As kirby, wave dash in, out, light kick not so much that he lunges or you're vulnerable, just the small pirhoutte. 11% each. Chain those in combos. High, low, etc, playin kirby like street fighter, all about footsies and spacing thru wave dash usage. Constant wave dash required, lettin opponent attack to step back and light kick. Can't really do heavy combos with kirby, just gotta chip away at em till they're at 70% or so for a kill. Or if you get them on the edge you can spike and murder them beneath 70%, can get newly respawn kills sometimes. But this is only what I have learned playin 20xx cpu's maxed out. I've never tried this shit on a human. But from how I feel, Kirby got twisted potential as a fox killer. He ducks under lasers easily for 1. He spikes similarly. Also he does a horizontal flame attack as opposed to foxes up-b vertical flame. Very strange character, but with the right technique, light handling, he can be a fox killer. But you must be light on the touch, a lot of his attacks leave him vulnerable , it is advisable to do the 'weak' version of most of his attacks, they're quicker. They aren't that weak either, about 10% a hit, it stacks quick. You can wave dash and put them up to 50% in a few seconds if you get the rythmn right. I suppose a human will impose a rythmn just like a computer, the computer on 20xx goes super fast crazy shining as fox. Kirby will never be as fast. With a slow method, I've beaten that computer somewhat consistently. Kirby is definitely not the worst character, he's actually really good at spacing with the light kicks on the ground. His forward air kick is pretty vicious, if you can use that 'defensively' it works really well, but it is tricky to get these motions consistent. A lot of practice necessary for Kirb. Basically, the only way for him to be viable in a 'consistent' way is with defensive playstyle. I have seen triple R on youtube, he's likely the best kirby i've watched online. He's really good. He puts in a great effort, and there are times when he even gets winning results. Regardless, couldn't help but notice how quick, chasey his Kirby style is. Maybe that works for some. For me, I always end up getting hit. He has been playing Kirby for long, long, though, he probably has a feel for spacing that let's him do that more. Still, from what I've learned, defensive style makes spacing easier. Letting the opponent come to you, letting them attack only to backstep and give them a quick jab, followed by a low hit, it work's well. I haven't seen this kirby style online yet. I write this messaage online in hopes of inspiring potential kirby players. If you do, try to master his light kick , (side a) but not the smash hard one, it is useful at times since it covers more distance, but it is slower and leaves him vulnerable. Also its really fast, if you don't move too much you can kick the enemy out of an attack, even Fox the fastest. I've kicked his side-b, all kinds of shit. He only beats me when I jump at him, if I stand my ground, or back step wave dash, I can kick the sucker nice, then chain to the win. That move is really underrated. Probably because you need to do it gentle to make it happen. So he's a real tricky fellow, you gotta be light on all the buttons, but he has the potential to destroy many characters. Thats how I see it. I'm trying to get into the competetitive scene to try my hand. To see if this is true, or delusion. After all, a computer is a computer, advanced as the 20xx mod is. I need to face an experienced person and see if the technique works. It's a philosophy of movement, the only way to make kirby effective. P.S. I advise, never roll, only wave dash. His rolls really suck, against a Fox hes just asking to get round house kicked to hell. I think the Smash 64 tier list is wrong. Ness should be B tier between Jiggly and Mario. His edgeguard game is insane thanks to his D-Smash's range and his D-Air, has great combos which can break shields and his Up-B, if shielded will cause great hitstun, allowing for a shield break combo or a grab, can be sweetspotted AND can hit a recovering player while going for the ledge, even though it's hard to steer. His approach is great thanks to his backward DJC boost, which also gives PK Fire a use. N-Air can be used as an approach and will trump any recovering character, B-Air is a reliable KO move and his PSI Magnet along with PK Thunder can be ledge cancelled. Yeah, his recovery sucks, but he can do a glitch on the left side of Dreamland and Hyrule so if he angles it 45 degrees downward he will instead be sent up as he touches the wall, which is good for mindgames. Anyone agree?
Green Ness™ Well at pretty much any level of competitive play if you are Ness and get send off stage, you will die. His recovery isn't just bad, it's god awful. Also I believe it's not technically a glitch that gives him such angle, it's just the way the stages are made.
Actually, most people play high tiers, and rarely any low tiers. If you want diversity, go to Smash 4. It is really amazing to see son many different people play every type of character at top level. Every character in smash 4 is so diverse, so it's a treat to see.

Each character has the ability to take stocks do damage and combo. Some just have it easier than others. I dont want to follow a text book of playing a certain way to win. I just want to do what I love and be good at it. If you decide to do it with Fox or any other top tier that's up to you. Maybe you cant use a low tier because youre not smart enough. and Mango kindof even confirms this himself, he knows he's the most hyped melee player, and he uses that hype to intimidate the opponent. its not just technical moves, its plenty part mindgames as well.

Who uses Fox vs Kirby? This is admitting that you're absolutely terrible. The fact that this scrub almost lost to a Kirby is pretty embarrassing. I respect Triple R because he's someone who loves the game for what it is more than winning because he has no shame. Though I do wonder if he picked up Jigglypuff since they're the most similar would he be the best player in the world? This is arguably one of the top 3 worst characters after all...
Perhaps a person who mains Fox would use Fox against a Kirby? How does this mean to admit that he's absolutely terrible? Would you prefer if Kels showed disrespect to his opponent and played a character he hasn't practiced and mained for several years? As if to say "I'm throwing pity at you."

Kels is 47th in the world. And if anything, that only adds to how good of a player Triple R is, being able to do this with a character as bad as Melee Kirby. This doesn't detract from Kels' technical skill in Melee.

Toxicity in communities originates from this line of thinking, and whether you are completely conscious about it or not, does not help anyone. You respect others based on picking a low tier and tell them they should not feel shame, while on the opposite spectrum you not only insult players for picking characters that you don't enjoy seeing, but should feel embarrassment and shame themselves for competing with their own characters. On top of that, who's to say that Kels doesn't enjoy playing Fox as well? You're just assuming that based on RRR playing Kirby.

No. Mango explained this pretty well when talking about Axe and AMSA. "They're good with that character, changing to a high tier will not make them the best." Same in this scenario, RRR is good with Kirby. Changing to say, Fox, Falco or Puff will not make him the best. Maybe changing to Puff would help him win more, but nowhere near say someone like Hbox's level.
It's pathetic to see these kind of comments still exist in 2017 where people can't just play whoever they want and not be bothered by it. If Triple R saw these comments being made towards Kels, he'd be cringing. There is a movement that follows him now and shits on everyone else simply for Triple R playing against them and nothing else with Kirby. You don't see these comments when Kels plays against another top 8 character, just when you see RRR play against another top 8 character. You're a contributing reason to giving a bad name to not only the Smash Community but now you're adding more of a reason for people not to play a low tier. On top of already having people like yourself comment this disrespect in many RRR videos.
