My buddy had this on a cassette tape and if you rode in his car, you were gonna hear it. Eventually I almost had the damn thing memorized! I was a Bulls fan, and we lived in Chicago, but we were all-in on the Knicks in these finals (Frazier was a star a Southern Illinois University, so we were on the Clyde bandwagon). Tremendous play-by-play by a young Marv Albert. "DeBuschre from 20, YES!" 😀
I had both of these knick albums 1970 and the 73 album. It's cool to hear the organ playing in game 3 at the Garden. And also hear the Knicks public address announcer at the Garden John Condon in the background. Fun memories of seeing one of the best teams in the NBA
Yes, and to think I was a West Coast kid growing up in San Francisco and a huge NY Knicks fan because they were always on the ABC game of the week. I loved watching games from MSG with all the excitement and sounds. I finally made my 1st trip to NYC in 1986 and got to see the World's most Famous Arena in person.
The sequence vs. Boston at 18:48 is really as good as it will ever be for Knicks fans. Combination of Clyde, Willis, Marv...all the great Celtic enemies of the day. My goodness...Marv's call of "Steal by Frazier!" is simply a superlative moment in our history...listen to the crowd pop on that specific call. It's stunningly awesome
What I remember most of this era was the funky music at the beginning of this album also used as the theme for the Knicks & Rangers WOR-TV channel 9 broadcasts
You are very welcome, I must’ve played this LP record 500 times in my youth, particularly the part with the epic comeback win against Milwaukee. Marv Albert, broadcast icon in this country, was sensational on the call. In fact, you can tell that I listen to the Milwaukee game so many times by the cracks and partial skips in the record.!
I was 10 when they won in 1973. A glorious time. My dad and I watched almost every Knick’s game that season. My Dad actually got us tickets to a Finals game. It was a magical season.
I had this album. Might have had it memorized. Great find. Thanks for sharing. Had no idea as a seventh-grader that this would be the last time I'd be able to celebrate a Knicks' title. Nice memories. Thanks for putting this up!!
Hall of Famers on this team: Reed, Frazier, DeBusschere, Bradley, Monroe, Lucas, Coach Red Holzman, Phil Jackson (HoF as a Coach), and another player, Dick Barnett, who should certainly be in the HoF. What a team!)
This was undoubtedly part of the GREATEST era in New York Knicks history! I was only 14 back then! The 50th Anniversary of the last championship season! I yearn for at least another championship one of these days!
6:24 I remember listening to this game against the Bucks on my Heathkit AM tabletop radio next to my bed while I did my homework. A few minutes before this broadcast excerpt begins, the Garden was virtually silent, with a few fans whistling here and there. Then the Knicks started to get hot, and then... well, it's all here! 🙂 (N.B.: I have this album, as well as the 1969-70 Knicks Fleetwood album as well.)

Great story.. I think anybody who owned those Fleetwood albums played them over and over again.

Agreed on the organ and John Condo, like a time machine...

I have both albums too! They are awesome!
@@stupaul3233 Yup, so much excitement in the World's most famous arena MSG in the early 70's. The Knicks epitomized the term Team basketball!!!! 👍🏀🗽
My brother’s friend had this album and the 3 of us would listen to it and jump up and down like we were listening to Marv’s game calls live!

TOTALLY agree, Marv's call is, well "marvelous," his voice seeming to rise an octave for dramatic emphasis.. great stuff!

Yeah, they ripped of the wah-wah guitar thing from Theme From Shaft.
Awesome upload, Chris. Many thanks from Australia.

I have the original album and the re released CD. Great memories of the best Knicks teams.
Also had this! No one better than Marv Albert. He set the standard and NO ONE can or has done it better!
I don’t know why I like it so much, the crowd, Marv, the era, Knicks, or my childhood. Probably all 5.
He went to my HS (Abraham Lincoln HS in Brooklyn) and I became a broadcaster because of him!
I had this and the 1969-70 record...
Does not get any better than those years
Yes. The 1970 to the 1974 Knicks were my favorite. A DVD box set should have been released for those great games. The 2005 box set I didn't get.

Ang linaw
had both this album and the 1970 season. everyone spoke like Marv Albert in discussing the Knicks.
Good stuff, not familiar with the 1969-70 LP.
MARV ALBERT,THE BEST VOICE FOR SPORTS ON RADIO of ALL TIME....FEEL BAD for those Who never heard him do Ranger games on radio simply the best
Thanks for this! I had this record as a kid!
Alex Schwartz you’re welcome- the nostalgic memories instantly come flooding back from the outset with that nifty MSG theme tune.
I still have it in nice condition stored away including the 1970 LP. I wish these 2 games were released on DVD remastered.
I had this one too! Great memories! Thanks for posting this.
It is brodcasted on may 5, 1973.

It's so hard to believe that since the record was ready to play, the Knicks have never won another NBA championship. It's now 48 long years!

Narrated by Marv Albert.
He is now retired from broadcasting after many decades of doing play-by-play basketball.
Watching the Knicks of today make me sick to my stomach!
