There were also two couples in the band: Paula and Jaques Morelenbaum and Simone and Danilo Caymmi (son of Dorival Caymmi who was as important as Tom Jobim to Brazilian music). Tom used to say his band was a huge family.

But it´s a feeling that keep you holding on, it´s not a "sad" word. For instance "I have so much saudade from being able to go out on the streets unbothered."

Na minha opinião as melhores do Tom jobim (Luiza, Beatriz, Choro Bandido, Eu te amo, Anos dourados).
"Saudade" is a tricky one, its a substantive for the feeling of missing someone. Its not the action, like in english "to miss". It´s very nostalgic and sad indeed but also strong and warm, it´s a word that embodies the feeling of being away from your loved ones/birth place. But it´s a feeling that keep you holding on, it´s not a "sad" word. For instance "I have so much saudade from being able to go out on the streets unbothered."

I really like Tom Jobins songs, he is an amazing maestro and songwriter, but Idont like to much he as a singer, I prefer to hear great singers singing his greats compositions. You can found Gal Costa and some other singers doing a good work with Jobin's songs if you want, Frank.
