension), I had a very hard time with understanding things, not comprehending what's being told to me and I still deal with this disability in my life. That's why I have a hard time with growing my brand, I don't have the strategy of growing, I don't even have resources or have no clue at all on how to grow. But one thing I can say about me, is that I make clothes because I love wearing clothes, I love wanting to dress the best. I love wanting to wear clothes that no one could ever wear, that's why I chose to make clothes, because I wanted to wear clothes that I make. My only way of promoting was giving my clothes away free, get them into celebrities hands for growth, it did help, but money was my issue with continuing with my brand. I'm at a stand still right now, but I'm willing to keep at it. I did have several of people wanting to buy from me, but as I said before, with not having enough funds. Plus I don't have a website established, I don't know how operate it, I probably know how to create the layout, but that's it. My point is that I have no knowledge on how to grow my brand, but the skills, talent and creativity is very well there and i'm the only one that's doing everything. I have no team, I don't really have anybody I can go to for help. All my clothes I make are done by hand and using sewing machine, so yea i'm very well a designer. I wish I had the sources like these other up and coming designers, if you see, you'll see that earlier in the video, it said that he was working with virgil abloh. Which he had some kind of guidance of knowing what to do in the branding strategy. I don't wanna say that abloh was the main reason for his growth, but he was a part of the reason for his growth, it helped him get to the next level with the info that he needed. I understand people say "figure it out" or "get help".. How can I, when I have no clue, no understanding or where to go and what to do in order to grow.

Other than that, sharing on social media, I would really advise to start looking at business rhetoric and language, figure out how to make profit and loss sheets, marketing plans and strategies and do maybe yearly self-analyses for areas of growth.
The information is there, its just not always easy to know where to start. If all of this is too much, too overwhelming, start with the 4 Ps or marketing and research each area in relation to your business. The more you learn the more you are prepared to grow. Youve got this

Great great video! And also great to read the comments and learn more from the brand through their comments. I first got to know them through the AW22 collection and i really loved it when i saw the live stream, still loving it now, but i think they changed the music once the video was uploaded on youtube. hahah made me a tiny bit sad because the live stream show was so perfect, it really moved me in a way.

I think most people did, they really exploded when the SS22 came into stores. I couldnt find the catalyst for it, but it genuinely may have been just more stockists (or maybe Billie Eilish’s editorial)

@@understitchYT I also found it interesting that his religious imagery in the collections has remained, while he has had to temper his message to appeal to more consumers. As you noted in your video he has had some media training to help mitigate any backlash against his personal religious zeal.
I dont know if Id say the imagery was sensored, if anything I think its gotten more, but in a way that uses christianity as an *aesthetic* in kind of a similar way to chrome hearts, where its still christian imagery, but because of the way that its done it doesnt read christian (does this make sense). Honestly, I think if I hadnt gone back to those early interviews, I dont think I wouldve known how evangelical Ev is and thereby how it influenced his work
@@understitchYT I agree in that his imagery, stained glass windows particularly, still is present in his current work. I was noting his comments in his interviews, and how you stated he seemed to be more moderate in his ideas, at least publicly. I am interested in what influences designers, their worldview, but also know that creativity is mysterious and doesn't have a straight line from what you believe to what you make.

I also totally agree with you that design can live as interpretational, I think the AW22 show is great for that because of how many ways it can be read, I really love it for that exact reason. I hope they continue that in the future, itd keep the brand interesting

I would hope and assume that Everard Best evolved his perspective on the clothing he made after refining his brands voice and being brought under the wings of heavy hitting mentors. I doubt he'd get the co-sign if he really didn't care. Devil's advocate (non pun intended) though, I know of a lot of successful people who gave themselves a time-limit on pursuing a specific professional path, seeing what sticks as it were, because lots of people (rightly so) do not want to invest their time indefinitely on something that likely won't take off. "Cost-benefit type analysis" type things.
I couldnt agree more, I dont think hed get the cosign without reframing his mindset, and really there is nothing wrong with wanting your business that you work so hard for to be profitable
